I wrote to someone at V21 this morning and gave them my details; username and password.
The chap wrote back and told me that he had managed to connect using my details and that it worked fine from where he was.
I wasn't sure whether he'd done something before managing to logon, and afetr asking him this, his answer wasn't very conclusive, and seemed to suggest that he'd done a reset of my account after managing to login.
(as an aside, I also metioned that I can't login to the members area. I've always thought that this was a way that I could check my status while i was at work. However, he said that this was "down" at the moment).
SO. If he hasn't done anything to my account the wasn't done before, has anyone any ideas what could be stopping me from connecting??
Before answering that, please note that:
1. I can dial-up and login using the PAYG V21 emergency service and also Freeserve. So I think my modem is working ok.
2. I've "remade" the connection so many times now using New Connection Wizzard that I could do it in my sleep.
3. I was able to connect to Fast4 before all this started.0 -
Members area up and running two minutes ago.
Message I left over a week ago still unanswered.
Looks like my old speed-mail address lost forever.
Although it gives a choice to create a new V21 email address, these don`t work either.
Luckily hotmail is my main address,so sticking with it.0 -
Hi Capt Slog,
is it this panel from the v21 members page you are trying?
http://portal.v21.co.uk/index.asp?exec=members&channel=members%20login
[Edit]
The connection issue can probably be down to authentication issues (username/pw) or using the wrong dialup connect number?0 -
Hi, Capt Slog,
Thanks for the pm.
I can't really say anything definitive. One of my speculations is that as the transfer of customers from Fast4butreallyV21 to V21butreallyBiscit went awry possibly, in part at least, to that misunderstanding about who 'owned' the customers a certain amount of duff information got transferred to Biscit.
If that is so, it could be that the incorrect data is being sorted out by Biscit in segments. I wouldn't keep rechecking your settings but what you might try is to use a friend's computer. I take it you're using dial-up and you should be able to connect from any computer. If your settings are correct (including the phone number to be dialled), using a different computer would show whether any other problem has arisen with your pc.
If you cannot connect from a different pc it must still be a Biscit problem, so unfortunately you would need to phone them again saying what happened with the guy this morning and how you still cannot connect but have tried a different computer. My suspicion would be that either you are not using the correct phone number (sorry to mention it) or the person you spoke to made changes to your account but somehow didn't make the change permanent so it needs doing again, properly. I can only add that when someone phoned me back she seemed quite helpful; did something (I think just reinstate the password); and then phoned me back on my mobile so she could check my landline connection to the net was working.
Not very helpful for you I know, but I can't think of anything else. Sorry.

I'm Back On!!!
Just had a call from Chip Slog (eldest son) to say that he's got home from school and tried it and it worked.
Thanks for your replies.
As I've said before, I don't think I've ever been so annoyed by a service that costs so little!
I've just had another call to say that since phoning me, Chip can't reconnect. Looks like I'm not out of the woods just yet.0 -
Sounds like things are happening.
If you can't log into that members panel, i would have thought it sounded like authentication issues at their end.Capt_Slog wrote:As I've said before, I don't think I've ever been so annoyed by a service that costs so little!0 -

They're probably keeping me out of that bit so that I can't cancel before I've recaptured the joy of dialup at 30kps. :rotfl:0 -

Ditto! I re-sent the email to accounts@biscit.net. Hopefully that will get some sort of response!
Also, my speedmail email address is no longer working. Every email sent to that address bounces. I'm happy about this as I didn't want a speedmail address in the first place.0 -
I still have not managed to cancel my dial up access with Biscit, I've had £4.99 debited from my account today even though I spoke to someone lastweek who said the accounts team would call me back.
The customer service number 0870 383 0030 says hold or press 0 to leave a message, yet if you continue to hold it often cuts you off after a couple of minutes.
I had to leave a message as it got 5pm (30 mins of trying to get through) and I was told there was nobody to take my call, so I'll wait and see.
Vote with your feet.I want to take on capitalism, but cant get the day off work....0
