So despite Kevin's assurance that if we PM him he can personally look into it for us, I am now told that Kevin is no longer accepting PMs. Ha.

So....looks like we've wasted our money and won't be getting any refund at all.

Idiots. I am NOT happy.

Yeah, I reckon he's been inundated with complaints! :rotfl:

Seriously though, I'm getting on to Trading Standards about it. Despite what Dealtastic's CS people are telling us, we're entitled to cancel the order and get a refund and they're refusing to do that so I'll be firing off an e-mail to TS reporting their flagrant disregard for the DSR.

Edit: Here's a bit of the DSR that's relavent in our situation:
Can a consumer cancel an order before they receive the goods or where goods are lost in transit?

Yes. Where the Regulations give consumers rights to cancel, this right is unconditional. If consumers cancel before they have received the goods you must refund the total price of the goods, including any delivery charges. Consumers who have cancelled may refuse to accept delivery of the goods. Refusal in such a situation cannot be treated as a breach of contract.

I'm e-mailing Dealtastic now with that and I'll be demanding a refund. I suggest others do likewise.
  • Good luck! I think I may do the same. We are entitled to a refund. It's outrageous they've happily taken our money. I don't know if I should buy the item again somewhere else but it's going to add up to a hell of a lot...

I've actually tracked Kevin down on Facebook and I've messaged him from there, plus I've put angry messages up on their Facebook dealtastic page so other customers can see it and I included link back to this forum, so hopefully other customers will be put off buying from them and wasting their money.

In addition, I've also tweeted about them and sent a public message to their twitter account.

I know how social media marketing works - I used to work as a digital marketing assistant :D

    Annie
  • Thank you. I've just emailed them to that effect and demanded a refund. I wonder if they will oblige.

So am I best to contact my bank and get them to chase them for the money do you think? I think I will now have to get it somewhere else

Sorry mate, meant to reply to this!

If you paid with a Credit Card then yes, get onto them. If you paid with a Debit Card, you're out of luck. The Banks don't give a rat's rear end if you loose your money, but they'll bend over backwards if it's theirs!. Consumers have no protection when using a Debit Card which p's me off no end; it's my money, I deserve to have it protected, don't I? Not according to UK law.

Cyber War! Woohoo! :T I don't Tweet but I do have a Facebook account (which I almost never use!) so I might join the battle! :D

Just sent them an e-mail saying they've got until close of business to refund my money or it's off to Court! I'd get some little satisfaction just knowing they'd have to pay more to defend the Small Claim than they would just refunding me! ;)
  • Haha, yes I love a good ol' cyber war. The great thing about the Facebook page is that I can post and damage their business and reputation and the marketing department won't see the posts until the start of the next working day. By then, some damage would have been done and it would have put off some potential customers. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'll see what response I get tomorrow. Sadly, I paid by a debit card so I won't get any refund from the bank :(

But in the mean time, let the war against deal-not-so-tastic begin! ;)

I plan to fight until they refund me my money or send the bloody item. Then, and only then, will I play nice.

This is an interesting site: http://www.ripofftipoff.net/index.htm

Came by it via the Norfolk Trading Standards website. Needless to say it has a new candidate! :D

Hey annieboo, funny mine was a dave the monkey too! I was told by Kevin that he had personally dealt with it (mmm sounded quite cheesy I thought) so gave him the benefit of the doubt but now am of the opinion it is a scam. Got virtually the same response from customer services as you. I too know the power of social media marketing - you can tweet me @bigtreeflooring and we will out these clowns together. I am on facebook too. Alas, I think this will teach me a valuable lesson to research a company before ordering from them (especially since there was no contact tel no.) I am going to get onto trading standards and my bank tomorrow - paid by debit but think I may be covered under the ultimate reward scheme with hbos. Too tired and too angry tonight. Good news though - Santa will live on in my sons eyes as my husband managed to find the last Dave in Braehead shopping centre tonight. Annieboo - a few companies still have Dave in stock on line - menkind being one of them (I researched them and they seem ok). Good Luck everybody and keep me posted. Merry Christmas one and all (except dealtastic that is!)
Smile though your bank is breaking:)

Good point NeverInDebt! Have posted a review here: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews254062.html

    And here: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.dealtastic.co.uk

Same review, I'm just spreadin' the lov... er, hate! :D

I must be being really thick tonight because I can't see any way of posting to Dealtastic's FB page. Can't even like other's comments. I am logged in, honest!
  • Hello all

I left quite a few reviews last night actually, on trustpilot and another one I can't remember so hopefully they are gathering quite a collection now.

@54druids, I got a reply from Kevin on Facebook but I don't hold out much hope.

Also got these frustrating replies today following my demand of a refund, quoting trading standards:

    Dear Annie,

Thank you for your Email. We are really sorry that you don't received your order yet, but unfortunate we have to wait until the 10 Working days are over. We priciat your patience so far and we really would like to help you but unfortunately we can only help you on Friday the 17.12.10. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

    Kind regards

    Steffi

    and then this

    Steffi

What rubbish!! I'm SOOO angry!! I can't wait anymore because if it doesn't turn up I need to order another one that needs to get there in time for Christmas!

I suspect they actually don't have any stock of Dave the stupid monkey and they are biding their time....:think:
