We had a Tricity Bendix dishwasher for 15 years, and it never gave a single problem. Then, when we put in a new kitchen, we "upgraded" to a Rangemaster integrated dishwasher - was installed in December, and given trouble since. We have had 2 different engineers sent out by the company, and still wash is not satisfactory - wet cutlery & glassware, rusty cutlery, dirty dishes, tablet not dissolved - it seems to have a mind of its own. Have tried every wash programme, & every advice given, but no good. Sometimes reasonably clean wash, but more often than not needs 2nd wash, & even then I have 3 times had to unload whole dishwasher & wash everything by hand. Looking for refund or replacement now, but haven't been guaranteed it yet...0

Domestic appliances get poorer in quality every year, so all recommendations are out of date.
Our first dishwasher was the cheapest Indesit, and lasted 19 years.
The second, another Indesit, lasted 7 years.
The current Matsui has packed up after 3 years.
So now I am undecided between buying the cheapest and throwing it out after a year, or a Miele in the hope it really does last 20.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Bought a Miele freezer (aa rated) which was replaced three times in two years and Miele were without doubt the worst appliance company I have ever dealt with.
One of the numerous engineers on numerous visits said "Buy their washing machines and dishwashers but don't buy the freezers or fridges." Also bought a Miele washing machine and fridge at the same time. Washing machine performs very well but catches dropped off the fridge. Replaced our two year old Miele freezer with a Bosch and never regretted it, or the savings on stress levels waiting for the next breakdown!0 -
'Buy their dishwashers or washing machines but don't buy their fridges or freezers.' Three replacement freezers in two years and he was absolutely right (We went and bought a Bosch just to save the stress of lost food and being without a freezer for several weeks - in the summer.)
I'm just about to grit my teeth and buy a Miele dishwasher after our 5 year old Bosch has just packed up - their (Miele) customer service if you complain is appalling and intransigent and you have to sue the poor bloody shop who sold it to you who were in fact excellent, and far better than Miele with customers.
The Bosch was good and had a hammering in a family of five (every day and sometimes twice) but as I'm now in my 60's I hope this next one will see me out.0 -
Wow, there's a lot of duff info on this thread other than from some people who either are in the industry or have done a bit of research.

Well, the drawer is at the very top where the spray is diminished and the heat lessened, so the jury is out on that one.
Doesn't stack up. Heat rises, the top of the machine will be the hottest.0 -
Buy german-always and for everything!
Bosch dishwashers were a best buy in a which report not so long ago and some models are very reasonable-if you look on the john lewis website the slimline bosch classix model is about £299, otherwise Miele are the gold standard for white goods particularly washing machines and washer/dryers, pretty pricey though0 -

I have a very basic Neff dishwasher, model S4130 purchased in 1994 and its still going strong. Only problem is that the lever handle has broken off.0

Don't get a SMEG! It has never cleaned properly, it does not stack much and mine has just died after only a couple of years!0

I have an Indesit dishwasher and has been brilliant, I think it is about 5 years old and still going strong and washes well.0
