Joyful - thanks for the quick response.
My moods are dire - really swinging about - like PMT to the power of 100. I'm scary!
I'm lucky I don't have flushes - how I could not handle that as well. My balance is totally shot.
I have to hold on to the wall when I go up the ramp to the shed. I nearly black out when standing up.
I really tried explaining to the Doc on the phone - it's as if he's run out of patience with me. Thing is I slagged off the Champix & I went outwith the surgery for advice on that & I don't think he liked that when I pointed that out to him.
Seen an ad for natural progesterone stuff but I haven't a clue if it's any good or not.0 -

I tried natural progesterone cream a couple of years back & just one dose made my chest feel very tight and heart racing - not pleasant. But that was me, it must work for some people. It's also quite pricey.
Must be a bit careful about what we discuss here."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -

That sounds like the cream I've been reading about & thought I may try it but it is pretty pricey - thing is there's so much out there & you do wonder if it's just chucking money away.
They have a phone line but it's not on at the mo.0 -
Well i have been back to the DR this morning about one of my more unpleasant symptoms of the menopause and was told to see the nurse, saw her this afternoon and she said she didn't know why the dr had sent me she couldn't helpme, i seriously nearly burst into tears, i just grabbed my little boy and left.
i am beginning to think they are not interested, the fact i am going through an early menopause means nothing to them, i give up, i seriously give up!!
Rant over!!0 -
Nickybat - I'm really sorry you've had that carryon. It is rotten behaviour from them. I am fed up with my GP & have ordered some stuff on the internet that sounded good - it's a sort of natural HRT.
My GP seemed to be saying either HRT or onto depressants & he wasn't up for recommending anything other than the HRT that I had a three week period from Hell on.
If you could see another GP in the practice then you should give it a go as it's not fair on either you or your son to be feeling bad & not getting any help.0 -
Thank you Choille, i have already seen the lady Dr about 4 months ago about it, she just said it was a common symptom of the menopause - like i'm just supposed to live with it!0

Do you have PMT multiplied about a zillion times. I actually said to the DR that I wasn't safe. I felt dangerous - he just sort of sniggered.....nervously.:rotfl:
It's no fun & you really should go back & see if your medication needs lowering or a different one would be more appropriate.
I don't know if the HRT caused my period, but within a few days of starting it that happened & within a day of stopping taking it they ceased - so one can only deduce that they'd caused the period from Hell.0 -
No it's not that, it's the one associated with old ladies, i'm not aware of any medication being available able to solve it0

Sorry Nicky I'm not sure if I've got you right but there is always things that can help & proper tests etc to establish what's actually going on should be done.
I think you should go back & see another Doc, It's not fair on you or your family either. I don't know how I would cope with a little un theway I've been been feeling. You need all the help that you can get & deserve.
Hope you get an appointment with someone who will at least take on board what you are saying.0 -
Hello all, I'd like to join you, just found this thread.
I'm 54, last period was 2 years ago.
I had been looking forward to no more periods (used to have super-heavy bleeds so I had to wear black all the time!) and was feeling OK about ageing as I started a new career 3 years back...
But now, the last 6 months I feel like I'm seriously ill - so much so that it took me a while to come around to identifying the symptoms with the menopause.
One thing that seems to come up time and again on here is doctors being dismissive and not listening... Unfortunately that was my experience too, even tho I had fiund her very good in the past for other problems. She just said its due to depression.
Anyway, don't want to go on too much, but just wanted to say hi to you all.
And I wish I could have a cat.0
