Hi everyone
It has been a lovely sunny day here even though it rained quite a lot during the night. I have just about got a load of washing to do now...but sod's law it'll be miserable tomorrow lol.
My day has centred around getting new eyewear. I had my eye test this morning, and have decided to go back to contact lenses, and have also treated myself to two new pairs of glasses. It's about time really - I had to throw a pair away about two months ago as they were literally falling to bits while the other pair were about four years old!
I had a lovely big bowl of soup for lunch...dinner is going to be the rest of it with a couple of new potatoes and some kidney beans chucked in. I completely forgot to get anything out of the freezer last night. I've been collecting (for want of a better word) reduced price fish and now have enough to make a big pie. I'll do that tomorrow, and make taplady's Cranberry Cinnamon Muffins, the recipe for which she sent to me by PM. Thank you Taplady. Tonight I think I'll make Kethry's Ministrone Soup....it sounds really tasty.
Oh dear AussieLass, sounds like you are having a relapse. You poor thing - you thought were getting better yesterday so this must be very annoying. I hope DGS doesn't catch it.
EssexGirl...I haven't been on a horse for a few years now...but believe me rising trot is fantastic for firm thighs and a pert bottom! You're going to be Ms Old Style Rear of the Year 2006/7... Once you've had a couple of lessons the pain will stop, and you won't be walking like John Wayne any more :rotfl:
As it's still sunny out there I think I will surprise the car and give it a wash. It has only seen rainwater these past couple of months...poor thing. I might even drag the vacuum cleaner out and do the inside as well.
Have a lovely evening all.

Badgergal wrote:Already had the DW on and it is just waiting to be unloaded. Been to Tooting today to get some cheap bits (8 pomegranates for a pound, excellent, who says London is expensive!)
I used to live in Tooting! It was great for market shopping (and yummy curries). I now live in Bethnal Green (aslo good for market shopping and curries!)

been shopping today... and picked up some real bargains!
got a couple of baskets for making gift packs for £1 from the charity shop and a couple small bottles of sanctuary lotion and 2 face packs for £2. Also got 2 mugs from the Victorian kitchen in a traditional design with the word CHOCOLATE on for £3, and best of all, a big bottle of stardrops for £0.79! (they also have starclen, and starpine and another one... starsomethingelse).
grocery shopping came in way under budget, and still managed to save some for christmas, so i'm really pleased with myself now.:T :money:
Gonna do toad in the hole for dinner tonight with new potatoes and broccoli (before you yell, *sausages?! on the GI diet?*, Snowwy: i'm cheating, but they are low fat sausages and i'm only gonna have one or two and LOTS of veg.)
oh and while i think about it - Snowwy, if you like garlic, put lots in the soup. I chucked in 5 cloves the other night, and bacon bits (Aldi's own, the lean stuff, 2 small packets for 99p, i only used 1 packet) and it was even better than the first lot i did. Also put in tinned sweetcorn which was lovely. Good luck with it - let me know how you get on!
right.. am off to do toad in the hole..

Evening all,

Definately NOT an OS day for me! To begin with we had a power cut for 18 hours - starting at around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. Spent a sleepless night worrying about the computer, house alarm etc in case the power came back on). Luckily I have been running down the freezer so there wasn't much left in it. What was left had gone rather 'soft' so it's sitting in a bin bag for the dustbin men tomorrow. Had to chuck some stuff from the fridge as well so had to buy some more milk to last us until Saturday when I shall be doing the main week's shopping. I shall be cleaning the freezer tomorrow and then will have to restock it  - this time ( for the first time ever) I'm going to make notes in my Pukka Pad book of what is actually in there)
It was a beautifull sunny day here so I did loads of washing - then the clothes prop broke  so had to get another one.
Had a delivery of a new storage system for my collection of (rapidly breeding) CDs. Spent ages sorting them out and putting them in the new unit - really struggling not to sit back and play all the ones I'd forgotten about! Decided to list a few on Amazon but they are so old (like me) that they are no longer available.
A few glasses of wine later (and far too long spent re-setting all the clocks and times after the power cut) I'm fit for nothing!!!0 -
Well felt rubbish all day after drinking nearly a bottle of that cheap aldi wine, last night. Still feel stressed re house move, hate not knowing what is going to happen and being out of control!
Supper is in the oven pork chops tonight with gravy and veggies.
Bug hugglies everyone.
Cant believe how warm it is still!
Hope I sleep tonight as lots of work to do tomorrow!
Alexxxxx
Have a good night everyone.Pawpurrs x0 -
Hi All
OMG, I have just had my first taste of mutton. I was going to make shepherds pie, but decided to cook the mince and the potato separately. It was FANTASTIC.
Thank you, I would NEVER have thought opf buying Mutton (and cooking it despite how fatty it seems) if it hadn't been for this board.0 -
I reckon there may have been a gremlin on the server sometime Tuesday night 'cause I was in the middle of reading another thread and that disappeared whilst I was moving from one page to the other!
Anyway... glad it's backand thanks to those who facilitated this...

lotsopeople wrote:Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday, 10th October, 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Wow! 0630 and nobody has started today's thread... or are you all superstitious[btw if there IS another one then apologies... please use that... but I couldn't find it]
"Old Style" for us today is picking up the grandchildren from school for an overnight stay while DS and wife enjoy themselves at a late-night dinner-party! The tomorrow our dear friend is up for a long-weekend from Leicester... more over-eating and full cooked breakfast (brill)
I've been planning for ages to get some serious bread-making done so I think it'll be home-made pizzas and garlic bread for tea! "New"-style use for "old"-style stuff
However, lots to do before then so it's out of bed early0
