Thanks for that Guess Who, well I did get through straight away this morning, went through the form with them, and it has now gone off, with the direct debit, sent a cheque for the connection and first month's sub, which they said would not go through until I was connected. Looks like if I go off on 1 December, it will be 10 days after that, so no internet until then.
I mentioned inclusive web hosting, yes its an old form, they do not offer that now.
Also gone for static ip address, and monthly contract. I suggested to them that as we have to pay to hold on, they have a queueing system with numbers ie, you are at position 1, or 13 or whatever, that way one knows how long one is going to hold on, and if its 13 you try again later!! They said they would take that on board and tell the powers that be. I have had to attach a letter explaining about V21, so have mentioned it in that also.
Lets hope NewNet will be a happier place to be than V21/biscit!!
Regards and thanks again oap0 -
Well done oap, sounds like you have things well underway. Once the order is placed, Newnet do say 10 days to be on the safe side, but if you're lucky it will happen before then.
I hope you also ticked the box for email?Lets hope NewNet will be a happier place to be than V21/biscit!!
It certainly is for myself, i hope it will be so for you too
The big lessons for people from the recent fiasco are probably not to sign up to long contracts, particularly ones that may be expensive to exit, and not to use a card to pay the monthly dues, DD is far simpler to cancel!
Newnet certainly ticks those boxes.
The problem that occurred with the usage graph/meter has now been resolved. It's now back online and is in fact showing lower readings than i might have expected.
To be fair to them they hit the ground running this morning and held their hands up, taking full responsibility for the problem.
So that's good news, it restores faith in the system0 -
Thanks Guess Who, well I had to put a username and password on the form, and when I spoke with them we sorted it out.
I mentioned the problem and she said that although things had gone haywire, the actual usage for the customer was all right, and was accurate, I THINK she said the problem was on what you saw, not the actual system. That was ok.
They seem pretty efficient so far and polite etc, and very helpful on the phone.
Thanks againf or all your help, I wonder if any of our other fellow posters are going to join New Net?
Cheers oap0 -

Has anyone had any money back from v21/biscit that was taken in extra payments during the October turmoil?
Tonight I can't log on to the members area to contact them, this previously worked once I had been given a new password.
I know it's not really connected to this forum , but following oaps trials and tribulations i've been wondering how you calculate your monthly useage when considering BB packages.
For example I am probably online 25hrs/mth consisting of looking up things, updating programs, a few emails and reading this forum. How do I guesstimate my useage?
Night for now.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
HI, this is probably absolutely no use to you at all, but I asked the question to NewNet and they said unless you download films, videos, files etc, lite user was sufficient, I shall wait and see. I use my computer similar to what you are saying.
I have signed up to Usage - 3gb to 15gb monthly , whatever that means!!
Regards oap0 -
Nice one, zacspeed! I got cut off by v21/biscit BB and my dial-up logon authenticated OK but wouldn't connect to any site. You are a life saver! Ta m8!0

Hi Spud, I feel I need to try and help as everyone has been so good to me, in the listings for internet access, above the V21 thread there is a sticky called how to check your bandwith, this might help, regards oap0

However, from what you say, a 2GB cap would be more than adequate for your needs.
