Was reading October's Woman and Home, whilst marching up the hill at the gym today. It's the copy with Fern Britton on the front.
Funnily enough it had so much in it that we've been talking about today and lots of inspirational stories, ideas and suggestions. If I remember rightly (well, it was this morning y'know!), there was a mid-life retraining for new jobs article, lots of mood swing type stuff, some fab healthy recipes, there was also a sort of aromatherapy oils for different moods type article...loads of relevant stuff!). Anyway, I plodded for half and hour and didn't manage to finish the mag!!
There was also a suggestion in the W&H article about mood swings, for this free site, for mapping your moods. It is suggested for depression etc, but is indicated as a useful tool for people dealing with moods swings, the theory being by the very act of charting and recognising your moods, you are more able to deal with them positively. Who knows, especially where hormones are concerned? Anyone fancy trialling it?

Anyway, reckon the mag is well worth a read if you can get your hands on an old copy (October's is usually out late Aug/ early September I think!)
Just finished work , so glass of wine and HM veggie curry in order now and my catch-up of "Snowdonia 1890" on the iplayer(reminder of how my gt grandma lived), just to make me realise how lucky I am!!0 -
Just found this thread and have read through about half of it but it has encouraged me no end to see and read that I am not the only one in this state! I am typing this in the middle of a hot flush - they always come on at night. I am also having the insomnia and TERRIBLE really vivid dreams and nightmares. I am constantly anxious and every now and then I have a sudden panic attack (again mainly during the night). My periods are horrendous - seemingly non-stop, although a bit lighter of late (they were just horrendously heavy). I have terrible mood swings and feel that everyone expects me to sort them out but I don't have anyone to listen to me. My self esteem is on the floor due to husband leaving me for someone else, and redundancy. I feel that if OH was still here then we would be well off but I get no money from him for me and not much for the kids and I am really struggling - it makes me seeth that I am paying a big mortgage and he has swanned off and bought a 5 bedrooomed detatched house:mad: One minute I am fine and the next minute I am crying - it is driving me nuts! Hope you don't mind if I join in - I promise I won't always be as negative but tonight I am feeling really yukky - I never seem to have any energy and the house looks like Steptoe and Son's. Will get the Woman and Home tomorrow (will have to add it to my list ) as it sounds really good, particularly the training for new jobs.
Has anyone tried liquid Collagen? I was talking to a friend on the phone last night and she has been using it and was raving about it for joint pain and general well-being. It's £30 a bottle apparantly so would have to be a considered purchase for me but I would be interested to hear if anyone has any experience of it. (my friend can be a bit capricious IYKWIM!).
Anyway nice to meet you all!Jane

morning all and welcome wmf and recovering, lovely to have you join us,
absolutely fine to share your moods and difficulties on here. We all understand.
my MS tip of the day.... SCRUMPING:j
my b/f lives near an abandoned orchard & I just happened to collect up some windfalls y'day. Bramleys, coxes and helgates. Stewed apple and custard. The best!
Off to the local WI market today to have a coffee with my b/f's daughters. Coffee v cheap, but the produce is pricey, for me anyway. Lovely stuff though, lovingly made.
Bach flower remedies are good IMO. In fact 3 times in the last year I've given my little rabbit a dose of rescue remedy and within hours she has completely healed from the snuffles. These remedies are completely safe - am not giving med advice.
Crikey, some of you are good with the exercise.:) I walk each day. I's good for the painful back.
Be happy and enjoy the day. XXX"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Morning all!
And welcome to recoveringspendaholic. You are in the right place and will get lots of support here :T
I had quite a good night's sleep last night. Just til Bigbruv cat decides it's time for his breakfast that is.
Going to walk up to the village this morning (it's officially a town but is too small IMHO to be one) to the library. I got a bit bored with the Cleopatra talking book so will get something else.
Then I shall pop into the other 'proper' town since I've not actually been in there since I moved here 6 months ago! There's a few out of town retail parks near here that I've mostly shopped at.
There's a new Wilko's opened so want to have a wander round and also have a look in the health food shop for some meno remedies.
add. Jacksxxx Hope you had a good day out yesterday?
Have a good day all.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

oh the joys of womanhood0 -
Thanks for the welcome. Oh dear Vwelsh - I forgot to list the ahem wind in my list of symptoms! It can be a 'bit' troublesome.
Recovering Spendaholic - sorry you are having such a carp time. I'm another one on here who went through a similar thing with ex but have been happily remarried for 8 years now. I do remember meeting him at the supermarket with his new partner, not long after we split up. Their trolley was piled high with nomnomnom stuff and my small one had yellow stickered stuff. BUT...I am very frugal now and have learned such a valuable lesson about money not being everything (not that I really thought it was - rambling brain going on again here!).
I've had sore b00bs for about a week now so keep expecting a period. Haven't had one since August this time (they stopped last year but then started again to synchronise with DD's when we moved in with them for a couple of months during house move!).
Think I might get back into meditation. I used to practise it every day but have let it slip and this is exactly the time it would (hopefully) help. It's really good to help focus your tired out mind on the here and now. I think it might help me with the feeling of anxiety that comes from nowhere. having said that, now that my DSSs have gone 'home' and it's just dh and me here, I feel much more like me this morning.
I'm trying to work on my sleep pattern by getting up at 6. It seems to be helping. I know it is an obvious thing to do but i was just so flat out tired all the time that I couldn't see the point in setting the alarm for 6, thinking instead that if i was asleep at that time then that was good and I didn't need to be woken up!
Ok, off for another mug of tea. Poached egg on toast with marmite is calling my name too.
Take care all

Morning Hot Ones
I've been reading but not posting, must break out of lurkdom more often.
Well all I have to report is again about sleep. Last time I was posting, a couple of weeks ago, I was waking up with the night sweats. This week I've not had to get up early except one day. Every morning this week when I've not set the alarm I've slept through until 10 am!! What's that about? Couldn't believe it. I usually wake up by 7.30am on the days I dont have to go out to the office, even without an alarm. Feel like a sloth. Waking up at 10am and then it's taking me a couple of hours to fully wake up. Perhaps I'm just catching up on sleep from the other week when I got very little? Or maybe it doesnt work that way...
Anyway, I know it's important to get into a routine for sleep so I'm going to make a point of setting the alarm every day for no later than 7.30am.0 -
Feeling much better today, sun is shining, house is reasonably clean and tidy, kids are not arguing.....ooh, and I have just had my first mince pie, I love em!!
Seems this thread was really needed, welcome to all the new posters, the more the merrier.
The supplements I ordered will apparently take 5-10 working days as they are despatched from the Channel Islands, so it seems neither I nor teachergirl will be dancing around the classrooms next week,.....maybe the week after?0
