Mel, were you feeling ignored and is that why you didn't post for ages? :( Just thought because of the post you quoted yesterday
Proud mum to now-grown-up daughter (Pebbles) and two lovely grandchildren (Roxy & Chip).

    How time flies :)

So is that NAUGHT NAUGHTY secret santa thing not happening now?? Or is it but in even more secret??;) I wasn't going to join in but just wanted to say it's a shame it can't be done on here... in the spirit of that festive time of year and all that!

I'm on FB if I get axed by MSE;)

I'm surprised we're not allowed to even talk about it on here when it's happening elsewhere.

    Are you my FB friend?

You should probably do more pelvic floor exercises :rotfl:

Mel, my mischievous baby also likes to eat when we are, but she is happy to have her own plate and either have the fork loaded for her so she can put stuff in her own mouth or pick up chunks and stuff them in (preferably three at once).

What do other parents do when the clocks go back ?

Do you put the child to bed an hour later and hope they get up the same time the next morning

    or

put them to bed at normal time and hope they get up an hour later in the morning :D

    Thanks in advance :T

Ooooh I was thinking about this today too.

    *yawn*

Daisy was up most of the night crying. Think she's caught the cold that I had/still have a bit. Poor thing just couldn't be settled:( What can be done to help a 5/6 week old with a cold??? I just hope she hasn't or will get the bad throat I had with it.

She's seems quite happy at the moment but I guess at night a cold feels so much worse.

Can you prop up the legs of the cot at one end, that sometimes helps? Also I used Karvol on a hankie over a warm radiator.

Ah, ok, up to date, wierdo world, saddo people!

'MSE' question, as these http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/girls/newborn/23/9?extra=sch&n=women-maternity-collections&pid=730-503&returnurl=%2fsearch%3fp%3dQ%26lbc%3dnext%26uid%3d660104177%26ts%3dv8%26w%3dfleece%2520sleepsuit%26af%3d%26methodd%3dand%26filter%3dsubset%253a4201%26nxtv%3d0%26nxti%3d0%23730%2d503&bct=%26quot%3bFleece%20Sleepsuit%26quot%3b are the cheapest I can find that I can get delivered, does anyone know if the feet have the little rubber bits on or Maddy will end up on her bottom?

no dots on the feet on last years version. I loves them and used them as you plan to - over sleepsuits. I have to say that they are fab quality and lasted well. *I would also sy nicer than the other ones I've seen, but thats just IMO*

I don't think I'm FB friends with many on here :(

I'm EK... on the fairy exchange and other group. Don't think I was added to the list of who's who. Got lots to do in mo (cleaning etc *sigh*) but when I've time I'll send a few friend requests out;)

Lol, Tigs :p I think in our case anyway he just 'eventually learned for himself'. Elijah is still more than happy to get things as far as his open mouth if they look appealing, before realising they are perhaps not food after all.

As far as spoons and self-use go - if you are mainly puree-feeding, you can compromise by giving him a spoon as well - the sooner they fiddle with them the sooner it can all click for them.

On clocks going back - "we despair". We keep trying to do whatever routine works well for our timing, and actually he has switched to it relatively quickly each time, but there's usually a few days of frustration in between :) I didn't mess around shifting their bedtime a few mins each day or anything.

I tried to catch-up and i've failed. I feel I've missed something judging by some interesting comments, but sure I'll pick it all up eventually. :D

Had a very busy weekend. Decorated A's room (2 coats of paint and a feature wall of paper). Also went to a birthday party which was great fun. Now trying to put the house back to rights now everything is dry - getting there very slowly! I'm exhausted today.

Went to a new toddler group and was really impressed - looking forward to going back next week.

    Hugs to everyone.
3 (and anyone else in the know) - I didn't know that Asda reduced baby even things - is it worth me having a trip this afternoon?

  • I'm CB for anyone thats not got me on fb ;)

How old is your LO pinkprincess, jasmine is hitting quite a bit at the mo (told you she was naughty!!) its apparantly hilarious to smack mummy in the face and hit your poor brother with random objects *roll eyes* i seem to spend most of the day shouting at her/removing her from things/places, i love naptime!!!!

Think am gonna go and buy some of this karvol that a few have mentioned, i assume its just a different version of vicks? the plug in sounds good though, esp since jasmines cot is not too far from the socket,

jakesmummy - Karvol are little capsules with something like olbas oil in them. they are child friendly. you pop the oil onto a hankie to sniff. They are very like vicks! http://www.karvol.co.uk/the_karvol_range/karvol_decongestant_capsules.php

Susan - MIL used the lower amount of vinegar as per the note at the end of the recipe, and she didn't blend any she left it nice and chunky :)
That's exactly what I was intending to do. Have texted OH to buy the things I don't have on his way home.
Advice time :D How do we convince Andrew what "food" is? He'll happily eat most things from a spoon (although he still has preemie-style gagging & vomiting issues with lumps, so we're stuck on EKst2 pouches). He'll happily put a toy, a dodie, his feet into his mouth. But he won't pick up any food with his own fingers, and he's really disinterested in me holding food to his mouth for him to suck or bite. It's as if food only comes from spoons now. Can we skip straight to the point where he holds & loads the spoon himself? ;) Suggestions please!
Have you tried dipping the spoon and then giving it to him so that it's something he recognises as food but he gets the opportunity to try to doing it himself? Perhaps half way through a meal so that he's not ravenously hungry but is hungry enough to want food IYSWIM? We did BLW rather than the puree approach but at breakfasts before Alice started actually eating the stuff we used to just give her a spoon which had been dipped in porridge while we were eating and eventually she started actually eating off it so we started giving her a (very small) bowl of it. Or could you sit him in his high chair with two or three different bits of food to play with and suck on while you do something else so that he has lots of time to play with it and you're not just sitting watching him (although obviously watchign enough to make sure he's okay)? I used to do the washing up at lunch times while Alice was still "eating" so that she got more time without it being really frustrating for me which it would have been if I'd just been sitting waiting for her but obviously that only works if you eat in the kitchen.
Thank you everyone :) I got a card from my mum and Idris and that was it :( Feeling pretty upset if I'm honest. Keira is being a horrible wicked child today, and I'm just thoroughly down about being robbed etc aswell.

Oh well, never rains, it pours.
