OS daily threads October 2006

Good morning everyone!!

Before the formal start to today's thread, I thought you might like to know that it is a whole entire year since Pink-Winged became Board Guide on Old Style!! Thank you Pink for all the hard work you've put in these past 12 months. I hope you have had lots of fun and satisfaction from Old Style and that we haven't been too hard on you!

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st Oct 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I haven't quite found my way to bed yet, it's about 3.00 in the morning, so guess it was time I was making tracks! I like to read, and often forget the time...tonight I have been reading the Complete Tightwad Gazette. It's a fabulous read! I had intended starting to learnhow to knit - but the library didn't have as much as one single book on the subject! That has to be postponed until next week, so fingers crossed a book on the subject comes in.

Last night I made a Weetabix cake - it's lovely and spicy! Mmmmm....I've tweaked it a little, replacing the milk with black tea, and chucked in some sunflower seeds as well as sultanas. It's very nice!

A few minutes ago about a dozen sirens went up the main road from here. I can't tell the difference between fire, ambulance and police so not sure what variety sirens they were. Judging from the number of sirens though I will be surprised if I don't hear of something pretty major having happening nearby tonight. I hope it just sounds worse than what it really is...

Guess I will toddle off to bed now. Have a fantastic Sunday!

Good morning to everyone. I can't sleep hence why I'm still up at this hour. I'm off to do my weekly shop later today. I'm hoping that it will come under £70 for the week.
My daughter also wants to dress up as Hermione for book day so I'm scratching around for ideas.
I'm also praying for a dry day so my washing which has been on the line since Thursday will finally dry.
Thanks Pink for all your hard work.

Morning Snowyowl, Rachel and all to follow.

    Happy Board Guide Anniversary Pink-Winged.

Woke up just after 3 this morning and was wide awake for about half an hour. My tossing and turning woke up hubby who humoured me with some chat for a bit before rudely falling back asleep. At 5 I just gave up and got up and here I am!

Have more washing to do today and some ironing as well. The bathroom needs a quick clean too.

As it's the 1st of the month I like to do a monthly planner as well. Just really a note of any birthdays/anniversarys I need pressies/cards for, any planned days out/events, things that I know need done, etc.

The rest of the day we shall play it by ear. Sundays are normally pretty lazy in this house as it's the only day that both me and hubby get off together so it's usually nice to not be rushing around doing stuff.

Whatever your plans are have a great day :D

It's raining here, so glad I got some time in the garden, and washing dried yesterday.

Best news is that DH landed at Heathrow about 2 hours ago, so should be here i the next couple of hours. About time, really, I have a looooooooooooooooong list of jobs around the house for him :D
DS is deliverinlg leaflets around the village. The scouts are being paid £100 for this, which will be used for their christmas treat. He bought Roller Coaster Tycoon yesterday with his birthday money, but it keeps crashing our laptop. Anyone have any experience of what it is on my computer that might be causing this? I'll be off to the techie board later.

Snowy, my nana taught me to knit. She always said knitting is "through, round, under, off", and I still say that to myself! That website looks good. What are you making.

Big baking marathon to start soon - muffins, chocolate cake, Mr BE's turkey and sweetcorn pie, and drop scones (for breakfast with the maple syrup we brought back from New England).

Have a great Sunday, Penny. x

    Morning all :hello:

Happy October .... I hope that your first words today were / will be White Rabbits ! :D

Well last day of my holiday today and OH has promised that we can go on a bike ride. He bought me a bike for my birthday in June ( he already had one ) and we haven't been out on them together more than 3 times.

Skystar I'm with you today, the first of the month means planning what I need to do, what I need to buy and what I want to achieve.

WM is on, have a bit of holiday ironing to finish , then just a quick swish and swipe today.
Going to also attempt chutney and a coffee cake later once OH rises.

Have a lovely day one and all

    Morning

My first words today were probably something along the lines of "will you stop fidgeting and go to sleep!!" Yes - DS2 crawled in beside me about 6, but I'd been awake since 5 again.

Still worrying about "business forms" but went to the library yesterday and have some books on what to do, for the simple stuff. I've decided to take professional help for the difficult stuff :)

I got very little OS done yesterday, apart from the mega shop and heating up leftovers for tea. So, I really need to do the washing today and some cleaning. Luckily it looks like it will be a nice day so can hang it out.

Anyway, ((hugs)) all round, congrats to Pink and I'm off for a surf while I drink my tea.
