Thanks for that one Gingham. It helps you to really put things into perspective and really restores your faith in the human race. God bless that family.

    Very powerful and moving story.

Oh my goodness. I'm blubbing. What an amazing story, and what an incredible man! My eldest step son was very much into that sort of thing, and so I am aware of how physically challenging the Iron Man is. But I cannot imagine doing it and carrying another adult!

Thank you so much for cross posting.

    Evening everyone,
Had a good day OS wise - made 8 jars of quince jelly:j
Thanks Dannahaz for reminding me how much I love oxtail. When I've finally cleared out the freezer I must make some oxtail stew.

Have only skimmed the thread, but had to log in to say I'm so sorry for your terrible news catowen (((((hugs))))). I know you've obviously looked at your insurance policy, but as most of them are written in gobbledygook, please phone them tomorrow. Sometimes it's surprising what is covered. The worst that can happen is they say no, and you're no worse off. Wish i could do something more practical to help.

AussieLass, sorry you're feeling so poorly. You really need to look after yourself, caring for a toddler is extremely demanding, even when they're good!!!

Got to go, might be back later. CMxxx

    Evening everyone :hello:

    ((((catowen))))

I have caved in to temptation........... and switched on the heating :o . There was a definite chill in the air when I got in the house, so it's on 18 degrees. :o:o I can't believe that I've been so weak. I've also set it to come on when I get up tomorrow morning, but that will probably mean that it's far too snuggly to get up!

I've been out this afternoon. I left school with my mentor and we went to the pub :D Just for an early tea, you understand. It was nice to leave "early" for once!

DH has got back from work and has just tucked into a very un-OS plate of fish and chips from the chippy. :D

Better go and do a little bit of work.... no rest for the wicked.

Way too late with this thread (not sure which day it should be in!), but wanted to say a belated happy birthday to Squeaky and Furrypig for earlier this week :T, wish JackieO a lovely time in Holland :D and send hugs to all OSers and mini-OSers who are under the weather :grouphug: (and special hugs to Catowen's daughter - I hope that the problems with the friends at school sort themselves out...I remember when my "best friend" left school in the 3rd year of senior school to move to the other side of the country - it took time to break into the little cliquey groups that had already established themselves, and I can only imagine that it is worse when you are younger!). Love the Friend-stop idea, by the way - wouldn't it be great to roll this out across the country...so simple, but so effective!! ;)

Not a lot of OS going on in the house of Piglet this week (have been lurking and reading, but not much time to post - that'll teach me to lurk while at work...every time I try to post I have to shut the site down when my boss approaches!).

Have washed and ironed all bedding/towels from weekend visitors, and am keeping on top of housework in a "general" way :o. Used the last of my "frozen in single portions" pasta sauce today, so need to make up a new batch of that this weekend (often take pasta and sauce to work for lunch when its cold - for some reason it seems much more substantial and satisfying than a sandwich!). Gives me a good excuse to break into the bargain Napolina tomatoes from Asda (12 tins for £2) :rotfl:. Also, this weekend, I am wanting to spring clean my kitchen cupboards and do a new freezer inventory - I am very good at noting whats in there, but not so good at ticking it off as I use it...so plenty of room for improvement there! :p Could also do with turning some of the minced beef in the freezer into a chilli and portioning it and re-freezing for "ready-meals". If I have time, I'd also like to make a start on sorting out the spare room (read: dumping ground!) - we are looking to put our house on the market in the next few months and at the moment one of the bedrooms is very much a "junk" room, so this needs sorting...

The windows could also do with a clean...but whilst the weather in London is so appalling it seems a waste of time risking life and limb to clean them when they just get splashed and dirty again so quickly (we are on 1st and 2nd floors) so can't get a window cleaner to do "upstairs" on a ladder, so I choose to do them myself - also for money-saving purposes...! - but this means leaning out at very precarious angles!! Maybe I'll make an effort to do all the insides this weekend, and work up to the outsides when the weather is less damp!:rotfl:

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 6th october. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
