Has anyone used a 'self testing' menopause test (like a pregnancy test) I saw one in Wilkinsons today for £3 and wondered if it was worth it.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

raksha i was told (dont know how true it is tho) that any testing for menopause wasnt of any great worth as your hormomes are up and down all the timeWhen you know better you do better0

Raksha - sometimes I wear a bra in bed but mine are all underwired and lacy (eh - get me:p) and they are not comfy for sleeping in. Think I will get a sports bra for bed. Been reading up about things to eat to help ease water retention - seems to be fish, chicken, turkey, pork , broccoli, nuts, brown rice, bananas and then some things I'm less likely to eat with frugal shopping - cantaloupe melons, mangoes, avocados (they are often a good price in Lidl).Avoid sugary food, refined food, bread, salt, coffee, choc. Bah humbug anyway.
Choille - sorry you are having that early morning wakening. Not nice. Do you take fish oil or anything for your knees? I think you take glucosamine but can't remember exactly. The cold weather doesn't help joints. Roll on summer.
Which brings me on to shykins - have a great time in the sun! Hope the migraine has departed now.
Off to lie on the settee and watch mindless TV. Tired tonight and looking forward to bed time:).
Have a good evening all. Sleep tight.

oh to be able to find an underwired bra that was comfortable
You can get 'sleep bras' which aren't as 'substantial' and sports bras (but are still passion killers
)
Three cheers for mindless telly - Country file, Antiques Roadshow and South RidingPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I just took the wires out of a bra (well actually it was one where the wires were already starting to work loose and you ended up in danger of being poked in the eye IYKWIM.)
Made me realise what a good job the wires do for us bouncy ladies. However the wireless (WiFi??!!) bra is fine to wear under my dressing gown, when I'm lounging round, in case I have to answer the door or dd's BF is visiting :D
Re water retention, wmf, do you like celery? You can consume a massive amount easily in the form of celery soup, 2 heads of celery chopped and simmered with onion garlic and stock. Blitz and consume/freeze. massively diuretic I find, especially with some chopped parsley added.
Ooh shykins, where are you off to?0 -
fabulous tip Bronnie -I love celery and will hot foot it to the shops tomorrow. Celery soup here I come. I can't say I'll run to the shops though as my b00bs are too sore!
Was at the dr this morning for an unrelated thing and mentioned meno to her so she could add it to my notes, as we moved last year and haven't seen this dr much. She said most women come to discuss hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, anxiety, muddled-ness of brain (my words as can't remember), aching joints. Just thought I'd share that lovely cheery list with you although I know that you know this already;).
Thanks for the taking out the wire tip as well Bronnie. Might do that. Am more interested in investing in a passion killer though. Good grief, if DH even THINKS about passion with my b00bs as sore as they are, he'll be getting a cuff round the ear. I've already described the pain as being like his parts being whacked with a cricket bat. This is just my own imagination obviously .
Ok, off to rustle up something for tea. Made self strong nettle tea this morning and it was awful. Tasted thick. Yuck. Must try harder.
Hope all are well

am off to grand canary for 4 days.. .just me and dh BLISS!!!!
re water retention, i know it sounds weird but if u drink more water it will let the water go. basically the theory is that the body needs the water so holds onto it, therefore if u give it more water it wont (did that make sense??)
just a thought but how about a swimming costume or tankini top for the boobs? personally the thought of anything on my body in bed is anethma (oooh look i rememberd a posh word!!!)
i will see u all when i get back. take care all and enjoy that sunshine out there

update for you all
after spending a couple of very restless nights, i took myself off for my appt with the lady DR this morning, she was most helpful and said i was on the wrong type of HRT. Apparently i am too young for it and my body is not ready which is why i was bleeding for so long.
She said that you are considered fertile for 2 years after starting the menopause and if you have had a period within the last 12 months then you shouldn't be on the one i was on.
The down side is is that although she has given me a different type it will make me bleed once a month - which i didn't really want as i have got used to not having them and also i can still get pregnant.
so yet again its |"suck it and see" so to speak!!0 -
Attention attention!!!! I am experiencing 'that time of the month' with avengence - a temper which is likely to let rip at a nano seconds notice, anxiety, confusion, and a hefty dose of 'couldn't care less'itis'.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

update for you all,
My blood test results came back today, im all clear for the menopause (just yet) - well according to the receptionist the hormone levels were 'normal'
i do however have "early signs of an underactive thyroid" so need to return to see GP.
It certainly explains the majority of my symptoms, although I havent read anywhere about why I am having menstrual cramps for 3 out of 4 weeks ?!? but it is said to cause heavier periods and also sweats / flushes so Im pleased (is that the right word?) that i now have a name for my random problems,
i would like to say a huge thankyou to all of you on this thread, your support helped me a lotBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0
