I don't mean to be smug, but I've had a great day and I thought it would be nice for us to have a thread to list our accomplishments when we've had a good productive day, it doesn't happen too often for me so I thought it would be nice to list it when it does!
I must be honest I am someone who always needs a project on the go , whether it's designing my latest set of tattoos, or learning ot play autoharp or organising my wedding I need stuff to occupy myself, I think it may be a form of ADHD, I need to be busy and I keep moving from one event to another!
My bestest friend is getting married this week and I had a fearful time trying to get something to wear over the dress so this week I tought myself (with some help from my dear pal Mairi!) to use my sewing machine and made a stole it turned out to be a massive task but that's another story, anyway I got that made this week and also made my corsage (costly business, the dress cost me £4.50 in a charity shop, the stole cost £35.00 by the time I'd bought the thread, satin, velvet and braid, but it is enormous, it needed to be to drape properly so it's about 10ft long!)
Anyway back to the point.....................
So today, I slept in, got up around 11.00, popped on here for a while, put the sunday roast in the SC, got dressed and went out brambling with 2 of the girls (DH is such a snob, the fact that I went berry picking horrified him and he thinks I'm a "damnable gypsy" and that people will think we're too poor to buy food in the shops! It makes me furious sometimes how contrary that man can be, he's got some bl**dy queer ideas sometimes!!!)
So we went out picking, were out actively picking for about 2 hours, and we must have got 10/11 1b between us, split 2 ways, I got home with 6.5 lbs of brambles, which are now sat in my freezer till I have enough jars to process them all!
Got home made the mash, made the gravy, sorted the carrots, carved the meat, made yorkies, cleaned the kitchen, asked DH if he wanted to have crumble for pud but he refused ( I think it was purely on principle but that's another issue) had dinner.
Got the sewing machine out and made a shoulder bag out of a pair of jeans, and made a square box coin wallet out of the denim too!
And on top of that I re-threaded an old necklace that an aunt left me when she died, the thread was going on it and it matches my outfit for the wedding next week so I wanted to be sure the string didn't pop in the middle of the dancefloor, so all in all I feel quite pleased with how today has gone.OS in the foraging, re-using, repairing, and slowcooking, it's all good!
I appreciate that it may not seem like too much but I have quite a nice sense of a day not wasted and a good sense of achievement today so I thought it would be nice to put a thread up so others can do the same!
Now I'm going off to bed to pass out, I will see you all tomorrow!xxx0 -
Vicky - The photo's were absolutly gorgeous. I even had tears in my eyes. Could be from having about 4 hrs sleep last night
but I don't think it was. It looked so *british* IYKWIM. Your smiles were so radiant and your love shone through. What a fabulous memory for you both.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2 October 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone!
A very happy birthday to MATH - I picked up your hints, and took a peep at the calendar!
We're planning to pick the rest of the fruit today, and make some pear wine, then freeze a batch of apples to ferment next.Made a turkey and sweetcorn pie yesterday - delicious.VickyA, loved the photos.Shez, the rumour about offers of cake were true! Those techies can't half scoff! Will now have to try and understand what they're saying and see if I can get DS's game to work.Have a great Monday, all!Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

What a fantastic day you had purpleimp! I'm lucky, my OH actively engages in the foraging work with me and is number one taste tester of anything we make as a result! We just think of nature as being one huge garden
We also had a very productive day. Rosehips and elderberries washed and popped into the freezer for processing next weekend. Pumpkin soup made (for lunch) with extra portions into the freezer as well.
Dinner was HM pasta (OH makes this) and bolognese sauce (I make this) - with an extra portion for OH's lunch today.
Inroads were made into the ironing
Pumpkin seeds were dried and then roasted with oil, butter, curry powder and sea salt in the oven.
We then managed some relaxation time and watched a DVD.Enjoying an MSE OS life0
