Hi All
Well another day at work for me today. So not much old style here (I get a free lunch at work and OH will go to the pub). At least it gives me time to plan.
I have really found all the menu planning tips on here great – it is something I have never done before. My sister laughed her head off last time she was up (she lives in the land of ready meals), on seeing our menu plan on the wall.
Anyway this weekend will be busy my brother in law is coming to cook the Xmas cake. This project will take most of the weekend. The cake however will be great, but I have never known anyone take so long to make a cake.
I am of the throw it all in approach to cooking, and he is very precise. However my toddler wants to help.
Researcher - have you tried Ebay for curtains - I am new to it, and only ended up playing £5 inc postage for DD’s curtains. – makes me mad when I think about how much I would have paid before
Hugs to all

Talk Talk were on Watchdog last week for this exact problem, except they said they were going to get it sorted.........obviously not yet then.0 -
hi
I hear all this stuff about talk talk - and I'm not disputing that some people are having difficulties with them.
But I am on talk talk as I type. They connected before the date they said and I have had no problems with service.
One girl at work didn't get the internet connection she expected - but I had a look for her and found that when she placed her order she had only requested the phone line - the company's not psychic.
I really hope you get sorted out soon.
(Just wanted to say talk talk aren't all bad and sometimes it's the customers who are at fault - though not in your case (I hope this sounds ok - it's hard to get things across in text only. Hi everyone!
Hugs to those that need them.
It's been a rather difficult week this week because OH's mum had a stroke. She's ok but the time has now come to make some very difficult decisions regarding care etc etc. He and his siblings are looking into various options and then will take it from there.
The above news has rather stood in the way of much OS the last couple of days but I did bake some buns to relieve the stress a bit. Perhaps not everyone's way of dealing with bad news but hey ho at least it was productive!!
OS today has been a white wash which hopefully OH may have hung out and I've stripped the beds and changed the towels. The weekly shop awaits me upon my return. Am planning to have a crack at the Alsation onion tart from the paupers cook book. Have been frantically copying out recipes before I have to return it to the library next week!!
Am at the planning stages for a hideous Halloween tea for the small person at half term using recipes gleaned from here. Will also make a hot firey soup and the Waitrose corn bread recipe for the adults. Managed to pick up a really tasteless plastic skull goblet for the small person from wilko for £1.49 which he will love. Will try and get him a witches hat from Tesco tonight as he's outgrown his other one. My mum is making him a wizards cloak which he doesn't know about so he'll be absolutely thrilled!!
See you all next week- have a great OS weekend

Hello All
Had a meeting with the BIG boss man today. Think I'm safe, as he was praising me and called me vital.
Going out tonight but have a lunch appointment tomorrow so can't get too hung over!
Feel quite droopy today despite having lots of sleep last night
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
having a cuppa tea, i needed a break!
the great kitchen clean is going well. As i said in another thread, i'm falling in love with stardrops - my cooker has *never* looked so good - in fact, the glass lid hasn't been this clean since we got it!
so far i've: cleaned the gas ring bits and the metal bars from the top and the oven / cleaned the top of the stove, inside the oven (yeuch) / wiped down all the tiles / pulled everything on the top and cleaned underneath those / wiped down the cupboard fronts.
only thing left to do in there is to pull out the oven and clean down the sides (which is about the worst job going)... and clean the fridge, but that will have to wait for another day i think, its taken me 2 hours to get this far.
After that i plan to start mincemeat and bread, then have lunch (tuna mayo on ryvita and a 'nanna) , and then work on making dad's pressie.. once that's done i can tidy up all the sewing stuff and get to work on the rest of the house, which is fairly quick as its not that big (its a one bedroom flat), and cleaning the bathroom. For most of this part tho, at least, i'll have the OH's help.
getting there!!

Hello everyone
I am being a right lazy mare again....didn't go to bed until 5.00 am (reading as usual!) but didn't sleep long so got up and was logged on in here at 6.47 am (time of my last visit). After a couple of hours got the urge to sleep again so hopped back into bed...snoring away having a weird dream which was rudely interrupted by the phone... hopped back into bed and got another couple of hours. Ok, so lots of sleep but I'm annoyed that I've missed so much of a gloriously sunny day grr!!
Kethry - you asked about the soup. I decided to make it in the slow cooker overnight...I can confirm that it is a total and utter hit! I put in loads of garlic like you recommended - I love the stuff anyway - and left it in the slow cooker overnight. Perhaps that was what wakened me at 6.30 am (ish) as the smell was v.v.strong. So I had breakfast...you guessed it...a bowl of soup. LOL!! I must be mad but it was totally gorgeous even at that hour!! Thanks again for the recipe - I do like those chuck together type ones.
Some very sad news from my district. A child was knocked down and killed yesterday - a little nine year old girl, and she was just yards from her own home. Her mother managed to get to the scene of the accident and was with her child in her last moments. How absolutely devestating for her family...how will they ever be able to bear that, it is so awful.
Sorry, but on that sad note I think I'll go and get something done. Bye for now.

Snowwy,
glad it was such a hit!!! I may just experiment to see how much garlic i can get away with in that dish.. LOL.. kill off all the neighbours with the power of my garlic breath!
I'm sorry to hear about that little girl. Terribly sad.. makes you appreciate life as it is... *huggssssss*...
right, thats the kitchen all done - now to do dad's pressie!
