susank wrote:Good luck to all the potential non smokers - I did it 2 years past last June and just have to say - you will do it with Patches no bother but you really have to want to do it - I did and managed never to have another cigarette since then and dont want to have one but put the money in a terramundi pot and you cannot get it out. All the best - its worth it especially for the money you save.
I'd like to second this. My BF is celebrating 4 years smoke free today (after smoking for 18 years). He used patches and has not had a cigarette since. He was desperate to give up (he wants to be around for his DD as long as possible, and his lungs hurt all the time), and I am very proud of him.:j
Hugs to those who are feeling poorly and to those who just need a cuddle.

Evening all
Seems like a long day today, managed a lie in until 8.30am but was woken at 5am by the phone beeping as it turned itself on - I'm guessing there was a power cut at some point.
We popped to Dover Castle this morning - DD1 is doing a project about it, we're English Heritage members (thanks Mr T.), but she wasn't in the right frame of mind and didn't make any notes....she's also having a hormonal week and been in a bit of a quandry about her "real dad".....He made a big annoucment a few months ago - basically he couldn't afford the CSA payment (so he says) and asked new hubby to adopt them, then he decided that he still wanted contact with them, then he didn't - then he did - then...no maybe he didn't.....grrrrrrrr. Both DD's have said they don't want to see him again and he's had his little temper tantrum, told me I should force them to see him and has now dissapeared off the face of the earth. DD1 wants to change her surname to match mine and DH's before she goes to 2ndary school, but of course her "real dad" won't let her. I can't force the issue, but it's annoying to watch her get all upset over something that's solveable.
After the castle we went out for lunch - feeling a bit stir crazy at home with the builders in, went to Weatherspoons and had 2 main adult meals witha drink and 2 kids meals with drinks for £18 which we thought was reasonable, more food than we could eat and tasty too.
The rest of the day has been spent doing silly little jobs, taking old clothes to the recycle bins, making up packed lunches for the week, cleaning out the fridge and cupboard and sorting washing....nice to have them all done though.
I'm now off to put DD's to bed, get comfy on the bed with a glass of wine and a film and do some more crochet - amazing how warm it keeps you when you're making a blanket"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a few days now, occasionally posting here & there on MSE but with little time to read the full OS daily thread.
Vicky, stay with it pet, you are definitely not the only teacher to feel this way, its the most bullied profession I know of, but if you're in it as a vocation it will also be as rewarding as you hoped it would be...... just not yet, that's all. As with all victims of bullying, you seem to feel pushed into a corner you can't get out of, well don't you worry, the reality is they're screaming out for teachers all over the country.
Just put your head down against the storm, maybe give yourself an endurance time limit, and go for it. You've got too much invested in it to lose out now.
Phew ! I've broken into a sweat remembering what it was like.
I've been on the pooter for hours now, unwinding after looking after my neice for the weekend so that my sister could get some time off. The twins (aged 4) stayed at Mum's, about 15 miles away, so we met a few times over the weekend, and I made their evening meal on Saturday.
DH is out with the dog on a North Yorks climbing trip, so I've got some time to myself Yippee!!!!
Still, the ironing pile is glowering & towering, but the wash loads are nearly over.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all! hope everyone is well!
Am off to work shortly so will catch upon all the threads later!
Have a good day all!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -

Morning all
It is dark, wet and windy here. It is so miserable and I feel really tired I just want to crawl back to bed. Unfortunately that's not an option.
Just getting ready for another day at work. A shorter week than usual as I have Saturday off. So I finish on Wednesday night until Monday :j
Last night my dad phoned to see if we wanted to go to Blackpool for the weekend so we are off on Friday for two nights :j
I have set myself a mini Christmas challenge in that I hope not to use any actual cash. I have accumulated various vouchers through pigsback, my credit card and going to Morrisons for diesel. I also have Boots points and Nectar points which have built up as well. And I picked up loads of things in the Boots sale earlier in the year (using boots points).
Must go and get work food ready.
Have a great day0 -

Morning everyone
Freyaluck, I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
We had a strange weekend, lots of things building up and going on in my family, dh and I had a good talk this weekend so I am feeling a bit better. I am sure ds has picked up on things as his behaviour has been very erratic and his teacher mentioned the same thing on friday.
I need to pop to the greengrocers for fruit and veg after the school run band then hope to do a bit of cooking today, dd and I might finish off by making cakes. I want to have a nice evening with the children so we might attempt to make homemade pizza's, the last time I made them the dough was very thick and solid so I hope we can get it right this time.
Have a good day.0
