  • the monro in duke street is lovely , home cooked local produce, and 3 courses at set times for a tenner, look on website for online booking offers ( like 3 courses for price of 2 , and sometimes a free bottle of organic wine)
  • Has anyone tried the Coconut Lagoon at Kenilworth. An indian (south indian to be precise) with a difference and the food is great.

Service is great too, and not expensive when compared to some french restaurants.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
  • I recommend if anyone is near Rainham in Essex.

Willow Farm. Its a Brewers Fayre resteraunt and if you go to the main site online you can download money off vouchers, But as a quick note that partucular resteraunt has won the Kitchen of Excellence award two years running, and they always score very high in the mystery shoppper polls and in reviews. The service is friendly, The food is good, and the childrens meals are very reasonable.

Oxton Village has two great restaurants next door to each other but very different styles - Villa Jazz ~ large portions of traditional english food with a twist, the menu changes monthly and they do an early bird special and great Sunday lunch deals. Bamboo ~ Thai/Cantonese, another good early bird special £10.95, quite intimate restaurant.
The other restaurant in the block is a french place Fraiche which actually boasts 3 AA stars but thats reflected in the price. We've never been there, so I can't recommend it! but thats around £50 per head

In Staffordshire there is a chain of bistros called Pastiche, they do a 3 course lunch menu for £5 and a 3 course evening menu for £10, the food is a bit different e.g. pork streaks with blue cheese mash and apricot gravey (from evening menu). The food tastes devine, the drinks are very expensive (usually have a jug of water) but this place is well worth a visit, I know of Pastiche in Stafford, Lichfield, Cannock, Burton-on-trent, really good menu that changes monthly. They have a website www.pastiche.co.uk

LOL! I've just clicked on this link and got taken to a site for roadsigns!

Am actually looking for somewhere good to take teenagers for lunch next Saturday in/near Stoke-on-Trent - visiting student son for birthday and don't know the area at all (and son doesn't know anywhere nice to eat for the obvious reason, ha ha). Any ideas for me, please, anyone?

  • Me and oh like The Sadagar, an indian restaurant on church road in Gatley tel: 01614287171, Absolutely spot on with the food and very reasonable prices. They also do a sunday lunch offer too, and reduced prices for OAP's and kids. Every time a group of us go in there we get a free drink. All round top place.
