Choille, how horrible for you.
Sorry don't know what to suggest to make it better, but really do sympathise with you. It must be deeply frustrating and debilitating.
Hug for you.0 -
Thanks Bronnie - Might be just the way of it as I had a period similar back in Feb - I think, so maybe nothing to do with the tablets. I haven't had hot flushes, or night sweats for months & months so the HRT seemed to be to address my moods, but I think that's a bit of a none starter - hard to say as I'm put off it after the last few weeks of extreme PMT & bleeding.
Think that I'm stressed out with things & that's the way of it - feels like living on a knife edge & will for a while.0 -
Oh Choille, i can fully sympathise with you.
As you may recall dr put me on Climagest nearly 6 months ago now and all was ok for the first 3 months but for the last 3 i have had a week on and a week off!!!!!!!, finally last week i asked him to change my hrt but he said he couldn't and has given me another tablet to add in for 1 week a month....i am up the wall.
Why do us women have to go through this.
I will be thinking of you .

Oh - sorry that you're having this Nickybat - It's not good & pretty debilitating stuff.
I just stopped taking them - only had been on them for a month. Thing is Doc said they were 'no bleed' - well they 'bleeding' weren't. Bleeding bleeding started after taking them for a few days - maybe coincidental, but I don't see any benefit from taking them. Maybe haven't given them long enough.0 -
I sometimes wonder the same, but i will persevere for a while longer, and see how things go.0

Hello everyone
I found this thread last night & would like to join you if I may.
So much of what I've read has struck a chord and helped me realise I'm not going mad when I can't think of a simple word & end up pointing at whatever object it is I can't say the name for, looking (& feeling) like a lunatic!
I'm posting via my mobile phone as I'm currently in hospital so please excuse any bad spelling/paragraphing etc.
I suffer from hot flushes, aches & pains (but more on that later), memory mush, forgetfulness, hair problems, weight gain, worry, anger, tearfullness, anxiety........!!! I take supplements which cost much more than I can afford but I don't want to take HRT.
Aches & pains - after suffering muscle aches & bone pain that felt like a rat was gnawing on my shin bone, i went to my doctor who first brushed me off with an order to lose weight. 6 months later having worked like a demon to lose weight & only having lost 6lbs I went back and he sent me for physio. This did nothing so went back again and was more or less told that at my age (54) I should expect some discomfort in life. this was over a year ago. 2 months ago I went to the doctor with terrible pain in my knee and lower leg. I saw the young GP in training who straight away said she would do an x-ray but also wanted to check my vitamin D levels as a deficiency could cause not only aches & pains but also stopped the body absorbing calcium which could have dire long term effects on bone health.
And voila I am VERY low in vitamin D. Months of pain could have been avoided with a simple blood test! Now I haven't written this to suggest pain any of you suffer could be due to lack of vit D, but rather to point out that some doctors put anything/everything down to age once you get past 50. So don't always assume menapause is the culprit, get checked out .....and with more than one doctor if necessary!People Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Welcome taurusgb and hi to all menos,
So sorry to hear of our woes. It really is no fun at all this ageing lark. It seems the meno really speeds things up and so many things can be on the wane that it can feel overwhelming. Listening to R4 today, and so many 60 and 70 yr old women who are climbing mountains and travelling the world. WHAT!!! Today my body ached so much I had to force myself to get a morning's work done.
Am trying to do without sleeping pill assistance atm. Going quite well, except the body hurts, so am needing a coffee and painkillers just to function.
There's a feel of autumn in the air. Noooooooooo..........."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Autumn here too - Bah.
Back at Docs & got a perscription for antidepressants but am not going to take them as they sound similar to the Champix that I took for stopping smoking & they ended up leaving me sleepless for days & riddled with anxiety & I had to stop them. Now I had explained explained about the Champix side effects & said I didn't want a repeat of that.
Phoned the surgery & got to speak to the doc eventually & he basically said it's either those or the HRT & I was a lot taken aback & still am. I still have 2 months of Kliovance left & am tempted to restart taking them but really a three week period has left me scared of those too. I told the doc I felt pretty desperate.
I had a good cry after coming off the phone but I feel pretty narked about things & thourghly confused. I haven't even had a blood test taken. Am I over reacting?
I don't know what to do.0 -
Hi choille,
Why are you being prescribed either hrt or anti d's, as they are for 2 separate group of symptoms I would have thought?
It's perfectly understandable to be upset by all this, so you're not over-reacting. Firstly, get a good sleep (if possible) and try to rest your mind a bit. Then.... would you feel able to go & see doctor again to really communicate your concerns. It's really difficult when medications muck us up with side effects, it leaves us feeling very helpless & we need some understanding from our doctors - not sharp words.
It certainly sounds like that particular hrt was not suitable for you. As I've said I just take one third of my hrt (break pill up) and the flushes have pretty much gone. I have no doubt if I was to take the full amount it would not be good for me.
It's fine to have a good cry - releases the stress. Tomorrow is another day, hopefully you won't feel so raw then and you can see a way forward. Big HUG X"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0
