He has credited £10 to my asda account but to be honest i don't think im going to shop there again as if i do have a complaint it takes them weeks to sort out,
so after all that about wanting compo, u get it and now don't think u'll shop there again. HIGHlarious really...
  • Who said i wanted compo? i think if you read through the posts it was other peoples assumptions which have made you think this, all i wanted was an apology and a refund.

You got a refund and much more...you have got compensation. Unless there was any open fresh food 'contaminated' why should they refund you? You threw everything in the bag away even though gum on the outside of a sealed packet won't have actually damaged it. Not sure why they would have to refund you for all of that but you've got a tenner out of it anyway so I'd say you've done well out of it

Not nice but it is probably no worse than you normally get but cannot see, food will have been handled by customers who could have blood, urine, mucus etc on their hands. The home shopping pickers don't look for best dates etc they take from the front which will usually be the most mauled goods.

It's not just the shop floor is it, it's the van driver, its all while it sits in the warehouse, and its the delivery driver to the store, and the person that packed the food, and so on, whats the odds.

Either way the customer ends up with a bag of shopping that has sombodys spit in.

I would want a complete refund on the bag of shopping.

    Hilarious! And ridiculous, you berk!

What about all those members of staff, not to mention the customers who had a big poo and didn't wash their hands, you've got BUM SCRAPINGS on your shopping! What about the van driver who was picking his nose, then carried your shopping in, you've got NOSE GOLD all over your shopping!

Lets have Asda contained within a big sterile bubble with every item of food contained within its own personal sterile bubble. One customer in at a time (in a clean suit clearly) followed by a complete sterilisation of all produce before the next customer can go in.

    That'll work.

I just cannot believe the front of some people in this forum. At no pint did the OP say they wanted "compo" or made themselves out to be a moneygrabber. Like most people in such circumstances, all she wanted was an apology (which costs nothing) and a replacement item. Instead, the store did not take her seriously and she gets a load of abuse here.

No wonder these issues get out of hand - next time I'd be minded to take to the local paper.

It doesn't seem like a big thing, and it's likely not the store's fault at all - it's just one of those things. Probably down to a mucky customer as one person suggested.

P.S. I licked this reply before posting it.

    HAHA :rotfl:

A voucher to replace the unacceptable product would suffice. This would then be a form of apology and Asda would keep it on record in case anything like that happens again.

I don't get the argument about the member of staff or customer caused this. It is just as likely that the truck driver that delivered the goods is at fault or a factory worker or an illegal immigrant in the back of a truck. Either way through the Sale of Goods act, Asda would be responsible...
