Thanks for giving us an update on your mum, joyfull. It is hard. Sounds like she knows that she wants to be in the nursing home. They will all know her there and I hope that helps you.
Choille - happy 50th indeed. Men eh? Could he make you something? Anything from a few chocolate krispie cakes to hhmm....a bookmark? Is he good with metal type things? Could he bash out a coaster for your coffee mug? I'm not very good with ideas I'm afraid. I'm sorry you are cold and have cold water to deal with. Roll on real spring days with warmth in them, then the lovely long days of summer.
DH away for 3 nights so I am taking 2 hot water bottles to bed. Our dogs sleep in our bedroom (wow - after a life time of having dogs this has been the first time - well apart from my spaniel during my teens but that was pure angst!!). They aren't allowed on the bed though but at least their snoring will be nice to hear during the night.
Having a Drambuie here:). Might have another one. I've had a Twix with it. A mighty fine combo:dance:.
Have good sleeps all

While we've been talking about aged parents recently, had a call from my dad's nursing home on Mon. He's 82 and has dementia. Anyway, the home has closed it's doors to visitors. dad has contracted the dreaded norovirus, along with 22 other residents and numerous staff.
They believe a resident who had been in hospital brought it into the home and it is so virulent and can be spread in so many different ways and By miniscule contact.
I can't even begin to imagine how horrific it must be to have and to nurse in those circumstances. Projectile vomiting, diarrhoea and severe cramps being the main outcomes. Droplets in the air from the vomiting can spread it and it is also can be passed on through food handled by an infected person.
Apart from the dementia, dad has always had a very robust constitution, although he has to be lifted now and is incontinent, he is still a good weight and ironically, has no serious physical health issues, so hopefully he is in as good condition as possible in the circumstances to resist it.
Nurse said last night he was a bit brighter (day3) so fingers crossed.
Home is closed to visitors except by special arrangement. My business is a food handling one, so I daren't risk visiting unless the circumstances absolutely dictated it (you know what I mean:() and then I would be wearing a face mask and would have to take the appropriate number of days off work until it was sure I was "clean". My sister is a teacher, so tricky for her too.0 -
Hi Shykins - Sorry you have to come back to cold country. Good you got away though, hope it was nice.
I'm up & down mood wise & OH is having to walk on egg shells - I feel a right cow.
Bronnie - sorry about the care home situation. They are more geared up these days becuae tragedies in the past. They had it inmy Mum's care home & the staff said it looked scary with all the face masks but they did contain it. Good your Dad is in robust physical health that makes a big difference.
All the best all.0 -
oh dear bronnie that doesnt sound at all nice, do hope your dad is ok, it must be hard not to be able to go and see him.
ok found the bit of paper about the spray for hot flushes apparently its
" based on a formula of aloe vera, chinese herbs, essential oils and spices and is said to boost sex drive, fight mood swings and cut hot flushes"
well sounds like a flipping miracle doesnt it? apparently its doing well in trials and u can buy it (heres the catch) for £49 for 8 weeks course. but also says if the trials continue to be successful it may be available on NHS. - note the word MAY!! anyway its called Hormonal Balance Living Remedy if anyone is interested in googlingWhen you know better you do better0 -
Thinking of your dad,and you too obviously, Bronnie. Sounds best to stay away if poss. Good that he is strong.
Choille - Ithink the moods are just part of it all and people around us have to tiptoe sometimes. Nothing else to add except it isn't nice I know.
Shy - thanks for the info. Sounds a good mix. Always interesting to find out the new stuff that's around.
Went out for lunch with DD and then walked the dogs separately - don't often do it but it is so lovely to walk the older saintly one on her own!
Not much to report this afternoon. Oh - the rain has stopped and the sun is shining!! What a difference it makes.
Off to make soup as on a frugal few days ahead. Got spinach reduced to 40p yest so am going to make Rose Elliott spinach soup. You add cream at the end. Don't have but thought I might mash some cream cheese with a little milk and add to my bowl if it is too irony.

im 44 and always had a period every month unless i have been pregnant (3 times).
this month it just didnt happen.
ive done two pregnancy tests and they are both negative.
i have no symptoms of anything at all apart from feeling nauseous the last 4 /5 days.
any suggestions??0 -
I am also 44 and for the past year my normal 24 day cylcle is now more like 42. Had some blood test and was told not yet hitting the menopause. The GP said it was normal for periods to become more irregular at my age!!0
-
It wouldnt hurt to see your gp or practice nurse and get the blood tests done - irregular periods along with nausea shouldnt be ignored anyway! not if your periods are usually like clockwork!0
