aawww Dogcat - sorry you have a dentist phobia. 6 kids?? You are amazing woman!!
Here's a wee quote for you all:
'To be nobody but yourself - in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you somebody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.' e.e.cummings
Off into the land of nod now and be yourselves

Wonder if our age predisposes us to love trees, stones, shells & things. I will now admit that in order to protect my mobile home against the bad things our nasty site owner:mad: does I do a protection spell thing around it. Definitely not dabbling in anything occult but a really nice bubble of safety involving sprinkling water around the boundaries & humming to myself a little ditty - which in my mind feels good.:):):)
I grew my hair long when I began the meno because I was tired of 'convention' and I wanted it to fly fairylike in the wind when walking on moors and clifftops in long silk dresses..... dream on...
(((Choille))), thinking of you today. Banana smoothies for you.
Off to my (waste of time) physio appt soon. Will pick up library books. MS tip :money:- order library books via the internet - v easy once you know how. I get hold of really obscure books which I really enjoy & it's only a small charge.
Do hope you all slept and manage to have a good day. XXX"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Morning hot stuffs!
Joyfull - I read a bit about you guys. How's the fight going? Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Morning ladies!
Another one here who's going to have to stop saying "Coil" in her head....."Hoi-ley" sounds lovely
I would urge anyone who hasn't been to the dentist regularly to just pluck up your courage and go though. I've had a couple of periods in my life when I've let things get out of routine, mainly for example if we've moved house and I haven't got round to reregistering. Then a filling falls out, then I put it off more and it becomes a vicious circle. The worry of thinking about "I must go" and the inevitable deterioration as fillings drop out, teeth chip etc in the longterm is infinitely worse than making that first visit. Be brave!
.....and choille hope all goes well today. Sure you'll feel much more positive about your teeth, when all sorted out and settled down!0 -

Jacks, thanks for asking.
The site owner continues his blatant disregard for the terms of his licence, rules set by the council etc. In the last 2 weeks he has moved 3 enormous new homes onto the site now bringing the total to over 140 (licence states no more than 125). One house is positioned almost falling into a pond & has no planning permission. In order to position it he took down 2 beautiful mature oaks which had tree preservation orders on them. He was seen walking around the site 2 evenings ago in the dusk stopping to look at some of the older homes, no doubt planning his next intimidation programme to get them off so he can replace with new ones at vast profit. We have raw sewage bubbling out of a drain cover and creating a large pool. The infrastructure cannot cope with it all. He's filled in drainage ditches & we're constantly flooding.
What are the council doing? Very very little. They constantly tell us they are 'working on it' (over 2 years on...), they now bleat 'we're understaffed, it's the cuts...'
It beggars belief that we find ourselves so helpless and unsupported.
I'm not allowing it to ruin my life. But, I'm very active in resisting him in every way I can and being a thorn in the side of the council."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
You Go Girl! I am so sorry that you're having to go through such a stressful situation though.

Thank you all for the good wishes. It went well & although feeling a tad tender, it is not as bad as I was expecting. They look good, really natural. I was surprised as this is on the NHS. Scrambled eggs for tea tonight!
Dogcat and anyone out there scared of dentists get one who you trust now before you need loads doing. I felt safe & knew he would be as gentle as possible - that is important. My major work was planned as I had extractions staged over several months & still have to have work done on the bottom in a fortnight. It has been quite a journey bit much less a shock than having to have it all done at once as an emergency.
Also in Scotalnd there has been major problems getting NHS dentist - waiting lists of over a year. I had to travel a round trip of 180 miles a few years back to get a wisdom tooth extracted - not funny.
Dogcat - 6 children, that's amazing.
Thank you for the quote wmf - I really like that one.
Joyful - I've alsways had long hair & I aim to keep it. I plait it as it ends all knotted up when working outdoors, but then when going out I unplait it & it's all crimped - cheap & cheerful me.
What you are putting up with from the site owner is dreadful & annoying to say the least in the way he appears to be getting away with it.
SEPA should be involved re the sewage and drainage - but that's Scottish body - I think you'll be environment protection agency?0 -
So pleased for you Choille! How fab to have it over and to be pleased.
Lovely poem joyfull and one that I love. Haven't read it for a while and it took on even more meaning when i read it tonight (now that I'm going through this interesting phase in my life!). Thanks for posting it. Thanks also for describing the things that you do re the water, shells and chants. I think a lot is to do with being close to nature, to trusting goodness and having beliefs. Good for you! So sorry that the dreadful man is doing these things. You are wise, though, to refuse to allow it to take over your life. I read recently that we should all see outselves as houses and, so, we choose who/ what we allow in, meaning thoughts, emotions, reactions. So we can see it as aahhh here is an angry thought at that man - no, I choose not to allow that in today. Sounds a bit blah but I think it works if you persevere. Not all the time. Sometimes I get mad and seethe but if I remember to just 'be', then it passes more easily.
Jaxx - good to see you. Haven't seen you for a wee while. Hope things are ok for you.
Have had a real sweetie fix. Made Nigella's rocky road and also her marshmallow crispies and piled them both up with candles as a birthday 'cake' for DD. My goodness it is sweet stuff. have packed a load off with her and my son will get (most of!!) the rest tomorrow.
Ok, off to read while DH watches The Apprentice. I cringe and don't like seeing them set themselves up for a blasting.
h
Have a good sleep all.

Evening all . I try to keep up with reading all the posts here but I just haven't had the time to post. (It was the school holidays when the thread started;))
Joyfull I am sure you have thought of this but just in case not, have you thought of contacting local newspapers, watchdog or the like.? Also if he is cutting down trees, how about seeing if any local green groups will join your fight. Sorry just wanted to try and help.:grouphug: Online petition...we could all sign?
Still having flushes but they are less which could be the supplements. However I am still having really bad nights. I wake up and then cannot get back to sleep for hours. It wasn't helped by my dogs going beserk at the local fox at about 3.30am. (Back to the dogs home for them;))
Nighty night all.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Morning everyone,
Choille, sooo glad you're feeling so positive about your new shinies :A. It makes the long road worth it. I second the dentist thing. Having teeth knocked out would have been my worst nightmare, but honestly the dentist (who can be a bit of a scratchy sod at times) was absolutely amazing. There is nothing to fear. The dread of these things (which lasts forever) is FAR worse that a little fleeting discomfort.
The Park Home site thing. We have every agency plus our MP Damien Green on side, but for some reason no-one seems to want to bite the bullet & blurry well deal with it. He does get fined for loads of stuff, but it means nothing to him. Site owner was featured on Watchdog a few years ago and on R4 Face the Facts just last summer - In all his blazing unpleasant glory. John Waite who presents Face the Facts got v obviously frustrated with the BS that was being peddled. A few of us feel weary and v v frustrated by it all. It's a huge energy output to keep banging up against brick walls. It's almost as if WE are now the troublemakers. He's used his nasty methods on other sites over many years and once he's made his millions he sells up and moves on. Trouble is, he often sells to other unscrupulous owners who employ similar tactics. An early day motion is being put forward by MPs and we have 43 MPs who've signed it. So... here's hoping , for something...
Teachergirl - petition thing. People are frightened to start this kind of thing. Also it's having the time also. Thanks so much for your interest though.
wmf - Just be. Oh yes, everything just gets kind of washed clean in this fresh new moment.
MS tip of the day :money:. Oh yes, get yourself to a church coffee morning. Cheap coffee, donations only. No religious chat unless you want it. Just warm friendly folk.
Be good to yourselves. Specially those who feel unrested, frazzled, tearful, unwell and not good about themselves. We know you're just ok as you are. :A XXX"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0
