Scotland and NI will get a fair deal...
I'm in Berkshire and the best quote I've got 46.90.
Thanks for your reply though:beer:0 -
Anyone got a view on short term direction? Low tank but I could wait another month.... My instinct is to wait a bit.

using the link paceinternet posted ....£362 for 900 Litres todays priceThere are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

I was initially enthusiastic when first got the link for http://www.oilpricecheck.co.uk/latest.htm, however I can not find anyone with prices to match their so-called average. Where do they get that from? (I know what they describe as their method)
It would be very interesting if posters on here could provide some feedback as to what 'best price' they could get on any given day, compared to oilpricecheck's stated price for the day.
Another disappointment I found yesterday when doing my ring around is that there is now even less competition in the market as the bigger boys grab a bigger slice.
In my area GB Oils (DCC owned) have now bought out (and wiped out) Shell Direct (became EMO Oils then acquired by GB Oils) CPL Petroleum, Bayfords and now Owen Fuels. Its getting harder to find a competitor to quote.
My prices yesterday, in pence per litre ex VAT, quoting for 1000ltrs:- Silvey - 45.00
- Owen Fuels - now EMO
- Severn Fuels - 45.20
- EMO - 48.70
- C P L - EMO
- tankfiller.co.uk - n/a
- boilerjuice.com - 47.49
- Crown Oil UK - didn't bother
- Watson Fuels - 43.90
- directoil.co.uk (is Watson Fuels) - 42.65
- oilpricecheck.co.uk - 38.26
The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -
I've just got 40.60p for 1000l from CPS, although it was Total who came cheapest originally with 40.70, CPS beat it when I rang back though.
Im in Norfolk BTW0 -
Duplicate post from here. No replies so thought I'd try the cheaper oil fuel thread.
Has anyone tried any of these products in their domestic oil? Examples are
ICI Topanol http://www.cpsfuels.co.uk/topanol.html
Boilermax http://www.boilerjuice.com/shop/cat/5/Oil+additives.html/
and there are others. I've tried asking OFTEC, and received this reply:
We understand there are a number of claimed fuel enhancing products on the market, commonly promoted as creating cleaner combustion, increased fuel economy and lower emissions. Unfortunately, we do not have resources to investigate the validity of the claims and therefore cannot comment on how effective they really are. We have previously approached companies and requested independent evidence of such claims, but this information has never been presented to us.
Anecdotal evidence would be useful, but better still, any oil techie people out there with information?
Or suggestions about how to get independant research done, given Oftec's 'resource' issue.0 -

I've no idea, but do you fill your car up with "super" unleaded (assuming it's not a diesel of course!)...0 -
Given a bunch of unquantified claims I just don't believe them.
I have an AGA and this statement "The oil in the fuel feed pipe is effectively cooked by the burner (oxidises), so there is fall-out to and build-up of carbon (gum formation) that eventually chokes the fuel supply." is true.
It takes me about 30 minutes to pull the burner, clean out the carbon from the pot, run a drill down the feed pipe entry hole, replace.
I'm sure I'll still have to do this, every year, and I'll be out by the price of the additive. So - it's a firm NO here.0 -
I'm impressed but puzzled to read that you can find heating oil for 24p per litre in North Dorset. I live in Somerset, near Bridgwater but the best price I can find is 44p per ltr +VAT. Can anyone suggest how I can halve my oil bills (or just reduce them)?0
