frugalfairy: Re: fireworks DTI Firework Safety Homepage
It is an offence to let fireworks off between 11pm and 7am, except on Bonfire Night (midnight), Diwali, New Year, and Chinese New Year (1am).
You could have reported it, although, by the sounds of it, you'd then run the risk of that helicopter scouting them out!

N9eav - 3rd option (compromise on the two) stay home, make the jobs exciting by putting another twist on them - competition perhaps? - won't be boring/saves on going out again? ;)

Pen-Pen - blimey! If another parent came to collect their child from a sleepover at us's at 7am on a Saturday morning ... chances are I'd be sending the child out the window via a chute rather than answer the door

:hello: Gooooooood Morning all who have been, all who are now and all who will come again :D:D:D

After yesterdays trauma at the Dentist, lots of painkillers, I finally slept, fitfully, but slept.

Today I have to take d12yo footie training (midday) so it will be a brunch this morning for them - I'm having a yogurt

Lots of ironing to be done at some point after all the clearing out/washing this week.

Plan on making a couple of Shepard's Pies today for the freezer - had a craving for one ever since the thread went up the other day and ended up buying one yesterday on the grounds it was 'sloppy' and easy to eat and good old fashioned 'comfort food'. As I hadn't eaten since breakfast and yes, it was definately 'sloppy' and yes, filled a little hole up, it really isn't a patch on HM. I knew it. But yesterday, couldn't have cared less about grabbing a ready meal :o At that point, it was manna from heaven

D11yo has just told me that I've been talking in my sleep again  Seems I can't simply *mumble*, I have a jolly good talk!!
Note to self: time to close the bedroom windows for the sake of the neighbours :o

I'm not going to stand and watch Ds's footie practise today, I'm going to sit in the car (lazy 'B') and get on with some knitting instead. D11yo has now got his long awaited Sims Pets and he's keen to have a go on that while d12yo does his training. I love multi-tasking :T :T

Right, time for a browse while I have my coffee and let the painkillers do their stuff.

    Have a super Saturday, everyone.
((hugs)) to all - they are free today :D:D:D

  • OH has to sort out central locking on the car. Back doors have jammed. DS tried to open door while he was unlocking and it didn't like it. Hope that's not gonna be more money. Had to climb over the front seats last night to get in.

Hello Cheerfullness! We had a prob with central locking in our car. It was a complete pain, so our friendly mechanic disconnected it. We now have to lock and unlock each door separately, but that's a lot better than what we had. Cost very little (pint the following evening, I think :D )

  • Morning Everyone

Early one for me. OH has tootled off to w*** and I couldn't get back to sleep. Am feeling much better, still not 100% but I must be on the road to recovery as I managed a glass of wine last night with dinner :rotfl:

Plans for today are visiting my mum and doing her ironing, she can't do this following her recent operation and will probably do a bit of shopping for her too. I did my ironing yesterday and with me being at home all week, the house is looking remarkably tidy for a change. Bathroom needs cleaning and the vac pushing around but thats about it.

    B - Cheerio's (again!!)
    L - Crumpets
D - Turkey Bolognaise (got the turkey mince for 67p! :money:)

    Have a lovely Saturday xxx
Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!

    Oh dear! :(:(:(

D11yo just went to check on the quails ... we now mourn the sad passing of one of them (my one). ((He's a tad tearful and now in the bath having a 'soak'.))
:shhh: *Queenie puts frozen chicken back into freezer and takes out a half leg of lamb to defrost for tomorrow's dinner instead and calls it 'tact' * :silenced:
Thank goodness for Sims Pets - feels like fate somehow that it was released yesterday in light of the demise of aforementioned

PP - enjoy your wedding party, sounds like a really fun 'do' :T Doggy bags, maybe? ;)L'il Miss LOD - glad you are feeling a bit better :DCrazychik Hope you are feeling better soon and you enjoy your day in London; sending posi vibes for the start of your new job on Monday :T

    Hi all,

This is my first post - just to say hi and I'm off to buy some lamb shortly to make some stew for today's lunch and some for the freezer. There is a great butcher near us and he is not fussed if I buy just a few bits of meat, enough for the stew. Although having now read about cottage pie, I'm torn between the two! Love Money Saving Old Style, have got some many useful bits and pieces from here.

Please forgive the absence of smilies et al, I've yet to do these!

    oooowwwww, my head :(

    someone made me do it....honest.

    Please don't shout - I'll be back later...:) :o:)
  • Hi, not posted on the daily thread before, but I thought I'd say hello. Chaos reigns here - me, DS1, DS2 and DD all breakfasted and ready to rock (although I admit not dressed), OH staggering down the stairs as we speak.

DS1 is reading this over my shoulder and is desperate for me to use the 'horrified' smiley. Like this.

Don't think we'll be very OS today - more washing, as ever, tea at childless friends' house (our three are all under 6 - that'll be fun!). Proper OS tomorrow though - must got and get the potroast out of the freezer!

    Have a nice day, all.

    Morning OSers *waving

MineAllMine - a big hello to you too, welcome to the club :D

Well got a crazy day ahead of me but at least have finally decide what cake I'm baking for the party - Nigellas choc orange, stick some sparklers in the top and that should do it - I figure it's more for show than actual eating so doesn't matter that it's only big enough for 6 :D Plus friend turned up last night with the makings for two HUGE trifles so don't think anyone will be going short on the pudding front.

I really need to go shopping now but other friend has parked her car behind mine on my drive :o would it be awfully bad manners to go wake her up and demand she move it? :D. Thing is I am enjoying the peace of having all guests still asleep - there was quite a bit of champagne consumed last night, another birthday gift from lovely friends, so maybe I should be nice and let them continue sleeping it off..........

Right, off to find who is selling gammon cheapest so I can do a coca cola ham for later on, have a brilliant day

Hugs to Queenie's family on loss of one of the birdies - although I have to say I laffed when I saw the chicken/leg of lamb comment :D
Hugs to anyone who had a bad nights sleep
YAY to anyone going somewhere nice today
And all in all have a super Saturday
