    Hi All,
as usual things often turn out better than you imagine! Visit to MIL (aged 90 and being assessed for various thing including pension credit) was VERY positive, and looks like we've been able to claim about £2500 for her - (cos it's being backdated to January.) The only sad thing was, when looking through her bank books, we saw an unexplained withdrawal of £930 - turns out she'd fallen for the Spanish Lottery Scam  . She thought she'd claim the 'prize' she'd won, and surprise us all with a large sum of money - she wasn't going to keep any for herself. Bless her, she's hidden it from us for nearly a year, and she was really ashamed of herself for falling for it. The really annoying thing is that we'd stopped a couple of strangers from falling foul of this con, (we overheard them discussing it in a café - and we butted in!) - Yet our own family didn't speak to us Grrrrrrr.

I'd hang the b*gg*rs from their kn***ers if I had the chance! (And I really hate violence - but conning old people is the lowest).

Anyhow, all's well now, no-one's in ill health so best to count our blessings.

Noticed that the winter duvet was still waiting to be washed , yep since the early summer, sat in the shed, in a bin liner. So have done so now - better late than never.

Soup for lunch with HM bread.
Toad-in-the-hole for dinner - cooked with lots of onions & mushrooms in the batter too - yum yum.

Sorry if I've gone on - but I needed to share this! Thanks all :T

    Good afternoon all

Just been for a wander round town with a Friend - a few last stocking fillers I needed to finish off and needed something for DH to open for his birthday - he's buying himself a new phone (his old one was given to him 3 years ago - he's never had a new one), it's nice to have a little something to open on the day though. DD's have asked to go and get him something with their own money - bless.

OS wise today, going to stick the BM going in a bit (MR is on offer in tesco at the mo for £35 - they had a SC too for £9.99), sort the washing out and then make a couple of pastryless quiches to finish off the last of my reduced peppers and some ham....will pop some onion, sweetcorn and celery in too with a good pinch of paprika. Going to serve that with HM wedges and the last of the salad (also reduced last week).

I did a beef stew yesterday but when I went on the school run, instead of turning the SC down - I turned it off - I was gone over and hour and a half so it was a bit of a dissaster - we just ate the veg and dumplings and the cats got the chewy beef.

Had some bad news from the CSA yesterday and payments have gone down by over £50 a week, ex has given them false info again - he knows it takes them about 6 months to catch up - by then it all just goes into arrears and he gets to pay a minimum payment -- grrrrrrrr. So what with that and the shortfall in work we're down £300 a month - ouch.... on the plus side DH's wages are just about to go up by £500 a month - in one hand and out the other eh.

    Have a great afternoon all.

We trained our dog with newspaper. We had a large area covered to start with and kept putting him on it when he started going and treated him when he'd finished. A lot of priase when they figure it out for themselves. Then gradually reduce the paper size, and keep taking them outside to do it. Then they learn

pastryless - that different, do you just make the filling then and pop it in the case or do you have to do something else?

    Hi everyone!

QueenieYou're bound to feel carp at first as your body gets over its cravings and then starts to get rid of all the muck in your system. You'll be susceptible to evrything for a while, and your mind will tell you you were healthier when you smoked. Try not to give in - it's worth it in the end.

Inspired by the threads over the last week or so, I've just attempted to make hm yoghurt in a flask. I won't know until 8pm tonight whether its been successful.

My log maker arrived today, so I've spent the last thirty minutes creating logs. I can't believe they are going to last for an hour, but I'll give it a go next time I light the stove (tonight if it's cold enough - too warm at the mo).

OH is making hm buegrs and hm ciabatta for dinner, which we will have with hm ketchup and hm chilli sauce (These were things we did before we learned about OS)

I'm just getting ready to make Mr BE's chocolate and yoghurt cake, using the remainder of the Yog I bought as a starter.

Grated the leftover cheese and froze yesterday. Never occurred to me to do that, used to just chuck it in the bin.

Have a load of mutton (and Pork and Lamb) arriving on Thursday (from the online supplier mentioned on one of the threads), so will try and meal plan for the week.

Have just bought a gallon of White Vinegar, as 1 litre trial bottle now used up.

Finlly have been following flylady.org's recommendations. The whole zone idea is working out really well, and tyhe swish and swipe in the bathroom idea is fab. Whole house looks clean all (well most of) the time, and it's much less effort than before.

So just wanted to say thank you for all the inspiration.
  • Today I cleaned my oven  lol! How do you get it completly clean though?! I used Cif oven cleaner (ok ok, not os :P) cos it doesn't smell!

Decided not to clean the kids rooms as a friend os coming over & they will trash it even more, lol!

I just line a couple of 8" cake tins with greaseproof paper and then add the filling and bake as normal - I suppose it's like a baked omlette or a frittata (if that's what I'm thinking of). Just saves me having to make the pastry - which I don't mind doing if I've got time but this way saves time and calories. Easy to slice for lunchboxes too.

  • Afternoon, all. Sat at w***, but not enough to do, really, so 10mins on here.

We freecycled our vinyl records last night, and can't believe the response! Think some of them are planning to sell, though (they want the whole lot without seeing a full list).

VickyA, well done on not buying what you don't need!

Churchmouse, good to see you.I've been missing you (amongst others!) on the Daily.

PoshPaws, I also try to read to the end of the previous Daily, and would mention what people were up to.

Did Taplady make it out of DS1's room alive? Do we need to send a search party?

Haven't had the heating on here, either. We had a log fire at the weekend. Our dinng room is red and gold, with a huge gilded mirror, so looks lovely in fire and candlelight. Had friends for supper, so couldn't resist, even though we were too hot really! Never mind, all the wood was freely acquired, and the ash goes onto the fruit tree roots.

    MimiF, love the Avatar!

    Shez, who's Jeremy Kyle?

Freya, well done on the allotment! When do you get your chooks? Welcome to henhouse corner!

Welcome SarahMoon, and welcome back JW.
