Hi everyone, I've never come across this thread before and I had a lovely read.
I'd really like to know where you all get your avatars and moving smilies from. I would love a "granny" avatar - perhaps rocking in a chair or something - but I have no idea how you get them. Any help would be appreciated.
I had a smashing day yesterday - met up with an old school friend I hadn't seen for 36 years! We have kept in touch obviously, writing at Christmas mainly and, latterly, the odd text message. Even though it is so long since we met, we picked up almost where we left off and chatted away as though we had only seen each other about a month ago.
The grandsons are wanting to "do something" today, so I'll probably make some truffles or something with them. OH is mowing the lawns and DS is cleaning his motorbike (my son and his family live next door so it's almost like living together) so it looks as though I am in charge of the GS's while DIL is at work. My handle of "topgranny" is well earned, I can tell you! (I love it though!!)
Hope you all have a nice day. I'll look at the daily thread again to see how you are all going on.
Nice to meet you!

welcome to new people.
Just popping back in quickly. I'm quite pleased as I managed to sort through some old paperwork which i had been putting off for ages. Loads went through the shredder.
Despite me wanting to give DH a good rest, he has cooked us dinner, set up the computer downstairs, and is now cutting the grass which hasn't been done since around about june i think. Bless him. I wish he would take it easier.
I've managed to get a couple of loads of washing through the machine, and on the line. I'm currently feeling a bit stuffed and tired, as we had pasta with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch, as we will get a buffet tonight.
think i will try to continue pottering but at a slow pace this afternoon. I love weekends because DH makes more progress in one day than i do all week.

Welcome to Topgranny!
Penny-pincher, Aussielass and everyone else who's ill - hope you feel better soon!
Lovely to see the sun back again today - DS's tshirts are nearly dry, hooray. Just found that after drying a duvet cover in the TD on Thursday I carefully de-fluffed the TD and emptied the water container - what I shame i didn't actually remember to take the duvet cover out! It's all creased and feels cold, so have hung it on the line to keep the tshirts company.
Was hoovering yesterday and the clip that attaches the hose to the nozzle has broken:( DH is going to see if a bit of superglue will do the trick, otherwise I'll have to find out if just the clip can be replaced. I don't think DH will be trying to fix it today as he's not well - very snuffly and aches all over. he was feeling better when he got up this morning, then we went to get bread and a paper and he had to take Co-Codamol when we got home! There seem to be a lot of viruses about atm!
Just been reading the meal planner thread started by Penny-Pincher - thanks for all the good ideas! I do find meal-planning hard as I never know what I'll be feeling well enough to cook - I do sometimes cook a double amount and freeze some, but our freezer isn't very big. i'd get a chest freezer if we had anywhere to put one!:p
Penelope Penguin - an open fire sounds a lovely idea, though I do know what you mean about the rest of the house feeling cold!
Snowy Owl - hope the induction went well! And that you'll find the job a lot less stressful.
I managed to find an ivy leaf for DH to take a photo of while we were on holiday! Now I just need to find out how to make it into an avatar!
best wishes

Have just made egg fried rice for three teenagers and taken a home made loaf out of the oven.
DH and I had the remains of yesterday's pea and ham soup.
Posted books sold through Amazon and need to go to my Dad's flat later as someone is coming to pick up the automatic bed.
May just make something simple like potato wedges for tea. Or sandwiches using the home made bread."This site is addictive!"

Hello everyone, back again, a married woman at last!;)
I am getting to grips with re-imposing my OS ways on the home after being away with mum in charge. She fed the kids ready made food and far too much of EVERYTHING  and bought more stuff even though I had enough inPlus the contents of my organic veg box delivered last Fri. lay untouched after a WEEK so i have to salvage that later...BUT
Never mind! At least I have had to spend £0.00 on food this week!!! LOLMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
