Panacklety! Mmmmmmm, we used to practically live on this in the old days when I could feed me and hubby handsomely for about £15 a week (late 1990s), corned beef ain't half shot up in price since then:rotfl:
Chop up onion, carrots & swede into chunks, however much you want or need depending on how many you're feeding. Layer in a casserole dish or slow cooker, top with cubed/crumbled corned beef and cover generously with sliced potatoes. Pour over hot beef stock to just cover and cook very slowly for as long as you can. Thicken with gravy granules or cornflour once it's done if you like. Have bread ready to mop up the juices. My tum's a rumbling just thinking about it!Feeding 2 adults and 5 piglets aged 7 months, 7, 8, 10 & 13. Thank heaven for Aldi!:rotfl:

As the price has shot up recently I do as I have always done for ages which is open the tin and wrap half in foil and freeze and use the other half for part odf a salad then the next night a hash if I can find some reduced cabbage and few spuds Living alone means that buying a small tin is uneconomical so a large tin goes a bit further this way.I love corned beef and usually have a tin in the fridge as it cuts better cold.I try to buy the best I can when its on a special offer as cheap corned beef is too full of fat but a decent one is meatier, so tastier.0

Friend of mine makes corned beef stew and corned beef pasties ( and she is a Cornish girl !!) apparently the corned beef sort of "melts" through the rest of the ingredients and gives it a lovely flavour. I have never tried them but she is a good cook and her family love both recipies. Myself, I reckon you can't beat corned beef hash as most people have said.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0

my hubby used to make us this ace corned beef and onion plait thing - think he fried the onions, added them to the corned beef (mashed up) and then put it on a base on puff (or maybe filo - i dont know the difference PMSL!!) pastry then did some kind of "clever" plait thing with the rest of the pastry. You could just do it without the plait bit tho - make individual pasties.. base then mix then lid on and squish down the edges. He sometimes used to use those little vine ripened baby tomatoes sliced on top of the mix also before putting the top on. In fact, think he may have used a mix of red onion and normal onion.... lol

Corned Beef Hash or Corned Beef pie - the best comfort food ever! Corn beef, mashed up in the bottom of an ovenproof dish, topped with a tin of baked beans and and then a generous helping of mashed potato and grated cheese sprinkled on top. Bake it in the oven (180-200ish) until golden and crispy, about 30-45 minutes. It probably sounds odd but it's delicious honest!"Born to shop, forced to work!"0

Love this - we call it granddad pie in our house as my dad used to make it when we visited. There are lots of variations, I cube the corned beef add a tin of beans and some peas and sweetcorn then top with mash. You can vary the mash with combinations of sweet potato, swede, celeriac. I have been known to add a tin of tomatoes. Mum used to put in raw onion which never quite cooked but my lot wouldn't eat that.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I make my corned beef pie with cubed corned beef and fried onion, and cover with puff pastry...yum!RIP Iain

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll still be making the hash but will try some of the others too.
For anyone who has an Actifry - you can make corned beef hash in it - but if you like to put baked beans in your hash, don't do it till about 2 mins from the end as they dry up very quick.0
