  • I really hate the weight bit:( It saps your self esteem. I used to be a fairly steady weight. Not a skinny by any means but normally curvy:o Last year when I started the meno I put on SO much weight eating exactly the same as I did before. I had to buy some new work clothes just so the waist band wasn't eating into me all day. Definitely not very MSE.(Though I bought loads on e-bay:)) I can't diet...I don't seem to have enough time and having to feed everyone else and take account of them means it isn't terribly practical. Thats why I started doing the Couch to 5k running programme of which there is a thread on here. I coudn't even run for a minute when I started:rotfl::rotfl:
Still the weight didn't drop off. So I asked my GP cos I thought there must be something wildly wrong with me wrong. Only to be told it was my age:o. Anyway determined not to let that be true I have persevered and can now run(snail pace) for at least 45 minutes. I'm not losing weight but at least I am not putting it on(At the moment) and I can enjoy the odd tub of ice cream relatively guilt free:D

Still waking two or three times at night though.
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

    Morning all,

I bet you're all quite beautiful despite your perceived weight issues. A happy face is always lovely.:A

Bright mild start to the day. I'm off to a protest rally in London. NEVER done anything like this before. I live on a park home site where the owner, like several others countrywide, exploit legal loopholes and block us selling our homes so that we have to eventually sell to him at ludicrously low prices. He then replaces it with a new one and makes about £100,000 profit. He breaks every other kind of rule and is a multi millionaire. Well.... we're descending on westminster today (all v organised and well behaved) for publicity and to rally the mps & hope to see the housing minister. They are all already well aware of the situation & in particular our site owner whose the worst of the lot.

Praying I don't get too many sweats :o as I'm dressed for the arctic (always feel the cold!) and will have no fan. It might even be on telly. Got a whole bag full of pills, cushion, food, lippy, broken hand fan which is useless, wipes - you'd think I was going for weeks. Thats the ol' meno anxiety though.

Anyway, have a good day everyone. Wishing you all a cool, calm, painfree and happy day. XXX

Wow, you go joyfull - atta girl!!! Hope your day is successful.
Dry, blue skies, breezy. I've taken dogs for their short early morning walk but will head out again later this morning with them.
Felt I'd turned a corner yesterday - felt more like my 'old' self. I know it will be up and down and round and round though.
Still drinking water:cool:. I have to work on this to become a habit.
Re the weight gain. I lost a stone since June (seeing my 50th birthday pics did it, along with a few glances at self in shop windows - eeek) by following Slimming World. I followed the thread on here and upped the exercise - walking was all I did. Anyway, I've always been skinny but have tended to put some on in recent years if i don't watch. I do think that at 'this' age we don't get off with eating the same as we used to. My weight gain was round my middle and on my b00bs and I just seemed to be turning into my old aunties. I'm happy to have lost it but everyone is different and if i wasn't bothered by the weight gain, I would have been happy to stay at that weight, if that makes sense. For me, I wanted to lose it but to do it in a healthy way, without a 'diet'. I have more energy now so that's good. some of that will be because I pay more attention to what I eat. For breakfast I usually have porridge oats mixed with yoghurt and left in fridge over night, then chop an apple through it. Either that or muesli. Before, I would have had tea with sugar and toast (probably white) with marg and marmalade or jam:D .
Ok, off to have brekkie now.
Have a good day all and hope everyone slept well.
    W

Don't forget to give us a wave, joyfull!

We have a similar situation with the LL of our business premises. He has scuppered 2 sound buyers we have had for our business because he has his own agenda. They feel safe in the knowledge that for you to fight their dubious decisions costs you time and ££££! Good luck!

teachergirl, well done on the running, that's the perfect MS exercise solution and great for feel-good factor too, I'm sure.

wmf congrats on the weight loss, a stone since June is really good. I've always stuggled with my weight, piled it on after the kids but lost 6 stone 10 years ago and maintained a healthy weight since them. I'm 5'8" and use my clothes as a guide to weight. I am more than satisfied to keep be an M&S/Next size 14. I got rid of my bigger sizes, so when a few pounds go on I really feel it (which is a good discipline), refuse to buy bigger sizes ( very MS), but feel like I've got nothing to wear ( not very good for morale). Anyway 2 of the pounds that appeared at the weekend have disappeared today, must be fluid. I eat well, try to keep off refined carbs and sugar, just eat too much I reckon now.

LOL at looking like old aunties, especially when the weight goes on at the top. " Matronly" used to be the the word for stout ladies of a certain age didn't it? Noooo! Keep thinking Kim Cattrell!!

My biggest issue with this weight thing is the changinging shape from "pear" to "apple". I am waering jeans that I have not worn since last winter and they seem to be sagging in places they never sagged before and my lower half seems to be disappearing beneath a "muffin top". Oh dear it must be time for 11ses now with the mention of all that food.

    Hello everyone!
Joyfull.....Well done to you on getting out there and trying to do something! ....a lot of people wouldn't. Hope today goes well for you. At least it's a mild and sunny one and not raining. Let us know how it goes later.

Mmmm the weight issue....I have put a bit of weight on around my middle too, although I do get quite a lot of exercise..I tend to walk everywhere as I don't drive.

I've had quite a few 'flushes' today. I woke up this morning and didn't feel too bad...but as the day has got on I've been feeling a bit rough, mushy head type thingy. I wouldn't be able to drive even if I could...if that makes sense!

Hope everyone has a good day...without too many problems or worries.

I have heard of this practise going on joyfull - shocking. A friend of mine lives on one near Salisbury and they had to get rid of their dear dog before they bought it.

I guess it's a private park so they can do what they want? The other day on Homes Under the Hammer they had one and the owners went to the auction as they didn't want Joe Public getting it - they wanted to be in control.

i'll look out for you on t'tv then :T

Spirit are you trying the magnet thing then??? I will be interested in an update.
Am still following the thread even if being back at work means I may not get to post as much.
    Sleep well everyone

Yes i bought one from Boots with my Advantage points 2 weeks ago almost.

The leaflet advised i might get cold-like symptoms at first but to drink extra water and would be ok. Had that but forgot about it until i tidied up the other day and found said leaflet down the back of the sofa
I think the flushes are lessening. it says some things get 'fixed' pretty much straight away but to allow about a month for the meno-miseries to disappear.
