Go to the docs - you sound like you need antibiotics! These sorts of infections can drag on for ages without the proper medicine. Hope you feel better soon. :grouphug:

    morning everyone

It`s that time of the year, kind of in between seasons, neither here nor there but it brings depression and sucks energy. The best way to counter this is to get out in the light. I felt lack lustre yesterday but my dh was keen for us to go on a cycle ride so we packed the bikes in the car and went on a 2 1/2 hour ride on a cycle path near the sea in s wales. I didn`t feel like going but I didn`t let on and I ended up really enjoying the leisurely exercise. Got back and read the sunday papers. Had split pea rissoles, fried apple slices and stir fry veg for tea and watched a bit of tv before sleeping the whole night through. I reckon that without the ride I would have tossed and turned all night as my melatonin balance is skewed because of the dull days

Anyway we are off on a self catering week on saturday so have to get some bits and bobs sorted for that. We`ll be in the depths of the mid wales countryside and plan to take the bikes (folding) and walking boots. I like the rain on my skin when I am properly dressed and in a forest and I think there will be plenty of rain but who cares. Packing will be a doddle as we don`t have to dress up at any time next week

Washing takes 20 hours to dry indoors here at the moment so I`m planning to get all the washing done on tuesday evening. I have this ginormous airer which will take three loads. I`ll iron and put away on thursday and I`ll be doing all 30 degree washes as it is very successful. The cotton sheets will be washed and left to dry on saturday morning and I`ll give the feather matress topper a good shake and make the bed with fresh cotton sheets ready to fall into after our holiday

I tried some decoupage over the weekend. I got a pack of 50 sheets from ideal shopping and each sheet does two pictures. I got the christmas theme and have already made 8 very attractive cards. Very soothing this cutting out. Nice with the radio on and stops me getting the snacking urge

I find I`m more and more going back to my veggie ways of 20 years ago. We have never eaten much red meat but I am re-discovering the joys of beans and have put a whole bag of soaked butter beans into the slow cooker. I`ll then freeze portions ready to use.

I have a butternut squash sitting there so I`ll be turning that into soap with a red pepper. I made acorn squash soup last week, with a bit of curry powder. It was just lovely and you just know that the bright orange colour is good for you

Anyway, I`m wittering and I have to buy a kettle. Have a lovely day and try to get into the `sun`at some stage

    Good Morning All!!

Hugs to Freyaluck and VickyA. Big congratulations to Sarahsaver!!!

    PP wishing you better.

Had a lovely day at Legoland yesterday, Shez and I managed to meet up eventually and it was lovely. DH is sorting the photos for me and will pop them on later. We managed to get DS and DD onto the roller coasters, three in total, DS has gone from being a big cowardy custard to a complete roller coaster junkie!!! We have the funniest photo from the first one, DH can't look at it without crying with laughter, the kids look totally and utterly terrified, will try and scan it in as it's worth seeing.

Didn't want to come in to work today, DH is off this week and just wanted to curl up with him and watch DVD's, still have requested Thurs and Fri off so only a three day week this week.

Nothing much OS this morning, pack lunches made, clothes ironed, WM is on timer so I will hang it out when I get home (if I ask DH to do it he does it terribly and also thinks thats his jobs for the day are done and he doesn't need to do the DW)!

Missed most of Jane Eyre last night thanks to hysterical calls from certain female relatives in my family who had decided to fall out over nothing and call me to tell me all about it.

Need to call mortgage co about changing our mortgage and also call sister who owes me money and isn't being very forthcoming about it, have had to ask her 4 times now and I hate it!!

Dinner tonight is tortellini for the kids and mushroom bake thingy (need to find a recipe I think) with ciabatta and green salad. Our dinner is just crying out for a glass of red with it isn't it? ;)

Went to Lidl's at the weekend as saw they were doing half price veg. Every time I go in there I am disappointed, the veg was far more expensive than Asda's and any other bargains (Chorizo for example) I couldn't find. Did get a lovely bottle of red and some lovely Pfeffernusse though but I'm not going in there for anything else.

God, I sound like a complete misery today!!! I'm not!! Sorry to be grumpy all. Special good morning to Shez and her lovely family.

    Have a lovely day all.

    Hi everyone,

Back from 2 weeks away. Had a brilliant time in N Ireland for the first week, but when we came back found that BIL (who had cancer) had deteriorated very rapidly while we were away. We stayed with SIL and MIL to help look after him and he died on Wednesday morning at home. Luckily he didn't suffer at all but it was a shock to everyone how quickly he went at the end. My DS and DD were devastated as they were very close to their uncle.

I spent the week trying to be practical by cooking and making lots of batch meals to leave so that SIL didn't have to cook when we left but by Friday when we got home I was shattered and have had terrible headaches so I did very few of the things I'd planned to do.

I am determined to go to weightwatchers tonight and try to shift some weight so that I am back in the healthy range - I have an underactive thyroid and although I'm on medication I find it very hard to lose weight and lose motivation because it comes off so slowly - hopefully joining a club wil help.

Had a very busy but lovely day yesterday at Legoland!!! and had our mini-meet with mimif & family! who are lovely (as you will see from the photos eventually when one of us manages to do it!) AND I can vouch that she did indeed taker her HM brownies cos I got one - and yummy they were too!!
much more organised than me - we just bunged the usual sarnies etc in a bag!! DH just loves his soggy cheese n tomato!:rotfl:
How do you manage to remain so slim mimif with all this OS baking!
Glad you got time to go on the rollercoasters. We got on the boats eventually!

So far today ive tidied up, swished bathroom, put wm & dw on, some washing out on line (but not sure if its raining out yet cos im now at work in the CW Tower! will peep out in a min!), made lunch, taken DS to nursery, gone to work! Dinner tonite will be Gammon N Pineapple/egg.

penpen - Im afraid Im a brucie fan (especially as he shares the same birthday as me:D )ahhh- so i cant condone him for being a cringy old man now! bless him!
i admire him cos he does all the things i would love to do, he plays piano and tap dances - I saw him years ago in his own show (on our birthdays!) he was excellent! anyway it was fab watching all those wiggling hips wasnt it!!!!! Ray and Mark!! :D Isnt it funny how popular its become - seeing as come dancing was scrapped - i used to love watching that - especially like those big puffball ballroom skirts bobbing up and down:rotfl:

ooo I feel like going and buying a pair of T-bar silver shoes now!

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Morning everyone (just??)

A bit of a late one from me. snoozer sorry to hear about your BIL. Have a well earned chill out today after trying to be so helpful to your SIL.

I am doing the usual pottering. Load through WM, now on airers. Post and internet banking dealt with. Another box of clutter AKA my school work gone through in the home office. I can actually see it becoming a babies room now. I'm trying to be ruthless and it is partly working, but the trouble is i don't know quite know what i will need when i go back, as the government are changing the curriculum again. So some will inevitably get boxed up, only to get binned when it reappears.

I am still doing some school work this week. The plan is to only do this to wednesday, and then have some me time. ;) Great in theory, but i may have to avoid MSE in the mean time.

i am going to try and make some veggie mash later. DH will probably complain, but it is a good way of getting extra nutrients in and less washing up as the potatoes and veggies can all cook in the same pan.

Also, I'm going to get on with the cross-stitch again tonight. 2 and a half hours yesterday was significant progress, but there is still a lot to do, and if i want it on babies wall, i will have to get a wriggle on. Best get on anyway.

    Hugs to everyone,
    Michelle, xx
