a £2 voucher will cover some of the cost of things ive thrown away due to being stuck to the rice packet because of the chewing gum, im not saying it wouldnt happen in tesco's but it has put me off shopping with asda again unless im going to asda myself for the food so i can check packaging, if it was me id have noticed that on the back of the packet putting it through the checkout/packing it up etc as its very noticeable so im pretty sure one of their staff will have seen it and just not bothered replacing it with a different packet. I may be wrong but how someone would not have felt/seen it i only lifted out of the bag and i became aware of it.
well shopping for home delivery doesnt go through normal checkouts and is scanned and packed as you pick it off the shelve ,
why would you throw packets away , just because the outside is a bit sticky doesn't mean the products are tainted

in that case they must have seen it then as the barcode is on the back of the packet! which is where the chewing gum is

OMG Have you seen what animals and insects do on fruit & veg?

I'd stick to canned goods in future if I were you

your assuming that it was on the packet before it left the shop
you do not know how it got there and when
it was obviously a mistake but its not a big deal

S long as the gum ddnt touch the food itself then id just peel it off, throw it away and wash my hands and be done with it, not worth sending an email for a bit of gum, could think of more important issues to bother customer services with, OP you did what you felt was necessary and you have a £2 voucher, it could have happened anywhere though so i wouldnt stop shoppig there because of this incident

What difference will a £2 voucher make? What difference would any money make?
The money is an acknowledgement that they have made a mistake. If they have to pay out every time this happens then they are more likely to do something about it.

yeah i am hoping for a little more than an apology, even if its a £2 voucher as now i have to go out and buy the products again which were in my shopping bag along with the chewing gum, you dont know what whoever that gum belonged to had!

its certainly put me off having any home shopping with them delivered again, think i'll try tesco next time.
£2 voucher might just cover the soap and disinfectant that you will be using in the coming days, weeks, months unless you use £7 a pop luxury soap :D
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.
