No, sorry Gym. Alex was on the gaviscon from pretty early on, because I knew the signs from Joe. But he was still sick whilst on it. So I did a bit of internet research and requested the Enfamil reflux milk. And using them combined worked really well. But it was only after he was 12 months that i started to wean off the gaviscon. I also stopped all yogurts and dairy for a while too, as I do think he was intolerant, but he has now grown out of it.

Have you considered trying a staydown milk that you can buy over the counter. You could try that first. I have only found it in-store at Tesco and Asda. But you can get it online from Boots and other stores.

We used staydown from 6 weeks. It isn't stocked in our local Asda or Tesco only the big Tesco Extra, but was in stock in Boots.

You won't be able to use that with the gaviscon, because it thickens in the tummy.

Gym - just a though. Does he keep water down?
  • WM - I mixed Staydown with normal formula when weaning L off - gradually reducing and the same when introducing cows milk too. I imagine I might have to do the same with this formula if it tastes different to the soya milk.

Gym: thanks for advice prob is T doesn't go to sleep v well in car seat, I would have to drive for about 45 minutes before he drops off n I don't like leaving him in car seat too long. But if he is bad tonight I might give it a go!

Cafc: yes it's the sling you sent, I really like using it, why did T have to grow so long LOL

Smartie: I get incredibly embarrassed buying condoms too, OH used to buy them on eBay but I too think of the boots points! Cannot stand the things though! Why is all contraception horrible?!

Making the man buy the condoms is pretty acceptable, no? Men get to feel all manly and so forth.
*look world, I need condoms! See me roar!*

Men like that kind of thing. Ish.

OK, it can be quite embarrassing.

Thanks lovelies, going to Tesco shortly so will try and find the staydown milk and buy in a tin if the gaviscon doesn't seem to take effect in a week or so. He doesn't take much water and when he does that too generally dribbles out. I've also noticed (since I've been looking!) that quite often when he has water with his food, he will throw up his food, where he doesn't tend to without.

Bruno I'll tell my husband that ;) He doesn't do condom buying, unless under the cover of darkness or with the weekly shop where he can stuff them underneath a magazine/frozen pizza or the like!!

SS toblerone mousse sounds nommy...may have to also hunt down ingredients from Tesco :D

Going to sign off for now, thanks for all your advice today :) xx

Thanks r.mac, no, BH has settled right down again for now which is good. She is still getting significant twinges after exertion/etc, but nothing nearly as severe as that one night.

I am pushing her more and more to not walk anywhere and take mini-cabs instead, but every time I get distracted she walks somewhere then has to stagger back and collapse moaning :p I hung around at home this morning until I could drive her to their toddler group but she still walked back and the 20 minute walk (mostly up-hill) took her nearly an hour

I have visions daily of OH collapsed in a gutter while E runs up and down the street anxiously shouting "Mama Sick! Mama notfeelingsogood!" and stopping now and again to pat her head.

I know it's wrong - but the mental picture you painted is making me giggle Bruno :D It's the notfeelingsogood patting of the forehead that did it!

We've all ended up with such cute little bundles which make me laugh every day. *shudders to think they might grow up and become teenagers*

  • Gym - sounds like Liam. He couldn't keep down water because of the reflux (it was just too thin) Fingers crossed you see an improvement soon! I promise you do forget this stage when they are running around stealing food from your plate (especially the extra nice bit you were saving till last!)

Sorry Bruno, I giggled a bit too. Husband was much the same as you towards the end of my pregnancy, I found it hard to walk places and he kept insisting I took taxis. What I found though was that I didn't want to waste the money or be captive to my body's temporary ridiculousness.

NMS, I've learned that if there is something especially nice on my plate I either have to hide it under broccoli or eat it first.
