Well hello all, you may all be seeing a little more of me this week. Normally I work full time but I have a new job starting next week and as they couldn't fit in me starting this week and my old job finished on friday, I have a week off, woo hoo! It's the first time I've had such a long time off for over a year!

This week off will be used to thoroughly overhaul my flat in an OS way...lots of decluttering and cleaning etc, sorting out cupboards...so if you see me on here too much, give me a kick up the bottom will you (as I'm no domestic goddess).

I had a bad flood in August and the atmosphere still feels damp if you know what I mean, so the dehumidifier which I had to invest in is chugging away...dampness also makes getting washing dry difficult and I have no washing line...maybe a job for the boyf one day, though garden is so small I wonder if it is worth it. I am a bit glum cos it feels like the damp will never go away, and there was certainly no problem before the flood :(

My boyf also moved in recently so the place is even more of a mess than usual aargh - his stuff is everywhere. He is one of those that his mum used to do everything for him so things are going to change!

    Targets for today:

Glue down new skirting boards (they couldn't be stuck down when the bloke came to redo them a month ago as it was too damp, but am hoping it is better now - he left me some heavy duty glue!)

Put on DW (managed to stick to OS meals all weekend which is no mean feat with boyf demanding takeaway pizza, but I have managed to mess up the kitchen!!)
Put on WM (this will involve clearing a space for the clothes airer - this is a studio flat!)
Decide what is for dinner! (I could do the storecupboard thing if it was just me, but boyf is apt to moan) Thinking of a veggie sausage casserole but will need to get some potatoes for mash....hmmm

I do enjoy reading all your posts but will have to refrain from thanking each and every one for now as on dial up it seems to take ages for the page to sort itself out!

    Bye for now!

twink - tesco have a policy that they will refund the money AND let you keep the fish fingers if they have charged you the wrong price - go to customer service and complain (just check out the tesco thread on the grabbit board to see what I mean!)

Quick daily thread question if you don't mind?

My post has been thanks by 7 people, despite my not referring to any of them in the post? It was hardly a life changing post or anything, jutt normal OS chit-chat? Is this now new protocol on the daily thread? Have I missed something?

Hi, Lillibet! We've been asked to desist from naming people individually in our posts. Therefore I'm not alone in substituting the thanks button for this.

I do hope that this isn't going to become contentious. This talk about protocol and doing the right thing scares me. We've frightened away enough people already.

As my dad used to say, thank-you costs nothing.

I'll get my microfibre cloth and stardrops before I leave.............

Edit, have you noticed how thanking rates have gone through the roof today??

    Morning folks!!

(yes i know its 1pm.. i've not had breakfast: ergo, its morning. LOL.)

didn't get much done yesterday, had a go at the quilt i've been making, got it to the stage now where the front, wadding and back are together, i've just got to start tacking it together so it stays put while i do the quilting. Didn't get much else done either, wasn't really feeling too great (touch of the sniffles) and ended up going to bed early around midnight, tossed and turned for ages before i finally drifted off to sleep around 2am i think. Woke up at 11am.

Got some great news last night though: seems my mom dad and gran are all coming here one day over christmas, possibly christmas day, when i'll be doing the full works - turkey n all - which is fantastic, and i'm really looking forward to doing it - and it'll be as OS as possible!!

today i feel a little better - got on the scales (monday is my weigh day) and i've lost another 3 or so pounds last week, taking me down to 16 stone 3 pounds (i started at almost 18 so i'm pleased with this progress). I've just done my daily yoga and meditation routine so that helped quite a lot, the fact that the sun is shining is always a plus.

Gonna work on that quilt, try to get it finished today, as this is my "learning" quilt - i've never made one before - and then i can work on the better version, my gran's christmas present (making a lap rug type quilt). Dinner will be chicken stew with dried pulses, and OH played his favorite game last night: "finding leftovers in the bowels of the freezer". (I have a huge upright freezer that is as large as many fridge freezers combined, and it gets used as a dumping ground a bit.) he pulled out some forgotten lamb chops so he left those overnight and i think he's planning on them for breakfast, with home made bread. Should make a happy guy!

only other news is that the wilkinson quattro razor and some original source shampoo plopped through my letter box this morning - they joined the (growing) pile of other freebie samples which are going either into a HM cracker (when i get round to making them) or a HM stocking, which i'll be making for the family on the day when Mom/Dad/Gran show up. my aim is to make the stockings/crackers cost as little as possible - so i'm raiding any freebies that i can!!! oh and joined the pigsback site last night.. hopefully i can get some stuff from that before christmas!!!

have a good day, everyone, and hope those that are feeling poorly feel better soon...

I was wondering about this too, I only said I was going to Tesco and having sausages for tea :rotfl: It's very sweet of people, but surely 'Hello everyone' is a good way of acknowledging everyone  .......no-one's going to thank me now are they :rotfl: :D

hmmm. ok i'm really not picking a fight or anything here, i promise :D just wondering why we've been asked to desist from naming people individually?

and yup i wondered about this too, Lillibet, then i figured it was something like protocol, like a hello button, and decided it was a nice thing to do (and i'm nice) so i joined in.

    snoozer

I have an underactive thyroid as well and am struggling to shift the weight.

Made baked beans on toast for us all and may make sweet potato cakes for tea with salad or wedges.
Washing is on the line and will need to go out to post letters later.

Enjoying the chance to potter about on here in peace and quiet.

    Hugs to all.
