lol racy your not a bird bore! me + OH love feeding the ducks/swans/ geese etc. i used to work near to a loch that had loads of different birds and we used to have a packed lunch in car then feed the ducks value bread - great fun. we went to centre parcs the other week and we decided to feed the leftover bread to the ducks - our two boys, video games addicts seemed less than impressed with the idea. however, they loved it and when the bread ran out they asked for more bread to feed the ducks after swimming! (which we got reduced!!) married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

Thanks Chardonnay, it is addictive isn't it? One of "my" geese sort of chatters its beak at me and makes a lovely wittering noise when it wants to be fed. It's so sweet! And I'm such a pushover!
Have to confess that I ran out of value plain flour tonight so made them a batch of scones with value SR flour instead. Mind you, they taste wonderful so there might not be any left by bird brekkie time!
Time I got some sleep,
Night allMy first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Well I've just had the most stressful week ever.
I heard last Monday my friend killed himself whilst drunk and insensible he decided suicide was an option and sadly managed it. I haven't been able to bring myself to post on the daily chat threads since that because I hadn't really accepted it. He left a young daughter who doesn't understand.
I've been interviewing to get out of my horrible 40 hour a week job where they think I don't work hard enough, am hoping to hear on Tuesday the results of an interview I did last week.
So as not to be totally depressing I organised a charitable event on Saturday which was a total success and I'm so pleased, I'm going to be throwing a lot more time into my charity work since the news I received last monday. Life is too short to threaten to get involved and never manage it.
((HUGS)) to all who need them. Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and has a great week ahead of them.My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

hi, sorry to hear about your loss.
is the charitable event thing just a hobby or could you take it further and start your own business (not charity events but wedding/party organiser)?0 -
Hey it's a voluntary thing, I'm on a committee, I'm not up for starting my own business, too much family history of it and marriage break up resulting because of the time needed to devote. I just do this because it's a charity I feel doesn't get enough attention and I have personal experience.
and I'm very uunsuccessfully trying to organise my own wedding atm, perhaps my partner could become the party organiserMy Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

What a terrible thing to happen. I have experience of this situation in my family so I really do sympathise. Your friend's daughter must be distraught. It really does get better over time, although I know that doesn't really help at the moment.
I'm so glad to hear that your charity "do" was such a success - and if it's made you decide to step up the charity work, then at least some good has come from the situation.
Give the little girl a big (((hug))) from me.:rudolf: Always skip and eat your peas :rudolf:0 -
Good morning mirakl, wendy_ann, topgranny and all to follow. :hello:
mirakl, I'm sorry to hear you're going through such a rough time at the moment.
I have been working all weekend, so I haven't done very much Old Style, but the weather has been lovely and it made going out to work much easier...the extra hour helped too!
I'm not looking forward to today as Tilly has to go in for 'the operation'
For those of you who don't know, Tilly is our adorable kitten. I know it's the right thing to do, but I'm dreading taking her to the vets tomorrow. We have had to fast her since 6.00pm last night and even though I made her some poached fish for her 'last supper', she is not a happy kitty. I just wish it was all over.
On a brighter note, it's the beginning of half term here.....so I'm looking forward to spending some time with the children with no routines and no early mornings! :j The only thing I don't enjoy about them being off is the trail of devastation they cause in the kitchen!
Some things planned for the week ahead are a halloween party, a visit to the local open farm with the youngest, going to the cinema with the boys and a girlie shopping expedition with my daughter. The whole family is also looking forward to a mini meet with another OS'er next Sunday! I can't wait! So that's my week.....
Saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a little bit disrupted........my morphy richards breadmaker is expected to land on Tuesday! I am sad enough to be seriously excited and I'm bound to want to play with my new toy!
I hope you all have a great Monday!
