Smartie I just actually Lol'd at that - so reminds me of me!! My darling husband always jokes at the doctors that he's going to go and ask the reception for some 'johnnys' because there is a sign after all indicating that he can, wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the family doctors I've used for the past 15 years, where they know me and my family by first name! I once bought some in Sainsbury's and I had Guy with me, I felt like a schoolgirl :rotfl:

DH was loading Daisy and shopping into car (it was a Boots next to a Sainsburys) so I mentioned the condoms to him... he didn't want to go buy them either!!!:rotfl:

We've decided that if they are still there next time we go it's a "sign" and we will ALL go and buy them!;) That's me, DH and Daisy... as long as 14 yr old DS isn't with us!!! Can you imagine his face if he was with us!!?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I've just had a confirmation letter for Guy to see a paediatrician, the doc reckons he may have a reflux type problem. I'm not 100% convinced, I think he has a milk/wind problem, as food stays down fine, but I'd just like it sorted now. The doctor who referred him suggest I cut down his milk intake, given that he will only take about 300ml all day, and a lot of that comes back up, I can't see how I can cut it down? Anyone got any ideas on what I could feed him food wise to try and make up for what he's losing in milk? I feel really lost and not sure what to do and the appointment's not til December, that coupled with the Dr telling me that he's very thin has got me a little worried.
what did the doctor base his thin remark on?
My boys are both pretty dinky but always have been, they don't have fat rolls like a lot of babies do so I guess you could say they are thin but there's nowt wrong with them;)
Has he dropped a few percentiles on the weight chart? Is he steadily gaining weight when you plot it?

If you answer No then yes - then he's fine in weight :)
If you want a way of getting some calories in him you can add butter/oil to lots of meals without him noticing .
Are you thinking his problem with milk is allergy/intollerance? or will you give him mash with cream&butter&cheese and yoghurts etc?

I think Sami is right, as always!
  • Gym - I think you have to give it a week to see if the Gaviscon has any effect, but you may be able to see an improvement earlier. We also had problems with being told bringing back milk is totally normal, until he projectiled infront of the HV :)

Luckily most babies do grow out of it, Liam did when he was started to sit up and I think we changed back to regular formula around 8 months.

Let me know if I can help - I know we have had a few other reflux babies, including WM's Alex.

What's confusing me is that he's ok with food and really rarely brings it up. He's always thrown up a bit but I think I notice more now because he has less milk but more in one go, IYKWIM? He's gone from being 16.6lb at 17 weeks to 18lb at 32 weeks, and from around the 75th centile to just above the 25th. He's always been tall (60cm at birth) & fairly slim but nobody's ever suggested it was an issue til this new doc. Doctor based his remark on my telling him that I can give him milk at 7am and it's still coming up after lunch at 12pm! Then he puked all over his desk, to prove mummy isn't mad

I've no idea what I think the problem is, I wonder if it's dairy related as MIL gave him mashed potato and cheese followed by ice cream the other day and he spent the afternoon bringing that up (thankfully on her carpets not my new ones :rotfl:) yet I rarely feed him dairy as we don't really have all that much of it ourselves. He's had milk in lasagne and I've not noticed a problem but that's the only meal I can think of off the top of my head.

    Thanks NMS :o

Smartie if you want them the embarassment free way eBay is cheap :D
    Baby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j
