    Cloistered? Yeesh.
Yes, they get no contact with reality, those ivory-tower eggheads 'mid the dreaming spires of Leicester.

Quick house sale question if i put it up for sale am i obliged to accept any offers made? Only reason I ask is, her mum will no doubt be the person selling the house for us. I dont want be in a situation where I will be forced to accept an offer for the sake of selling it quickly.

You can price it whatever price you want: half a million, couple of thousand, whatever the estate agent suggests. It's YOUR house.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

DO NOT let her mum sell the house!!

She's not being unreasonable wanting a home of her own, I wouldn't really be wanting to move into a house my OH had done up if he seemed as 'me, I' about it as you do, I'd be afraid to move anything or leave the washing up (new babies are a big adjustment, esp after a student lifestyle) in case you started whining at me, and I'd never feel at ease TBH. Sorry :o

She obviously feels comfortable in her family home.

But letting her mum sell the house would be a huge mistake.

Oh and it's your decision whether or not you accept any offers.

Er, no, you don't have to accept any offers made - what if it is worth £100k and someone offers you £50k!!

But also if someone offers the asking price you don't have to accept it.

However, the point you raise has been mentioned above. If you think you will be under pressure to sell by going through your GF's mother then I would certainly go to another estate agents...

You definitely need to have a good chat with GF, don't just rush to put the property on the market.
  • Pipsta, you are obviously the more mature, level headed person in the relationship. Please don't cave in to the whims of someone that has NO idea.

Time to man up, take some control back. TELL her what is feasible property wise.

You can do no more than that.
  • DO NOT let her Mother sell your house!

There is enough enmeshment there already!
  • You need to sort out your relationship first, before you put the house on the market; and then only when you are happy that the relationship is going the right way...
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
