:rotfl: Happy Birthday Richard, twenty one again ??:j
I am a happy bunny this morning after my super daughter rescuing my holiday by finding my passport :j I am off to B&Q's with other DD to by some bits for her new bathroom that she is having in her extension .It's 'crinkly day' so I buy it with my 10% discount card and she gets it a bit cheaper .It's got its advantages being old ,I think I have a discount card for most places :rotfl:
Weather is cooling down a bit and the nights are drawing in again. .

Had a phone call from my sis-in-law in Dubai yesterday and she said it was too hot to go outside to the pool , how the other half lives eh,I should have that sort of worry:rolleyes:

My builder chap came from the 'Warm Front' people, and made good the great big hole where the back boiler used to be yesterday as well, so my sitting room is starting to look more like it's self again.:j

Going to take things a bit easy today as i want to build up my legs for our trip to Holland on Friday. I am going to Valkenberg and have really been looking forward to it.
I shall take 'Moby !!!!!! ' to read on the coach as it is part of my reading list for college. I started it the other day but so far have found Melville a bit hard going .I have done about 80 pages so far and he hasn't set fot on the boat yet  .Still at least it's a good book for insomniacs I suppose, it seems to send me off within 10 minutes
    Have a good day folks

Morning everyone! Sunny here at the moment so I'll put my washing out. It'll probably rain by lunchtime but never mind!

DD2 has gone off to college with a stomach ache today. Its funny that all through the summer holidays she is perfectly fine and as soon as term starts she gets all sorts of pains and aches. I know she's not making it up, mind you, but I think its the stress of the routine and getting up early that sets everything off. She's the sort of person to tell me immediately if anything is wrong (if she was being bullied for example). She has a problem with one of her teachers (but so does everyone else too!) but she has a nice teacher today and tomorrow, so Im hoping her stomach ache will ease off and she will forget about it.

Sorry to everyone who is having trouble sleeping and those who are poorly and happy birthday Squeaky!

B: Toast made with HM bread
L: Baked potato (if I remember to put it in the oven before I go out!)
D: Boneless chicken breasts, probably with rice and sw&sour sauce

I can just feel a spot breaking out just reading your recipe, Catznine!

Its strange, JackieO, but I had a feeling your passport would turn up! Hope you enjoy your trip! :T

Morning all, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SQUEAKY! :bdaycake:

Well I feel all full of the joys of spring this morning. I think my body has finally come out the other side of my "permanently knackered" phase (which has been caused, I presume, by my too-sudden attempts to take things easier, go out less, drink less, and go to bed earlier) and this morning I actually woke up on the FIRST ring of my alarm clock, and had the energy to get out of bed within just 10 minutes! :j :j

Also had some fab news yesterday, my friend has had a baby boy - she and hubby had been trying for FIVE YEARS and she was over 35 (just) with endometriosis, so they weren't sure whether it was ever going to happen :T I'm sure there's something in the water at the moment - another friend became an aunt at the weekend, and I've got 2 colleagues about to pop any day now. One of them might already have done so for all I know - her partner sits 2 metres away from my desk and hasn't been seen in the office since Monday ;)

I am determined to get lots of work done today and as we all know, MSE is the thief of time! So I will be getting straight down to it once I've typed this message - loads to do, and I've been soooooo unmotivated lately...

I am distressed to note that after a huge effort at having a major clear-out a couple of weekends ago, my bedroom-come-living-room is almost back to its original bombsite state! So A PLAN is required. I am NOT taking my junk when I move house. This weekend I don't have anything planned except church, so the To Do list will be as follows:

-List my old scanner on Freecycle
-Clear out one of my chests of drawers - the one I'm getting rid of - and list it on Freecycle
-Take 2 huge sacks of clothes to a charity shop, plus the 2 hats which I've worn ONCE EACH (to weddings) and which now take up a whole shelf in my wardrobe
-Get all shoes mended that need mending
-Sort out paperwork - what needs keeping, what can be chucked, what can be shredded
-Do an inventory of what's in the freezer, then...
-Make a meal plan for the next 2 weeks (something I've really got out of the habit of doing :o) and cook the first batch of whatever needs cooking. I've reverted to throwing money down the drain on takeaway lunches! :o
-Go through the stack of 6 crates in one corner of my room and throw out what I don't need - for pete's sake, they've been sitting there since I got stuff out of storage 18 months ago, and I could probably count the items I've actually needed or missed on the fingers of one hand!

There must be more, but I'll think of it later.

The BIG job I need to do - an emotional one as well as a practical one - is work out what to do with all my opera and concert programmes. I have a collection of over a thousand, from ten years of collecting (all from things I've actually been to  ) and my intention was to start a major "project" to get them all logged into a database before EITHER working out how to shelve them OR throwing them away. But the other day my housemate had some time on his hands and decided to get them all out of the loft for me - and now I can see them all in their crates, I realise that most of them mean little or nothing to me! :o

Anthea's catchphrase about chucking out "anything that's not beautiful, useful or seriously sentimental" has actually had a significant effect on me!

Blimey, where did all this energy come from? If only I wasn't in the office today, I'd be at home doing Anthea proud!

See you later, love Rzl xx

    Good morning all!

    Happy birthday Squeaky!!

I celebrated my 40th birthday yesterday and was very unol' style! I had brekkie in bed, trip to hairdressers lunch with friends, take away pizza and champagne for tea and it was great!!

Had some wonderful homemade pressies from kids which made me laugh and some lovely photos of the family that made me cry!!

Anyway today I am aiming to be super duperly ol' style as have so much to do!! I am off tomorrow for a special special birthday treat to New York!!

So will be putting bm,wm,dw, and anything else I can think of on to cook, clean and help me get organised!! Cool but sunny here so hope I can get some washing dry!!

Already have one load in and everyday biscuits in fridge!!

Have fun everyone and will try and get back to you later otherwise early next week!!

    Hi BR

Why not try selling them individually on Ebay? It's surprising what sort of things sell. I would wait until they do another "5p listing day", so the outlay is very small if thy don't sell.

Alternatively, you could try contacting the production companies to see if they want old programmes.

Or keep them in your loft and look at selling them in a few years.

Thanks dannahaz - I've been keeping an eye on ebay but most of these things don't seem to sell - except for ones with decent autographs and I'd want to keep them anyway ;) - and as for keeping them in the loft, I'm about to move into a 1-bed flat with no storage, hence the clearout!

Thanks very much for the thought, though! :D

BargainRzl...just a thought, but I should imagine your old programmes would go quickly on freecycle. You could put them up as a single item and tell people no cherry picking. It'd be worth a go, IMO....

FurryPig...gosh, you were 40 yesterday!! Congratulations - life is just beginning....

Penny...I will be needing those matchsticks very soon....

    Morning All!!!

    Happiest of Happy Birthdays Squeaky!!!!:bdaycake:

Had a dreadful Mummy moment this morning when I woke up and realised that I had forgotten to put money in DS's tooth cushion (he lost a tooth yesterday). I tiptoed in and tried to get it out from underneath his pillow but couldn't find it, then he woke up and checked it...no money and still his little tooth!!

He has 2 pillows and had put it under the first one so I said that must have been why the tooth fairy couldn't find it!!! :o

Feel dreadful now.....but I think he believed me. ;)

Popped WM on before I left hopefully DH will be hanging out as it's a nice day, need to make another loaf in the BM as this mornings was demolished in about 5 minutes flat. DH will do DW and dinner for tonight is pasta bake which I prepared last night as DS has football tonight.

Made braised red cabbage for dinner last night with casserole, it was absolutely delicious (got the cabbage reduced to 20p too which made it equally delicious). Will definitely do this for Christmas dinner.

Need to hoover upstairs and sweep floors later but will do that once the kids are in bed as DH is working.

Scuzz hope all goes well at your meeting.

    Hugs to all in need.

    Take care all.

    Hi Everyone

    Happy Birthday Squeaky!!!

Well meeting's been put off until tomorrow, but had a brief chat with the boss again last night, and apparently I'm creating a problem that doens't exist. So there we are, I'm now a mad woman!!!!

Had a free trip to the theatre on Monday with sis which was nice. Also been told I can go to one our local football team's games whenever I like, with hospitality thrown in which is lovely

    Hope everyone's ok
