I've just ordered 1000l - 26.6p from Total Butler - the next best price I could achieve was 30.9p from our local buying group.

Downside is we've got to eke out what's left until 10th of March.

Total Butler worked for us at 29.52 this week too. I've just got a Boiler Juice quote for 36.5 (before any group buying discount), so I've saved £120 not using Boiler Juice on these numbers!

Group purchasing for heating oil is such a huge money saver (we've saved £10,000 in three years) that I started a directory to help people to find their nearest syndicate.

Are you a member of a syndicate? Come on over and make sure yours is listed www.oilconsolidation.co.uk.

Wanna join a syndicate? Come on over to www.oilconsolidation.co.uk see if there is one near you. If there isn't - I'll show you how to start one.

Do you RUN a syndicate. You are double welcome! Come on over to www.oilconsolidation.co.uk and make sure you get listed.

Just tried searching for a syndicate on your site Richard, and it turned up the nearest one...584 miles away :rotfl: (Was actually looking to see whether our village consortium was on there, clearly not but I will pass the site address onto our coordinator). As far as I can tell, you only have the Broad Town one listed (so far)?

Yep - until it grows a little it is a bit of a joke. So far I have just my own syndicate on there. We have a success story, but I want to hear of more success stories!

Computers have a very literal definition of nearest. Have you heard of "Beverley Hills 90201"? Try 90201 as your postal code.

I've just scored my second syndicate. Maybe he's closer to you? Given enough data I can triangulate where you are! ;)

Anyone tried the Oilclub store in the buyers-union dot org it seems there is a listing there for every postal town area in the uk. Listings then go to a reverse auction where the lowest priced oil supplier wins the business.

Oh to have the option of Boilerjuice or similar! Scottish Fuels here and no real competition. Got my tank filled a couple of weeks ago and paid 39p per litre. Hopefully it was a good move, as our petrol/diesel prices have just gone up again. So, hoping that we don't see price rises like we saw last summer....

Has anybody considered replacing their LPG or Oil boiler for an Air Source Heat Pump boiler? they are over 300% efficient and the cost of installing are comparable to replacing boiler and oil tank...and upgrading your controls.... no 'tie ins' or contracts... they run on electricity, all the manufacturers are producing them from Mitsubishi, Daikin, Dimplex, Danfoss, Worcester Bosch, etc..try reseaching renewables ASHP in the midlands, I no longer have oil as I have replaced with the Mitsubishi Ecodan system, I have now saved over £740 since it was fitted October 08, I hope this helps those of you worried about the fuel increases this winter, or the governments proposal to introduce a climate levy tax on fossil fuels starting with oil.....then gas.....

start looking now for alternatives.... you can get grants upto £900 for ASHP's from the Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) by using the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited installers and equipment on the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) from the energy Saving Trust.
There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't! ;)
