Asda Complaint unhygenic item in bag..

It doesn't seem like a big thing, and it's likely not the store's fault at all - it's just one of those things. Probably down to a mucky customer as one person suggested.
P.S. I licked this reply before posting it.
The OP isn't making a big thing about it - again, it down to the way it was handled. Good customer service is easy - getting it wrong is easier.0 -

Like most people in such circumstances, all she wanted was an apology (which costs nothing) and a replacement item. Instead, the store did not take her seriously and she gets a load of abuse here.
No wonder these issues get out of hand - next time I'd be minded to take to the local paper.
Erm did you read this part of the OPs first post
Or maybe even this?Missy_Spud wrote: »
would you be expecting a bit more as an apology for finding something like this?, i spend over £100 with them each shop i do and im really not happy
yeah i am hoping for a little more than an apology, even if its a £2 voucher
This indicates that they are wanting something more then just an apology would you not say?one of the famous 5

I totally agree - the OP was expecting MORE - wouldn't you? As she said, a £2 voucher would have sufficed for her. Personally I would have expected all the contents of the contaminated bag replaced immediately without further inconvenience as a minimum. a £10 voucher or decent bottle of wine would have shown that they cared, even if really they didn't. Lets remember, this is not something that should be in the item like a slug in a lettuce or caterpillar in a tin of tomatoes.0 -

Lets also remember that it wasnt IN anything. it was on the outside of the packet. It may have even got there from it being put into the basket/trolley too.
In fact whilst i appreciate that having OCD must be very bad what does the OP do when they are out shopping? Do they disinfect the handles of the trolley/basket? Think of the amount of germs that are on those things. Going to claim compo for that too?one of the famous 5

OCD has got nothing to do with this issue, other than make it more serious than it already is. This is a hygienic issue made worse by poor customer service.
I wouldn't mock mental illness - you may suffer with it one day!0 -

I think you've blown it out of proportion as much as the OP.
What happened was that an external factor (another customer) stuck some chewing gum onto the pack. The OP would have selected it and had the chance to see if the product was damaged, she would have picked it up from the trolley/basket to the conveyor, the checkout clerk would have briefly scanned it and passed it back to the OP to put into a bag. Therefore the Op had more opportunities to spot something than the store or checkout operator.
Who knows, maybe the OP took a bus home and someone on the bus flicked it into her bag?The man without a signature.0 -

OCD has everything to do with the issue as the Op made a point of stating they had it at the very start of the thread. There are many places where this gum that was stuck to the outside - not inside remember - of the packet.
They got £10 credited to them and thats about the best they can expect reallyone of the famous 5

The only flawed part of your explaination is she didn't buy it in store - it was a home delivery..... Sorry0 -

Agreed, all she wanted someone to say "sorry" and give her £2 to replace the rice.0 -
