Ditto. Plus an apology and promise that they are investigating how it could have happened and will highlight to all staff involved the distress it caused.

yeah i am hoping for a little more than an apology, even if its a £2 voucher as now i have to go out and buy the products again which were in my shopping bag along with the chewing gum, you dont know what whoever that gum belonged to had!
its certainly put me off having any home shopping with them delivered again, think i'll try tesco next time.0 -

That's abit of a wild bet.
1. Member of staff sticks gum to pack of rice - potential consequences:- disciplinary action, possibly dismissal (complete breakdown of trust?)
2. Chavvy Customer wants to get rid of gum whilst shopping - sticks it on pack of rice - potential consequences - well, virtually none.
Why would a member of staff do it? They probably aren't allowed gum on the shop floor!
New pack of rice and apology is all they can really do, maybe a £2 voucher for the inconvenience. I don't think they can be responsible for the extra impact due to OCD, otherwise they'd have to start charging more for OCD customers to cover the related risks if special actions / considerations are needed.0 -

It's not just the shop floor is it, it's the van driver, its all while it sits in the warehouse, and its the delivery driver to the store, and the person that packed the food, and so on, whats the odds.
Either way the customer ends up with a bag of shopping that has sombodys spit in.
I would want a complete refund on the bag of shopping.0 -
Think you will probably just get an apology from them or a couple of pounds of vouchers.
I suffer with OCD too and shopping can be a very stressful experience but I tend to do that rather than home delivery because of the amount of people that will have been involved in my order (i.e. picking, delivery, etc.). But don't let it put you off shopping in Asda if that is where you want to go.now mum of 4!!!0 -

Way over the top.
For one, it is highly unlikely that the gum found it's way onto the box during distribution, the boxes are gathered together and plastic wrapped, plus more plastic wrapped around the pallet. Likewise it is unlikely while in the warehouse because usually they will only be unwrapped whilst being stacked on the shelf.
A shelf stacker is far more likely to spit the gum in the rubbish bag rather than go to the strange hassle of sticking it to a box, especially as it would only take a 3 minute investigation to figure out who was stacking the product.
Delivery driver is hardly likely to reach into a customers bag to dispose of gum, would probably just spit it on the road.
This leaves the very real probability that some kid or filthy chav customer did it.
I'd say that a £5 or £10 voucher as a token of good will is ample enough apology. Your OCD is irrelevant, although I sympathise as my Sister-in-law is OCD.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

What difference will a £2 voucher make? What difference would any money make?
Why do you think this would not happen in Tesco?Gone ... or have I?0 -
a £2 voucher will cover some of the cost of things ive thrown away due to being stuck to the rice packet because of the chewing gum, im not saying it wouldnt happen in tesco's but it has put me off shopping with asda again unless im going to asda myself for the food so i can check packaging, if it was me id have noticed that on the back of the packet putting it through the checkout/packing it up etc as its very noticeable so im pretty sure one of their staff will have seen it and just not bothered replacing it with a different packet. I may be wrong but how someone would not have felt/seen it i only lifted out of the bag and i became aware of it.0
