@MikeyPGT ask your question on the "in my home" section, it might be something you can sort yourself. The people on that part of the forum are all kinds of clever and helpfulMikeyPGT said:Sitting room fell to 8C this morning so decided to put the heating on for an hour to take the chill off - guess what? Heating doesn't work. Boiler fires up, little radiator picture comes on but absolutely no heat in the pipes or radiators. Guess it'll be snuggling in the fleecy slanket til I can get someone out to look at it.

Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.7 -
I had it on for an hour this morning and when I got home my husband had just switched it on again. There was frost this morning and then sleet so it will be on for quite a few hours today as I do feel chilly.4

Package due so up earlier than usual (8.15) today (package arrived 8.39 thanks DPD) lounge/kitchen was 44 - it was proper cold outside but nice walking in the sunshine which reaches the top of the doorframe about 10 this time of year and it's a couple of hours after that the 3 treble windows are fully in the sun - unfortunately early joy vanished along with the totally blue sky and the sun by 11 so almost no heating effect (now 45) indoors and outside it's still below freezing and uniformly overcast. (-5 or 6 due tonight)4

You understate matters, it was actually snow! But the sun came out by 11am and all was well again.Wednesday2000 said:I had it on for an hour this morning and when I got home my husband had just switched it on again. Time to put some whisky in your water! No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.5 -
I’ve been keeping my central heating at 17 with two layers of socks but I still have chilblains on my feet. Mainly when I’m working from home and not moving around enough, I think.
So I’ve decided to go up to 18 at least when I’m sitting at the desk for most of the day. I can keep my body warm enough no problem; it’s the feet that are the issue. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4 -
I know. I just popped to the shop and my husband is putting out the rubbish and then the heating will be firmly on this evening! We are still over £250 in credit with OVO, luckily.Rosa_Damascena said:We fall into the yellow weather warning zone so tonight is gonna be cold. Time to put some whisky in your water!5 -
That's incredibly bad luck - hope it's soon fixed.MikeyPGT said:Sitting room fell to 8C this morning so decided to put the heating on for an hour to take the chill off - guess what? @elsien, there's a link, a few pages back, to an article which recommends raising your feet off the floor as it's a relatively cold area to be in contact with. My preferred solution is to put them on a hot water bottle, but a footstool or cushion probably does the trick.
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

It's colder tonight than any night this winter
My heating is on all day now at 20/21 costing about 79 last month which is 5 below Octopus estimate dual fuel
I normally set it at 15 when I go to bed but tonight it will have to be 18
The bill will go up to 100 and maybe a bit more for the next 3 months but I'm 400 in credit and DD of 705 -
The heating is on but the Friday night kitchen disco has started! The thermostat will come down as soon as I warm up a bit.Eta: I have retired to bed early with a book and the iPad having disco'd and houseworked my way through the evening. I am like the Princess and the Pea in reverse - after my hot shower I installed myself under a heated blanket, quilted throw and 2 x 15tog duvets. Thats on top of the thermals, fleece PJs and bed socks. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
