Hiya everyone
Sorry, I've not been posting much lately but I do generally manage to read at least something on here every day! Today I've been having an ongoing [STRIKE]arguement[/STRIKE] discussion about Christmas presents for his family and I've now come up here to keep oyt of the way for a bit!
Queenie - I am soooo surprised to learn that you are a smoker (sorry, now an ex smoker!) . Don't know why, really. I suppose I do tend to build up images of peeps on here from what they post etc. Surely it isn'y only me, is it?!
Anyway, lunch is out of the way - we had a pork loin with mushrooms and flagelot beans. The recipe came out of the Sainsbury's magazine a few months ago. I enjoyed it (easy to do!) but the Grumpy One didn't like ot. Why is it that we have such different tastes?
Just remembered - I've got to go and put the bread maker on!0 -
Had a lazy morning and have just made a huge lasagne and a plum pie to follow.
Need to iron school uniform later and get stuff ready for tomorrow.
Went to Dad's yesterday to give away his automatic bed but the person did not turn up!! May just contact district nurses tomorrow instead.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon everyone :hello:
We've had a lovely weekend with our friends. It was their village's "Sheep Fair" yesterday and today, so we've been able to have a lovely wander around seeing all sorts of different things. Craft stalls galore too!
We're now back home, having eaten far too much, and I'm dreading work tomorrow. I know it can be better than this, but I have so little self-confidence at the moment that I don't know who else would employ me! Everytime one of the friends mentioned work, I started to get all tearful. I know it's not good for me feeling like this, but we need the income. We also need my job (as I'm on a permanent contract) to help get a mortgage. We should have been half way to moving into our house if the silly woman hadn't pulled out.
When we got back in, we could hear the most almighty noise coming from the hedge in front of our house. It was a cat that has evidently been runoverThere's no collar for identification on it, so we've had to ring the RSPCA and they're on their way over. I love cats and being tearful anyway isn't helping me!!!
Anyway, I'd better go and get on with more preparation for school.

Good afternoon everyone,
Just had a lovely day with ronankfan and her family here. Had a lovely roast chicken for lunch (pictures on the sunday roast cook - off thread!!!) and they brought the desert - chocolate pud!!! YUMMY!!!!
She also brought their new puppy, who is so tiny, and absolutly adorable - wouldve been happy for her to leave her here!!!!!
Anyway, they have gone now, so will be getting my 2 in the bath soon, for a hair wash and hopefully an early night for us all.
Hope everyone has a good evening (and good luck to those giving up smoking this week (and well done to those who already have!!!))

I simply do not believe what has just happened, there was a knock on the door and our friend from across the road was there holding a bag in her hand.......... she had been out last night and just got back, the bag was thrown over the fence into her back garden, she recognised the jacket as it has OH's initials and a club crest on it, AND THE PHONE WAS IN THE POCKET!!!!!!! locked, but there, can only suppose that who ever snatched it looked inside, saw the milk etc which was not there and slung the coat becuase it was quite distinctive, but did not bother to look in the pocket..... or it was someone who lives up the close who whipped it and when they realised the phone was no good took the milk, tea and coffee and slung the bag.
Now have to ring the phone people to unlock it and the police to tell them we have it back........ good job I had not gone out this afternoon and bought another phone, had decided to wait until we went shopping on Tuesday.:T :TWas 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
afternoon everyone.
A boring day of housework for me. DH washed both cars, I tackled the ironing for about an hour and a half.
DH is currently at work for a bit, although should be home in about an hour, and i'm just waiting for a cake to finish in the breadmaker.
I've been trying to plan out my week to get me a bit more organised. This past week has flown by, and i can't really think what i achieved, and i don't want all of my maternity leave to be like that. I guess its this first bit that is like that, and then i'll be so busy i won't have time to worry.
just wanted to say a few things to people.
sarahsaver - congrats on the wedding. Glad you had a nice time on honeymoon.
queenie and somo1 good luck with giving up. It will be so worth it in the end.
vicky ofsted and management knock the stuffing out of the best/most experienced teachers, never mind ones like us who have only been doing it a bit. I had seriously thought about jacking it all in, even though i enjoy the job normally. Please take time out for yourself. You sound like i was a year ago, and it is not a healthy place to be.
oh well, another week bites the dust. Back on the treadmill tomorrow.

Hi all, and many thanks for the warm welcome. What a friendly lot you are! Special thanks to Bargain Rzl for the information on avatars; I'll have a look through and, yes I like JackieO's avatar too.
Freyaluck - congratulations on your allotment. They're a lot of hard work but great fun too, and of course you get all that lovely fruit and veg at the end of it all - very satisfying. We've had ours for two years now. Only problem we have with it is the weeds. The neighbouring plot holders on each side don't seem to worry about weeds and consequently we are fighting them all the time - the weeds, not the neighbours!
There are a couple of retired men who spend almost every day at the allotments and have about three plots each, and they are all pristine and flourishing. Still, we do have other things to do. DH is fitting out a campervan for us to use, having just sold our caravan. He decided that he didn't enjoy pulling a 'van any more and he has always wanted to fit out his own camper so I finally gave in. Sometimes wish I hadn't now as it is taking such a long time and I get somewhat fed up of not going anywhere much as he is so busy.
I have grown lots of dahlias at the allotment and have just planted a big sack of daffodil bulbs. What with the dahlias and other flowers grown in my little garden at home, I haven't bought flowers for months and months.
Hope you've all had a lovely week-end.
Hugs to all
Maggie

Hello
thankyou to everyone for all the hugs and prayers.
Top Granny - I can't wait to get all the formalities over and done with so I can start sorting it all out, I took the kids and dp over their today to show them and realised Just how big the plot is must be nearly 25 meters x 15m, so huge and quite daunting, but I will get it sorted. I need to find someone selling or giving away manure, so I can give the plot a good going over the soil has a very high clay content so needs a lot of work.
Csarina- Really glad you got your phone back.
We had a lovely joint of beef for dinner took loads of photos of the prep for the cook off thread, but forgot to take photos of the end result:o  , but it was gorgeous even my lil bro and sis enjoyed it and they are very fussy.
Right must go and finish the garden before it gets dark.
Hugs
