I want to say straight away that i have cancelled my contract by post, but i have yet to receive confirmation of that.
The email address associated with my account is checked on a regular basis.
It receives email from
sales@v21.co.uk and marketing@v21.co.uk
but nothing of any use regarding info on the changes underway, or preferably confirmation of my cancellation !!
All they really need to do is send a quick note to the account email addy.Dear Mr Paininthe@ss, Thank you for your custom. Your account has now been cancelled, no further payments will be taken. Have a nice day! Kind Regards, the accounts team.
HOW HARD IS THAT ???
This is starting to look like it's more difficult than AOL to leave!
I now feel extremely uncomfortable with this ISP and just want out ASAP, to run screaming like the wind without looking back once !!
For people who are staying, they still really have no clarification on leaving charges.
Looks like Caretaker http://www.thecaretakers.net/biscit.html
has received some good news.
Well Done, Good Luck to him!
It still cost him £30, but that's better than the £105 he was originally quoted, i suppose.
So, if you are on ADSL and thinking of staying, it might be a good idea to ask a question concering leaving charges, and ask for a guarantee, not like some of the wooliness we have seen of late,

Any info or conclusions yet, please ?0 -
Have gotten one of our Fast4 speedmail email accounts to work at long last.
They seem to have changed all the email passwords into lowercase so where my sisters password was previously BISCUIT it is now biscuit
The Username needs to changed to the full email address username@speed-mail.co.uk whereas before just the username on its own could be used.
The outgoing SMTP address has changed to out.biscuit.net
Incoming POP setting is still mail.speed-mail.co.uk
Unfortunately Biscuit appear to have Cancelled our other three email accounts with Speedmail - can't at at them at all in uppercase or lowercase letters in the Password field. (Two were set up as additional email addresses, and the other one was a primary email address for an account which I downgraded about 18 months ago from a unlimited £6.99 dial-up access to a free PAYG emergency dial-up account which we have never actually used for connecting to the internet - just for email).
I assume this means each Fast4 customer is only allowed one Speedmail email account under the new Biscuit system (paying customers only it looks like since my sister is on the £5 unlimited dial-up connection - she doesn't use it very often). Her secondary email address no longer appears to exist. I can't test her internet connection settings as the Members Area has disappeared.0 -

To use the POP address, presumably you have to be logged on to the biscit servers, and I can't log on. I am using an 0845 number so I am limited to the webmail and none of my combination of username/password upper/lower case works with that.0 -
dial up user.
Can someone translate this into English?
We have found that in most instances users with dial up connections, who are connecting to 0808 dialup service. When calling in, when the dialup connection is recreated within Windows XP, the user is able to connect to the service.

Went to BISCIT HQ (stated as 9 HALE LANE MILL HILL LONDON NW7 3NU) on 24/10 to confront CEO H Paterson. Found a grubby looking estate agents called COMFORT HOMES where ONE aged Indian lady was chasin smoking and juggling two anitquated phones; ONE DESK NO OTHER STAFF! There was a tiny placue on the wall behind her statign BISCIT!

Perhaps if you ask the nice Indian lady at the above address she could help? She probably wrote it! :rotfl:I'm NOT political so DON'T correct me!0 -
What a godawful mess they appear to be making of email!!
There is a lot to be said for using email accounts that have no association with your ISP
Use free ones such as Yahoo, or even better, Gmail
Better still register your own domain for a couple of pounds and you can then use the email addresses associated with that domain and keep them when you move to the next ISP
Anyway, present email problems seem to be a mixture of mangling passwords during the changeover, read what they said below about using qazwsx as a password
and status problems if this is to be believed
http://portal.v21.co.uk//index.asp?exec=alive&htype=2eMail
@speed-mail.co.uk domains
If you ar having issues connecting to your speed-mail.co.uk email account, please try using the password qazwsx
Webmail access for this mail domain may be accessed at http://webmail.speed-mail.co.uk
Access for incoming and outgoing mails is still done using the following:
Incoming Mail (POP): mail.speed-mail.co.uk
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.v21.co.uk or out.biscit.net0 -
Biscuit did state that some passwords were considered so unsecure that they got rid of them altogether and have replaced them with a default password "qazwsx".
They definitely seem to have killed my sister's additional email address she had. Her primary email address (the one she selected when she first signed up with Fast4 is still accessible through the webmail as long as the password is all in lowercase).0
