Evening everyone :hello:
Just waiting for DH to get home before I start cooking veggie pasta sauce (from the freezer) and erm, pastaWe're going to a friend's house this weekend, so I can't wait to relax. Meanwhile, this evening I've got shed loads of work to do, if I don't want to take my laptop with me
The excitement of my day was popping into Asda this evening, to get some milk, and coming out with curry sauces and loads of yellow stickered chicken breasts........... Now, I know that I normally go to the butcher for these things, but I'm afraid the yellow sticker was practically jumping up and down in front of me!
No more news, I'm afraid.
Bye all

hello everyone!
I don't often check the daily thread but since all the hoo-hah the other week decided I would drop in more often.
Not got a great deal done today as DD2 has been poorly with a tummy bug (yuk!) so spent lots of time sitting with her watching kids tv - makes your brain go a bit strange after a while! Caught up with a few jobs though: wrote a long overdue letter to a friend and made a start on knitting a scarf and sewed some nametapes on school uniforms. I'd tried using those iron on name labels but they have started peeling off already, so gone back to the nice traditional sewn ones.
hope everyone has a nice weekend!weaving through the chaos...0 -
Evening everyone!
Who mentioned ducks - Shez was it you??? As it happens, just bought one reduced in Tesco today. I like the fat that comes out (DH gets wild ducks - much less fatty), as it's the BEST thing (other than goose fat) for cooking roasties.
Thriftmonster, any chance of the Jane Grigson Christmas cake recipe. Ginger sounds delicious.
SOM of 1, the bu99ers! That's a terrible thing to happen.
Saw some of the Money Programme about convenience food. Are there really families out there who live mainly on coinvenience food?!?!? I had some once, and it was soooooooooooooo salty. Saw some individual frozen bread and butter pud in Tesco, £1.69    Mine costs pennies per portion, as the bread would go to the chooks otherwise.
Hope you all have a better weekend.

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi everyone
Had a lovely day yesterday with two ex-colleagues. We went for a meal and some drinks (soft drinks all round - each of us was driving as we live v.far apart from each other). I didn't spend an awful lot, £15 tops. On the way home I called into a big M&S and bought some new bras - three in all, so slightly extravagant all at once, but I need them.
Today is the induction day of my new job. I'm quite looking forward to it. I was hoping to go bright eyed and bushy tailed, but same old story, I can't sleep!!!! I'll be nodding off at around 11.00am I suspect.
Penny Pincher - sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time at the moment. I really hope that you can get over this very quickly.
Breakfast...Weetabix probably, maybe porridge...it's too early for such important decisions.
Lunch...don't know, will be at work, so expect I'll have to be nice and dine with other new starters
Dinner...something simple along the lines of scrambled egg on toast.
Have a lovely Saturday everyone.

Morning, up at 5 today, still feeling very tired, was very cold in bedroom last night.
Went to mil's yesterday, kids had fun, lo was walking round in circles all the time!:D
Might go out for a long walk later with the kids depending on weather as it is very windy/rainy at the mo, or the kids will go swimming.
Hugs to all.

Another earlier bird here, dd got in bed with us a 2am and when she elbowed me in the face at 5am decided i had had enough and got up!!!
Not got to much planned today, ds1 footy match at 11, then a general day of tidying and some more baking, i may tidy garden up if weather stays ok.
Planning a fry up for tea, not very healthy but not had one for ages and really fancy one!!
Planning on doing lamb for dinner tommorow, can you cook lamb in the SC?? Never tried a roast in it and not sure how to do it.
Have a great day all and hugs to all who are not well.

Donna, Lamb is delicious in the slow cooker, but different to a roast , its moist and falling off the bone but not pink, different, I prefer to roast mine for roast dinner, with garlic and rosemary. But I like to cook a leg or shoulder in the slow cooker to then use cubed in a shepherds pie or the like.Pawpurrs x0
