Well I typed up a great long message, hit the submit button, lost internet connection!!  Pipex's fault not MSE for a change! Beginning to think nobody loves me. Yesterday's thread gets pulled just after I post, today everything working against me. Still at least Snowy managed to read last night's post before it got vapourised!:D :D

Penny-Pincher!! Nothing new to add, except prayers, hopes and love winging their way to you. Do hope worst-case scenerio doesn't happen. You come and rant to us anytime, you're such a strong person, but even you need to let the steam valve off sometimes!! ((((HUGS)))) to you and your lovely family.

Kyle, hoping your DS is feeling better. You too must be one hell of a strong lady to cope with that sort of episode! I so admire you, it has to be hard staying calm when your wee one suffers so.

PenPen, would endorse what others have said regarding Braun stick. I've got the one with the metal shaft, will go in boiling liquids, tough as old boots, about 7 years old, still going strong. (and no I don't have shares in the company!!:rotfl: )

36_1_39.gifto Shez, it's getting very dark here, are you sending me MORE rain!!

Well now of course, I've spent ages on here so best get off. Must do a bit of shopping this afternoon, well even Sainsbury's is better than tidying up.

Here goes with the submit button, fingers crossed, CMxx

edit to say that took all of 40 seconds to process!! I was sure it was going to vapourise!!!

  • Hello everyone:smiley:

I m writing this before I read what everyone else has written so apologies if I have missed anything.
(((Hugs))) to anyone who needs them.
It is very dark here and there has been torrential rain and a very nasty thunder/lightning storm. We are all tucked up inside at the moment and if it stops rainging we will be headng off to swim.
Have done one washing load - and tumble dry - and BM is on. Think we will have pasta tonight - need to roast some veggies first.
If rain persists then we will be having a crafty afternoon making some cards and homemade wrapping paper (ie kids printing patterns on brown parcel paper).
Have been trying to catch up on the Christmas thread on here to get ideas for Christmas hampers I am planning for my parents and sister's family. I see Martin has now got a separate Christmas section - YAY!!

Hope you all have a good afternoon.

    Hi all :D

Well my week off is going kind of ok. So far I've had the WM on twice (2nd load is waiting for some space where it can be hung up!), the DW on about a million times, scrubbed the bathroom floor (the mat had left dirty marks on it but stardrops shifted them), vinegared the limescale on my loo, cleaned the entire bathroom and most of the kitchen. Also scraped out all the sealant round the kitchen sink and put new stuff down (the old stuff was rank).

My mini bathroom has been turned into a large airing cupboard as I've put my clothes airer in there with the dehumidifier which blows out warm air, am pleased I thought of that!

Was thinking of making veggie sausage casserole tonight but the boyf is s*dding off to watch footie so I'll be eating it on my own!

Off now to unload DW and WM, and should really sort out one of my cupboards today too.

    Good luck to all!
  • :grouphug: to Penny Pincher - get all the 2nd opinions you can and have someone else in with you - if you're in shock you might not get all the facts.

Quick post here - still struggling with this post virally thing and now ds1 seems quite bad - 4 weeks before the 11+   He's off today and I'll see about tomorrow - I think they're all so kn***ered by the preparation for the exam they'll be lucky if they make it that far:mad:

    Hi everyone. :)

It looks as though we had the bad weather before you.....after a night of torrential rain and wind it's lovely and sunny here now.

We had our first frost a couple of nights ago, so I'm off out to gather some rosehips to make more apple and rosehip jelly as the last lot went down so well....apparently they shouldn't be picked until after the first frost.

I can't believe how much being on the Old Style board has changed me....We are now having home made scones, with home made butter and home made jam! These things wouldn't be happening without all the help I've had from the posters on here, so.....Thank you everyone for all your great tips! :A :A :A

Penny Pincher Sorry to hear your bad news....hopefully the consultant was just telling you the worst possible outcome. As others have said, do get a second opinion.

Kyle At least he was at home with you....it must be very frightening for both of you.

Penelope Penguin I had a Braun stick blender and it lasted for sixteen years before finally dying last month. I looked at the cheapies in tesco and asda but they have really small blades. I decided to treat myself to this little beauty. Tesco had it as a reduced to clear so it was £24.99 and worth every penny I think.

Ok, off to make myself presentable to collect DS2 from school.......I hope you all have a good Wednesday.:)

    Hi everyone!

PP - my heart sank when I saw your post. Big massive hugs to you. I'm not one for praying normally but I think in this case I will have a word on your behalf.

I haven't done too much today...in fact sweet nothing is about the height of it. I was up half the night reading - I am my own worst enemy. I've still to call my new employers re the uniform. I'm such a chicken, but gotta get over myself and get on with it, it won't get resolved unless I deal with it.

Shez - the G.I.Diet is good. It encourages you to consume low fat, low sugar, high fibre food while things like crisps, cakes and general stodge get the heave-ho. It is a good, well-balanced approach to eating - so far so good, I have managed to stick to it. Our new friend Kethry has mentioned she has been following it for a while now with great results, so that is very encouraging.

MrsMortenHarkett - congratulations on the imminent arrival of a new member to the family. I got a kitten just over a year ago, and he has been an utter delight every single day. He's a big boy now though. I would advise that you take lots and lots of photos as he'll change v.quickly.

PawPurrs - wish I was there to help you, I love doing those big jigsaw puzzles. Sorry, that's not much use to you....

Joannasmum - it sounds like you might need to take a trip to the doctor if your feeling low persists. Don't be too hard on yourself. That feeling is horrible, I know it well, but it's not forever, it will pass in due course. Actually, do go have a chat with your GP anyway and tell him/her what you told us. I'd also suggest you look at https://www.livinglifetothefull.com. There is a course on there which you may find useful. It takes a bit of effort but you can do a tiny piece at a time. I'm working my way through it slowly but surely and so far it is making sense and being a help. NB It is a useful tool for anyone, no suggestion at all that a person needs to be depressed or upset or anything like that to benefit from it.

Welcome to Westy and welcome back Jo, great to see you again.

Sorry that this post has been simply a chat over the garden fence type post.

    Afternoon all
Only scanned through the thread today.

Big hugs to Penny pincher my prayers are with you.
Just tidying done today, was going to go up the allotment but it's piddling down.
Forgot to bring the buggy inand it's soaked, poor ds will have to put up with it when I pick up dds from playschool and school.
ordered a asvada , kind of a spade, but supposed to be a lot easier to use, so hopefully that wil make my job of clearing the allotment a bit easier.
Sean's funeral is next wednesday, but I wont be able to go as the kids are jst not old enough to be subjected to it, we will say our own little goodbye and plant a tree in his memory.
    Right best be off
    Hugs to all

    hello again!

churchmouse - I know!!! went out lunchtime and it woz chucking it down! came back in! I tried getting on a little while ago and couldnt access internet either - probably busy as its lunchtimes and everyone on - or the thunder showers have tampered with connections!

catznine - sorry to hear yr news. Re Barts: Yes it is fairly easyto drive but depends when you are thinking of going? in the evenings i think you can park on yellow lines after 6.30? I will check with my DH as I cant remember about the parking and get back to you. Obviously it is quick by train, nearest station is St. Pauls.

edit: or as snoozer says Barbican station too! depends which is easier.

It's still dark here, what a grim old day! My car's in being fixed today & I've got to walk to the garage & pick it up later - not that I'd normally complain about a 45 minute walk, but if it's still bouncing down it will be very wet & miserable!

Not much OS going on here today, might get round to stripping the bed & putting the winter duvet on this aft, but the sheets etc will have to go into the TD. Am defosting the mince for tomorrow night's lasagne, as I'm going to make the bolognaise sauce tonight. OH is on a late shift, so it'll be freezer dip for me.

Hugs to ((PP)), make sure they consider all the alternatives. My bro is currently waiting for a second opinion on major foot surgery (basically they'll take his foot off & re-attach "correctly" so he can walk for a few more years) so I know how tough it can be.

Pen-Pen - another vote for the Braun. Mine is at least 8/9 years old & still going strong. The mini chopper attachment gets used almost daily.

BRzl - you mention of Euston has reminded me that I need to book my train ticket for Monday, so thanks :D

Better go, I'm only putting off looking at next year's budgets which have to be in by Monday. I wonder if anyone will notice if I just send in this year's again :rotfl:
