You made a statement (i.e. Siemens owns Bosch) which is wrong so I corrected it.
It wasn't based on your opinion, it was based upon what you believed was fact.
If I'd have got out of bed on the wrong side, I'd have picked out all the other things you said that were wrong, but I didn't. I just wanted to make people aware of the FACTS...
The place where you put your fact comment was next to an opinion...
As for who owns who - really just semantics. I know that when I phoned 'Siemens' I had to state which brand I wanted to discuss. I am but a mere consumer and to me that means they are co-owned, in the same stable call it what you like, makes no difference to consumers.0 -
silly question HOTPOINT MAKE THE WORST (well them and Indesit) EVERYTHING they are the most UNreliable
most popular and cheapest for spares (because you certainly need a lot of them if you own one.) my washer is hotpoint,
my fridge freezer is hotpoint,my tumble drier is hotpoint,
my dishwasher is hotpoint, my double built in oven is belling as i got it cheap and brand new
out the local paper, when i replace it i will be getting a hotpoint, (fingers crossed)
I edited some incorrections in your post Karl.0 -
I tend to buy Siemens rather than Bosch because they come with a full 5 years warranty rather than the 2-year that Bosch offer. My Siemens washing machine in fact came with a 10 year warranty, although it is now 9 years old and has never missed a beat. I just today bought a Siemens dishwasher because having compared it with the exact equivalent Bosch model quite literally side by side in my local John Lewis, the build quality on the Siemens seemed better. The trims were sturdier, and yes, it looked better and the control layout was far easier to use. Bosch do currently (and unusually) have a 4 year warranty offer promotion on a couple of models, but the Siemens had the usual 5 years, plus a massive discount for the honour of taking away my old dishwasher, which overall made it the better deal.
The ultra- low water consumption on these machines is frankly a turn-off for me - if you read the specs carefully, then the one low water-using cycle is just shy of 3 hours long (!!!!!!? eco??) and if you raise the temperature or shorten the cycle, or even select the 'dry the dishes properly' mode, then the water and energy consumption increases dramatically. A marketing con, it seems to me.
I really wanted a Miele, and was perfectly prepared to buy one, but I have a particular dislike of that ridiculous cutlery shelf thing that seems to be the current dishwasher fashion. No way is anyone in my household realistically going to stand there carefully and lovingly slotting the cutlery individually into those ridiculous racks, and as I have seen first hand on my sister's machine, if you don't do all the precise arranging and just sling it in, the cutlery ends up covered in marks and puddles of water. Plus you can't fit anything remotely useful into the top basket as a result. Silly design.0 -
my bosch dishwasher has just died on me and is 13years and 1 month old used daily by a family of 5, I wash everything in it pots pans the lot. Maybe I was just lucky only thing that has caused a problem was the delay timer which we now have on a timer plug.0
