Hi Looking for nice pub grub in york, not really chain owned places, i seem to remember a pub just a little way out of the town centre, think it might be the "Piper"? Think it was near a roundabout?
Cheers Carmel0 -
Not heard of that.
The Lowther is nice, just down from the Dungeons.
Old Starre Inn up near Evil Eye opposite Bettys is good for a drink I've heard.
Further out there's Cross Keys and The Charles. Cross Keys has just been done up so very nice inside.
Failing that all I really know in the town centre is chains or restaurants. See earlier poston this thread.

South/Central Manchester
Didsbury- if you like a relaxed spanish atmosphere with great food and reasonable prices, then forget about La Tasca but go over the road to Casa Tapas, small and perfectly formed! It's on Wilmslow rd in Dids Village.
Rusholme- some of the curry places are appauling but the best is Spicy Hut on Wilmslow Rd
City centre/lunch venue- try the Manchester Art Gallery it's self service (hidden round a corner!) but quite a restauranty setting, proper silver cutlery, homemade cakes and lovely lovely food- it's about £6-£7 for a main course (eg Grilled salmon in sauce with seasonal veg and roasted new potatoes) but you would pay that somewhere like debenhams? You will also be contributing to the upkeep of the gallery which is really worth a look round too. They do a kids lunch for £3.50 too.
South city centre- Eigth Day vegetarian cafe and shop - I am not vegetarian but this place gets the thumbs up. Thay have diffferent dishes all the time, the last i had was a Malaysian Laksi which was out of this world and really cheap. It's a workers co-operative so yor money is going to a worthy cause too!
Family- Chorlton: Head Over Heels play centre wins over the wacky warehouse type places hands down. It is not dirt cheap but you get what you pay for. THey have a proper chef and for instance, the kids fish fingers are actual hand cut slices of salmon and cod dipped in batter, the pizza is handmade dough- kids meals are about £3. Adults can get a fancy (freshly made) baguette with nice salad for about £5.50 or they have chicken main courses or thai fishcakes and such for around £7. The cafe and play area (huge climbing/sliding/softplay thing) are adjacent with an open doorway and windows right across so the kids can run around while you eat no prob at all. Nice coffees and freshly made smoothies too.0 -

hey there :j
nice places to eat in blackpool:
The Air Ballon, squires gate lane, blackpool airport. tel:01253 362400
child friendly, excellent childrens meals for £2.50, big wacky warehouse.
adult meals buy one get one free, on all meals all days.
we regularly eat here, the food is lovely and the portions are large. for a family of four, with meals and drinks it usually costs us around £15-£20.
Paramount Chinese Restaurant, 77 highfield road. tel:01253 341869
children allowed but not really child friendly. an afternoon banquet is £6.25 pp and the restaurant is very highly reccommended, with excellent service and quality. booking not needed in the afternoon but it does get quiet busy in the evening, so probably reccommended. (could be a long wait if you dont book!) 3 course evening meal for 2 people is around £40
Mamma's Italian Restaurant And Pizzeria, 40 topping st. tel:01253 622345
children allowed (they offer smaller portions for a cheaper price) cant remember if they have high chairs or not, might be worth enquiring. other than that, not a lot for children to do.
pizza and pasta are half price in the afternoon and also in the evening between 5:30pm and 7pm. this is a personal favourite and also a highly reccommended eaterie. a 3 course meal for 2 people usually costs us around £25 (excluding drinks, but they are cheap enough anyway) but the meals are so huge and filling we usually share a starter and dessert.
hope they help someone xxx:heart2: corrinna xx :heart2:0
