    Simple recipe.

Sauté some onions and some garlic. Mash up the corn beef finely and add to the saucepan. Add some tomatoes and a bit of chilli powder. Chuck in some frozen sweetcorn and serve with plain rice.
Getting there... A deal at a time. :T
  • Whenever I've made corned beef pasties I've used raw potatoes and either swede, squash or carrots all cut into 1cm cubes. If you chop them up small you don't need to cook them before you make up your pasties.
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

How about corn beef hash... I just fry an onion then add some carrots and a beef stock cube , cook till the carrots are nearly ready and then cube the corn beef and add to the veg cook till its all soft add mixed herbs if you like , strain, then I either put it in a dish and cover with pastry, or cover with mashed potatoe and serve with veg .... we love it for a change...served with gravy made from the stock

    Hi champys,

There's an older thread with some ideas that may help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Princes corned beef is on offer in Asda at the moment. Its 6 cans for £3 (50p each) at the moment. One can can costs £1.18 in Tesco!

I know there is another thread about the soaring cost of corned beef (I couldnt find it though!), so thought people might want to stock up.

Ok, I was going to make a corned beef hash but have realised I have some more stuff to use up so need some advice please.

I had the idea of layering sliced potatoes, sliced onions, corned beef slices and tomatoes on top but I need to cook it quickly, ie in the next hour!

Will I be better off blasting the potatoes in the microwave for a couple of minutes first to quicken it up and what temp do you think I should bung it into the oven on and for how long? (fan assisted elec oven).

    Ta!

    Ta!

Yes I would half cook the potatoes in the Microwave, then slice them up and put the dish in at about 180c for maybe 40mins?
