Evening all!just scanned through the threads, have had a long tiring day - up since 5.30 and only just about to relax!
Re the thankyou thread - I use it to say Hi and to acknowledge that I've read and appreciated it! didn't realise we weren't supposed to mention people individually any more - must have missed that somewhere:o
About to go and scrub DH's back in the bath so do excuse me!:oDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Just to update from yesterday.
Interview went really well, prospective employers seemed really nice.
Fingers crossed.
Bit odd attending an interview with a bad cold. I did apologise though, figured it was better than not turning up at all.
Cya later - have thanked most of you as I see it as a hello, good evening etc.All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -
Fingers X'd for you JJL - and yes, I agree with you, it does feel sort of right to attend even with a cold, rather than not turn up at all - shows a level of commitment and responsibility
Hope you get it!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Snowy Owl,
i've only made it the once (I'm a throw in certain foods and stir kinda cook lol) so i'll see if i can remember:
2 onions, chopped / 1 leek, chopped and rinsed / tin cannelloni beans / tin chopped tomatoes / handful of spaghetti pasta, broken into inch long lengths / double handful of various veg, chopped (like green beans, peas, carrots, peppers, whateveryoufancy really) / garlic / mixed herbs / mushrooms / Olive oil / rind of parmesan* / couple pints stock (marigold's boullion would do) / tomato puree / worcestershire sauce
1. put olive oil in the bottom of a big pan - pressure cooker pan will do fine - but be sparing with it, just enough to cover the bottom. heat it through.
2. chuck in the garlic and onions, saute five minutes till translucent.
3. then, slowly, add the other vegetables, stirring each time, letting them heat through between each dumping in of veg. once the final veg is in add the beans, stir well and put the lid on, leave for a few minutes while you make up the stock.
4. make up the stock according to the packet on the back, pour into the pan and stir well. (if you're using parmesan, chuck that in now.)
5. simmer for 20 minutes, then add the can of tomatoes, tomato puree, mixed herbs, pasta and a couple shakes worcestershire sauce. simmer for a further 20 minutes.
6. you may need to thicken this with some cornflour - put a couple teaspoons of cornflour into a mug, half fill with cold water (must be cold, NOT hot) and stir well. dump in the soup, stir till it thickens. if it doesnt thicken enough for your liking, add more, but give it a chance to thicken up first.
7. ladle into bowls and serve - preferably with crusty bread!
you can add bacon bits to tis if you want. bacon is a medium i think on the GI diet, you can get lean bacon bits from aldi - if you want to do this, then do so between the onions and the other veg.
* yup i know cheeses like that aren't allowed on the GI diet, hence why i say the rind, if you have one lying around, chuck it in, gives the soup flavour, remove before serving tho!
enjoy - if it doesn't make sense to anyone, yell.

Hi Everyone, good to "see" you on here tonight VickyA, hope things pick up a bit now, especially after your session with the head.
cha97M our staff meeting tonight was about the changes, none of us know enough about them, it turns out that they've been rushed out (big surprise there then) and our LEA haven't worked them out yet. Not in place 'til Sept '07 an only a few changes, which I've no intention of trwling through the document to find. When someone highlights them, I'll teach 'em.
Well its bedtime now so I'll wish 'ee all well. Goodnight, (waves microfibre cloth and disappears in a whiff of stardrops) *******

MSE_Andrea wrote:Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday, 10th October, 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Bit cheeky (I know!:o) but following on from kethry's example the other day, I'm starting the thread now because I may not be up in time to start it tomorrow:rotfl:
:hello: Gooooooooooood Morning fellow OS'ers!!
Was hoping for an early night tonight (feeling much below par) but, seems that is eluding me.
I had the delight of sampling d11yo's cookery endeavours this evening, namely Bolinho de chuva - basically, Brazilian doughnuts w/out yeastIf you didn't try them the first time I linked to them, please do!! Cheap, speedy and a tasty yeast free alternative to our own doughnuts
Rather proud of myself that I've endured my 1st smoke free day ( :T ) but, sod's law dictates that I'm coming down with something; most unlike me! I may be taking a day or two off the forums to recouperate.
Not wishing to offend anyone, but I think I've sussed out the reason why some posters felt a need to post earlier in the night, which in turn, caused some controversy in the Daily Thread ... I've noticed that those posters who post in the evening on the daily thread, receive no where near the same "acknowledgement" as those who post earlier in the day. I do know I am guilty of not always acknowledging posts after my daily MSE time has expired, but it has made me realised how wide the gulf between the starter thread attracting 15+ comments/thanks and the latter posts only attracting perhaps 5 comments/thanks and then the feelings resulting in not feeling welcome/in the "clique". Understandable really. I know that the majority of posters may not even be aware that it happens but it might be something to take on board (or not, depending on your own motivations).
If I continue to feel as carp as I do now, I will merely be doing the bare minimum to get by tomorrow (Tuesday) and oh how grateful am I that Spanish is having a night off!!! Well, if you have to feel under par, best it happens in a week where others have altered their plan so that I don't end up feeling I'm letting the side downRather relieved I have some "ready meals" in the freezer (hm) so if push comes to shove, a quickie micro defrost then reheat will make all the difference t'wix convenience and splurging!
2nd positive of feeling unwell = won't notice if I'm w/out nicotine:j :j
Wishing all only good things but most especially a thrifty Tuesday

Would moggins, tootles and kazonline please, please, PLEASE come home!!!??? It's not the same without you
(no offence to anyone I haven't mentioned by name, but those particular ladies do stand out in my heart).
If you read Andrea's "sticky", you will notice that not much has fundamentally altered, if anything (!), from recent discussions; and I, personally, miss you~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

okay since its after midnight.. heheh..
knackered my back this afternoon tacking together that quilt, but it looks great now - all set up to quilt properly tomorrow on the sewing machine (which is going to be fun - quilting on a tiny machine.. NOT). Did chicken stew with soup/broth dried pulse mix and haricot beans in. Was so thick we were spooning it into the french bread i got to go with it! (yes i know not GI but the wholemeal bread I was *supposed* to have with it .. well.. it was demanding voting rights and threatening to kick up a real stink if it didn't get let out of the cupboard. (stink. geddit? yes, you have permission to groan) so i let it out and confined it to the bin.)
tomorrow: minestrone soup - with the bacon bits, HM Bread, just informed the OH and he threw his arms around me and told me he loves me (i still think its only cos of my cooking!). that, the quilt, a letter to my great aunt, popping out to Aldi for a tin of chopped tomatoes and an email to mom (the CD player she bought me less than a year ago has busted and i wanna see if she's got the reciept so i can get it replaced) will see me done and dusted, i think.
what about everyone else, what're your plans? look forward to reading them in the morning when i get up!

Hi Queenie and all those that follow!
My apologies for not being around for quite a while, ive been very busy (falling off the o/s wagon) with work - I requested a reduction in contracted hours over three months ago and they have only just kicked in so hopefully ill have more time (to get back on the o.s wagon
) to post and do the stuff ive been meaning to do for months!!
Anyway, im looking for a new job as the existing one ive been in for over a year has become exceptionally stressful (to the point of not being able to do it properly, not sleeping the night before work etc etc) and dull, and im sure there must be some position somewhere that will suit my skills and not make me feel like im losing my mind - fortunately reduced hours is allowing me to look!
After moving in to the flat just over a year ago, I can now say its complete - i made my final 'large' house purchases today (posh dining table and posh cream leather chairs - woohoo! how long have i wanted them!!) and now only have to get a few little items, and do a few crafty things to finish the place off to what I feel will be perfection (my sofa has red removeable covers - ive bought some new fabric (ebay bargain) and am going to have a bash at making a new set, and have a few blank canvases and materials to make some final bits of artwork and rewax a few bits of furniture) - just in time for this christmas. :xmastree: Im very excited about xmas actually!
Debt wise, it hasnt escalated, but it hasnt shrunk either, and im going to start debt busting in January properly with a plan and everything. Im amazed that I managed to buy everything I really wanted for the flat in cash over the last year, and a few extra things for my hobbies, all on a meagre salary and no increase in debts. (I do appreciate however that I probably should have cleared the debts instead first, but tbh - ive hated my job so much i dont think i could have stuck it so long without spending half my wages on the house every month!). I think that knowing the house is done and that my hours have finally reduced is what has prompted the decision to change jobs - I know I can survive on a lot less now and therefore the need to be consistently earning the same regular wage is now less a pressing need (if you know what i mean!!)
Personal life wise, nothing has changed - i hear lots of people are pregnant/getting married etc so congratulations to all of you :T (see - I have read the daily thread once or twice recently!!), I wish i had something so exciting to report but unfortunately not! We are considering having another kitten though, but that wont be for a while.
The other half is back on the scene - Some of you might remember we broke up a while ago, and it really did the trick, he helps out when I tell him what I want doing and when, he does as much as he can with driving me to work etc, and has finally got a bloody job! He isnt enthralled by the whole 9-5 thing (heh - who is??!!) but he realised the error of his ways and sorted it out. In return, I got his bank to give him back around a £1000 in charges and he thinks im a genious and realises that im the boss, and if I tell him to do something then do it as it is in his best interests.I finally broke that puppy in!
Aside from that, not much else of interest has happened, I hope everyone is well (Although Queenie's message has concerned me - have you lot been fighting while i was gone????!!!) and that all the usual suspects are still here, im looking forward to getting back into the swing of things on the daily thread and meeting the people on here I havent met yet!!
Right - I'm off to bed now!
