So I’ve decided to go up to 18 at least when I’m sitting at the desk for most of the day. I can keep my body warm enough no problem; it’s the feet that are the issue.
I am not a doctor, this is not medical advice etc. But I hope it helps.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Last winter I had all the night storage heaters on for one day and some of them on also for one day. Midday today it was 43 and I did use 30 mins of a fan heater (on 2 kw) which got that end of the room up to 48. Outside still below freezing and foggy - temperature matters a bit but it's the lack of sun that really hurts as it stops indoors warming up to a comfortable level which the insulation then helps to maintain.3

I've had my heating set at 16 degrees all day, and turning it down to 13 degrees overnight for almost a week as its been below freezing outside. Today it has been -4 degrees outside, with freezing fog all day. Fortunately I have quite a bit of credit built up with my energy company. I wear a dressing gown over my clothes for extra warmth and also use a waffle throw when sitting on the couch as I feel the cold more when sitting still.3

Boiler fires up, little radiator picture comes on but absolutely no heat in the pipes or radiators. Guess it'll be snuggling in the fleecy slanket til I can get someone out to look at it.
@elsien, there's a link, a few pages back, to an article which recommends raising your feet off the floor as it's a relatively cold area to be in contact with. My preferred solution is to put them on a hot water bottle, but a footstool or cushion probably does the trick. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.6 -

So much to read, so little time.3 -
This is an interesting topic. Right now as I write this I am sitting on the sofa with my feet up and my electric throw on,with a cup of tea at the side😃. Importantly I am dressed. I say that as our neighbour,a body building fitness guy ( nice chap) lives in shorts and t shirt. His boiler has packed up and he cannot get help for a week,so we lent him a fan heater and oil based radiator, and also told him to put some clothes on!Since my illness we have had to remove our solid fuel heating of nearly 30 years, as my wife in the future doesn’t want the aggro of cleaning and hauling logs etc in. So right now we are totally electric. It works very well! There are hardcore ‘ gas owners’ on the energy section who would slag anyone off like me for saying we are all electric, but used thoughtfully it is not that bad.Right now is the peak heating time, but we allow for it monthly. I wouldn’t say say it applies here, but budgeting is the key. It’s where many struggle because of lack of it. We are not wealthy, but we do ok ,and are comfortable. Many houses ( including neighbouring ones) are wooden floored,or tiled as though they are in Greece or Turkey 🤣. Our rooms are doored in the original 130 year design. They are carpeted too. They have curtains, not blinds ,and we turn stuff off! Even without heating the room I am in now averages 15.3 c degrees all day.One of my friends is a gas engineer, and his son ,his business partner,is heading towards installing insulation and electric air source heating too,as he sees in his young future the move towards gas being moved away from. Given our 30 years of wood/ coal heating now gone at home, I can also see restrictions on that in future years too.As my 90 year old mother said recently,” this central heating lark has only been around about for most folks for 40 + odd years, and now we are going back to the late 70’s and before.”6

I woke up feeling quite chilly, but I opened the windows to let some air in before putting on the heating. I had a cup of tea to warm me up while I waited. It was very cold again last night. My dog didn't want to go out to the garden. She kept running in very quickly afterwards.
I have changed the duvet covers this morning and put a thicker one on as that seems to make a lot of difference. I might start putting a blanket on the bed as well.5 -
Overcast again but a bit warmer out 7 today and 6 tonight but no full sun in the 14 day forecast - need sun between 11 and 2 to get in the windows and make a difference - 47 indoors (midday) and really appreciate the slippers and hot water bottle, nice and warm in bed under the duvets.5

Most definitely on! The light covering of snow we had on Thursday night is still with us and was topped up last night by another couple of inches. And today we have freezing fog as well.
Daytime and nighttime temperatures here are the same i.e. zero and there's sleet forecast for tonight. It isn't dark yet but I have the curtains closed already - it's so depressing out there. And there's no sun on the horizon for the next 10 days. I hate winter and will be hibernating as much as I can.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.5
