  • Ah now slopemaster, many variables in there, many we can't help with, but the cat issue. What were you thinking of ?

Seriously, much is !!!! about meno, but there is the opportunity to make changes and if owning a cat, might make you life a kinder and happier place go for it.

It's just that I go away a lot so it wouldn't be fair to have a cat.
    But I wish I could.
Feel almost broody for a cat!

Hi Slopemaster - can identify with what you are saying re the doc. It is as if they give up.
Also the cat thing - I have two old boys who I love dearly. It is a problem to get away, but if you have people who could come in and feed them that could work - better to have two so they are company for each other.

I think with the Doc - even though they are supposed to be the experts they don't bother about reading up on the subject - it's really rather disgraceful.
The Doc said to me, 'What do you think?' & I said to him that he was the Doctor - I know they are supposed to 'empower the patient' but I think they sit there sometimes & zone out'
    Rant over.
    Welcome.

It's occurred to me that the doctors are seeing a lot more menopausal women these days as the harmful side effects of HRT have been highlighted over the past few years. The drs are therefore only letting women take it for 3-5 yrs max and that must leave an awful lot of women suffering some horrendous menopausal symptoms with drs having nothing to give them.

I've noticed on several occasions when the 'expert' cannot help me with my medical symptoms, there can be a point when I'm treated as if I'm a bit of a nuisance and I'm made to feel i'm wasting their time.

I try not to project into the future, but I dread the day my hrt is stopped. I don't think I could cope with the flushes and utter exhaustion that accompany them. I'd rather risk taking hrt than suffer a life with the hell of extreme flushing etc.

    .

Yes, I think they don't like to admit they don't know or can't help.
So it makes them feel better to act as though we're imagining things!
My Dr was great when it was high blood pressure or whatever. As the expert she would give me the info, but also treat me as an intelligent human being, discuss all the options with me, ask what I thought...
Yet with this I feel she's just stuck a label on me that enables her to ignore the problems...

I spent a small fortune on some tablets from USA that were supposed to make things all wonderful again, but I've had a blinding headache since taking them - connected? Don't know.

I am so fed up I've made another appointment at the Docs - God it's getting like I'm stalking them! I can't financially not emotionally go on like this - someone mentioned that I should get some blood tests done as i shouldn't really have been perscribed HRT without evaluating my hormone levels & I am gonna ask them to but I'm already feeling like cancelling my appointment as I feel a nuisance..............

choille......you are not a nuisance and banish those thoughts from your mind. Your GP is there for when you need them and now is the time, it appears. Thicken your skin if necessary, prepare what you want to say in advance, write it down if necessary. They may not have a ready or easy answer (unfortunately), but you have every right for your feelings to be expressed and recorded and your voice to be heard.

Is there anyone who can go with you, who understands and can support you?

i agree with bronnie choille, write down all u want to say (I often do this when i go) it stops u being sidetracked from what u want to say. if necessary have 2 copies and give one to the dr. u are NOT a nuisance and they need to listen

soryr not been around life has very much got in the way and i am struggling both with that and the menopause symptoms, 1 of which seems to be not sleeping terribly well (course that could be the stress as well) oh well <shrug>

hope everybody else is coping as well as can be expected
