has anyone tried dealtastic?

I stumbled upon a website called dealtastic

I'm already a groupon fan to help me save money on getting my hair cut and coloured.
This one I saw an ad for. They have 4 items for sale every day.
Looks authentic and goods look kosher, just wondering if anyone had purchased from there and what their experience of the site was?

Just thought it might be handy for the odd cheap xmas gift but wary to try it as there are so many scam sites out there.

Cheers

  • Hi Nannon,

I ordered something from them a week ago, it hasn't arrived and I've sent them 2 emails, neither of which got replies. You are right to be wary, even if my item arrives I won't be using them again.

  • Please see the forum that comes up if you search on zoombits trouble bitterwallet - sorry guys but this website won't allow me to post the URL for it as I'm a newbie - I will be posting a request for my money back from Paypal.............

Well I've heard of them, since I started receiving emails from them when they started trading a couple of months ago. The thing that confused me was that they were sending emails to 2 different accounts. What was more worrying was that the email to my gmail account had my name as printed on my credit card. Now that I've seen the link to Memorybits, I've traced the link back to a Google checkout transaction in 2007 with Memorybits. Since I've only used Google checkout a few times, then this is 100% where the data came from. So regardless of what the connection is, their email database contains addresses from Memorybits customers, that have most certainly been used without consent.

Make up your own mind if you wish to deal with any company who behaves in this manner.

[edit] Also woth noting that they are banned from HUKD for self promotion
  • Pleased to say that, having filed a dispute with Paypal for the non-delivery of my item, I got my money refunded. The representative of Dealtastic who called me (not in response to my emails, only because of the Paypal dispute) told me that my item had been sent and that items only rarely go astray. Seems odd that other rather a lot of customers of the guy that owns the outfit have had the same problem......

mmm think I won't be using these guys.. Sounds a little bit dodgy to me.
Glad to hear things getting sorted tho madaboutsaving !
  • they are spammers, dont buy them anything

they bought the clients database to memorybits/zoombits company who stole the money to a lot of people before go to liquidation
  • I've seen several reviews now with exactly the same wording. They are too well written with a clear marketing slant to counteract the bad reviews on those sites.
Regardless of whether they are trying to get established or not, this is not the way a reputable company acts.

Blimey all doom and gloom in here..was on dealtastic for over an hour on Saturday had a discount code for 5%..good site I think cheap as well!

update: got the code just enter deal5 at checkout to get the discount! hoorah!

I guess you are right, we may be pre-juging the site before giving them time to prove their pedigree.

btw, I see you are new to the website and posted 5 messages in 30mins, 3 of which were in praise of Dealtastic (one has been removed), and have not posted since.

Edit 5-4-2011 - and after posting another bunch of dealtastic deals, now banned
  • have used them and 100% happy. QUID10 gives 10% off, as does CODES10 but can't use both!

Haven't used them but http://stores.ebay.co.uk/dealtasticcouk was suspended on eBay on 9th Dec 2010. Their response on facebook on the 9th Dec 2010, to a question regarding PayPal was "we no longer accept Paypal transactions-we are lowering our prices further and due to the Paypal Transaction charges we felt that this was the best move for our customers"
Personally I don't care about the suspension etc., however any reputable company would simply explain thier situation, rather than lie. This however appears to be the modus operandi of this company.
