Hi to everybody - have been trying to post for several days (but not quite getting there...sorry!) but am a little alarmed because I posted on yesterday's thread and it (almost immediately!) suddenly disappeared - I hope it wasn't because of me...I realise that I am not super-OS or a regular poster, but I didn't think I was bad enough to be immediately erased!

Am trying to be OS and post regularly, but I guess I just am not OS enough...! Have washed all bed linen and ironed it (and bought a new iron yesterday because the old one gave up the ghost!). Over the weekend, apart from doing the washing, I managed to do a freezer inventory, and we are now trying to work our way through the freezer (hence, I ate a chicken & veg curry with rice, found in the deepest bowels of the freezer, while Mr P ate sausages with potato waffles and beans for dinner - we are determind to eat through the freezer, and that includes all those "one portion" meals that have been frozen in anticipation!). I am torn between trying to make more freezer meals, using all the ingredients we have in store, and trying to clear out the freezer in advance of defrosting, which we need to do...

Foreverskint - big hugs to your JR pupster - hope your 3 yr old comes to terms with sharing lap-space soon! ;)

Awww poor Bertie...I saw your post about all the doggies in your life...the sad stories about your four german shepherds...

Thanks Snowy... you must have been quick... yesterday's thread had gone not long after I posted it!

I've been lying awake half the night wondering just what happened to it... perhaps it slipped out of my laptop onto the floor? I've looked but can't find it! Then I thought maybe my broadband supplier lost it whilst it was heading back from my laptop to the MSE server... but again, no... I don't think that is what would have happened. A real mystery!

I think I must be a jinx! Not long before that one disappeared I was in the middle of reading a DFW thread and it "disappeared" whilst I was reading it... i.e. I went to get the next page and it wasn't there... and neither was the page I had just read!

I'll have to ask St Anthony if he knows the whereabouts of the missing threads :)
  • ...so if anyone is near the Bury st edmunds area and wants to share some, sing out!!!...

If I'm near Bury st Edmunds I'm going to come and look at your Christmas lights... in early OCTOBER! I couldn't believe it! According to your Mayor they had to go up early because both an electrical compliance company and the local Council had to check them out "for Health and Safety reasons".

What a plonker (oops... apologies... I hope you aren't the mayor of BsE). Funny thing was, her hubby is also a councillor and he was the one who complained. Now that set me thinking... perhaps they conspired to get themselves some publicity! Funny thing is... if what she says is true then why doesn't the same apply to every other town in the UK! Perhaps the electrical specialists in BsE are particularly slow?
And here I am, the proud owner of a Jack Russell pup...

...Maybe I should be certifiable, but I am enjoying the chaos.

Thanks foreverskint... I couldn't remember who had posted about the Jack Russell. It prompted me to a lengthy reply that duly disappeared! As I summarised, if you get one tenth the pleasure from you Jack Russell that we get from ours your life will be richer than you could ever imagine. (Cue anti-dog brigade... oh no... that's the DT thread :)). Ours is the double of Rick Stein's Chalkie... five years old a month ago. Smallest of our four dogs (in fact we have a cat that is bigger) but definite leader of the pack!

Anyway... time to go. Thanks for welcoming me to the OS forum. I have spent quite a long time in the DT forum but it was getting quite "nasty" so I thought I'd come and enjoy these daily chats.

    Good Morning All!!

A big Happy Birthday to my DS1 11 today!!, all the kids got up at 6.30am so they could watch him open his pressies whilst dad was still here.
DH about to go off to work and have a very OS day planned, baking some treats for a birthday tea, just things you can nibble on as quite a few visitors expected tonight.

Need to do a quick tidy up and all 3 off my boys made it into the school footy team this week and have a match after school,(first time a year 4 has made the team so especially proud of ds3!) so will be off to watch that before party tea.

Hope you are all ok and hugs to all who need them for whatever reason.!!

    Have a wonderful day
    Donna xx

  • Morning all! Just had a look, and yesterday's thread is indeed GONE!?!?! What did we say?

I had a question yesterday, but no replies. I bought one of these hand blenders from Mr T for £5.

    http://img.pangora.com/13/img/pan14281en4225025?w=250&h=300&cl=85&dnu=1&f=13px400x400

However, mashing banana was too much for it, and it broke. I'm wanting to invest in another. What do you recommend (I'll happily spend more than £5 if it's more robust). I need to make smooties again!

DH filtered our pear and apple wine yesterday, so the whole house has a lovely fruity, yeasty smell!

Happy Birthday for yesterday Squishy! 13_10_6.gifWent and had a look on the calendar, and you're not there. I'd hate to think we'd missed you!

Hoping to knock off w*** a bit early today, as we're hoping for a decision on a windfarm planning application near us this afternoon. I'd like to go and share in celebrations (we hope) as I missed the last one.

Kiwichick, I see you're around! How did you get on with your road safety piece on the TV?

Have a fab day, all, and hugs to all who are still under the weather.

Hi all, hope you have all had a good day so far and continue to do so!

Today is anti-procrastination on Fly lady (can you tell that it's working!). I have never previously enjoyed cleaning, but I have found that I love it - maybe when I go back to work, I should forget the beauty and become a cleaner!

Just fed my little snedlet and had a cup of tea... come to think of it, can't remember if I finished it (it was while I was feeding DD)! Am going to watch the bbc programme, get dressed. I know flylady says to shoes (omg I'm an addict!) but I can't stand shoes, I like bare feet and I'm getting on fine! And then get on with my day...

Still lots of de-cluttering to do, no clothes washing just a load of DDs clothes to dry. Hoovering, dusting, general tidying, library books to take back (!). I am trying to sort out my recipes - you lot are always giving me to many ideas! so that I have a book of recipes that are tried and tested and enjoyed! Lots more but I can't think!

    Linzi

edit: happy birthday to your Ds, donna - hope he has a lovely day!

God, that was a LOT longer than I intended - and to think, I had the cheek to use the quick reply!

    Morning All,

Nice to see everyone up and about so early! I'm knackered today, had our first meeting last night with a friend and I as co-chair of DD1s school. Went OK, if a bit long as we fumbled our way through everything. I do feel guilty though as I really didnt contribute nearly as much as my friend, she had really worked hard on it. I am going to really make and effort over the next few weeks with the bits I need to do. We've organised all the dates for the next year for all discos, xmas bazars, summer fetes, xmas lunch, mufti days, wrapping days etc etc. Busy days ahead.

Am very excited today................I get my car at 2pm :j :j :j We chose a ford focus as on the "which" and "what car" websites they had really good reviews for being reliable/safe 2nd hand cars. We set a budget for it and am happy to say we've picked one up for £900 less than we thought. Just as well really cause the insurance for me being a new driver with 0 yrs no claims is £789!!!!! Needless to say I am now hunting for evening work at local supermatkets hoping to make up the shortfall in the budget this has created.

DD and DS at school today and I need to get the ironing put away and clean the leather suite. DD has drawn on it with black ink and its cream leather! I got one of the cleaning kits form lakeland a while ago so will try it once the various school runs are done.

Righto, off for coffee, have a fabbo day guys,
    Al.
