My contract just says I'm not entitled to overtime. So guess that means I'm out of the WTD. We have no choice here. It's sign or no job. I never get a lunch break either, but they only pay me 7.5 hours a day, not 8.5, which is how long I'm here (minimum) I work in local radio.

Grrrrr, OH is the same as well on his contract, you have my sympathies :)

Hi, Scuzz. No paid overtime and WTD are different. If my memory serves, you have to specifically sign to opt out of the WTD. Take a look at the ACAS Website. They also have a very good helpline, which will give you confidential advice.

However, as you've hinted at, having rights and enforcing them aren't always compatible.

If you'd like me to take another look once I'm back at work, send me a PM.

    Hello all :hello:

Penny-Pincher - :j Fab news about DLA  Also you've reminded me how much I want to go to the zoo!!! Might have to pop a trip to the zoo as one of OHs Xmas vouchers (doing 52 so that we do something each week as we've both been moaning lately that we never spend any time together or do anything!!) Hopefully he picks it during the summer months! :D

Gingin - I think I want your parents' life!!! It sounds so idyllic I can understand why you didn't want to come home! (or did you say you didn't want to bring the kids home with you... :rotfl: )

:grouphug: to everyone in need, especially those with the lurgy (keep your postings away from me :p ), those struggling with work, and those who have recently suffered a loss

    Moan Begins Here
 nothing in particular has stressed me out today, I just feel generally pants and like I haven't got anything done - despite working solidly at uni work since 9am. There is just so much work to do this year!! Well I guess that there was this much in previous years, but as the marks didn't really count I did the bare minimum to get by on, but I'm determined to get a 2:1 and i know I can do it, but there's sooooo much this term!! I think part of it is because I've split my credits 70/50 instead of equally, so I'm doing three modules and my dissertation now, and then after Xmas I will only have a web-page project, a fiction module and the rest of my dissertation to do.

Supposed to be going into town tonight but I'm not really sure I want to go. I'm supposed to be going with my best friend and her flatmates - all of whom who are great - but I don't really have much money (payday isn't until next week) and we're going to Flares (cheesy 60s-80s music bar/club in town) and my ex-best friend used to work there and I'm really worried that if she still works there and I see her that it'll ruin my night! We were best friends all through 6th form and 1st yr uni but we moved in together at the beginning of the 2nd year and just didn't get on anymore - so much so that I moved out 5months into the contract and we hadn't spoken for two months before that :(

I'm very behind on housework, on uni work (though I don't know how as I seem to be at it 24/7!!) and it's coming up to the busiest time of year for us at paid work so things are only going to get worse until after Xmas!

One nice thing though is that my boss, who is usually very hard on us and very rarely hands out praise (even when my area manager emails the regional manager especially to tell her about how well I'm doing and she phones the shop to speak to me personally - a big thing for someone only contracted 10hrs) actually praised me on a sale last night!! He didn't think that the customers were going to buy so he let me serve them, and they ended up spending £1850 and booking a design appointment to get a bespoke piece made!! That'll teach him for judging on appearances!

Sorry for the essay!! Not much OS done today as have been uni-ing all day!

    Afternoon Everyone

Just came on to find a recipe for Lentil and Bacon soup, but thought I would let you know that DD has had her PCV jab and she was really brave and only cried for a second. Nipped in Morrisons to get the lentils so I bought her a packet of buttons as a reward.

Hugs to everybody who needs them

Hi Tinkerbelluk, sorry about your loss - I was there march last year when I lost my nan, thought my whole world had caved in. Family arguments too when she died, wish she was here tho, to pull everyone back in line. I feel for you....

Sending you a big hug and smile :)

    Hi all

Think OS is in my bones now.

Nipped to asda - but really couldn't be bothered doing a big shop so was just getting stuff to get us through tonight and tomorrow.

Decided DH and I would have a curry tonight - been fancying one for a while. So I had a look at the ASDA takeaway bag thingies (not something I would ever have bought but I couldn't face fighting round the aisles - why is asda always worse than everywhere else for fighting through people to get to things) Put it in my trolley and wandered off to get stardrops and milk and nappies. Passed the spices aisle and thought what the hell am I doing. Dumped takeaway pack back in fridge (£6 for two meals BTW:eek: ) grabbed chicken breasts, onions, I've got spices and rice in house. I'll make the thing dammit.

(two big tins of choccies did fall into the basket tho', 2 fo r£10. they'll do the trick or treaters and christmas - ooh and I HAD to test them for quality:o )

I will be OS. Iwill I will I will.

    Evening everyone :hello:

We're back from my parents. Good to see them again and also picked up our wedding photos (the extra prints that we're going to give to people who helped us!). There's a new local farm shop that has opened up near my parents, so my mum, DH and I had to go for a little snoop. They've evidently spent ALOT of money and they claim that 99% of their products are locally produced. I did question whether the olives were all the way from Grimsby? ;) DH had a piece of cake in the cafe, but was most disappointed at the size of the slice! :o

Spent today shopping in Peterborough, spending some of the vouchers that we got for our wedding. :) Needed some new foundation and concealer, which I hardly ever wear, so I got it from Boots using the £5 voucher that I got when Christmas shopping the other night. Now, I normally never wear concealer and foundation because I never leave enough time in the mornings to put it on............ however, we're going to a wedding on Sunday and my face resembles a pizza at the moment. :D

When DH and I got back this afternoon, he decided to clean the kitchen. Mid-clean, he put water  (of all things) down the sink and something "gave way" - consequence was that we're now waiting for a plumber to come round from our letting agents, but it'll be Monday by the time they get here..

I'm dreading going back to school and I'm petrified about what the next half of term holds for me. I'm sure that I wasn't this bad when I was a pupil . DH and I (think I told you all this) have put an offer in on a house and it's been accepted. I'm not too sure now about it, but that's probably because I'm unsure about my future in the school and teaching in general.

Mushroom soup and olive ciabatta bread for supper tonight. Not OS at all, but very yummy.

Have a good weekend everyone

Spent most of the day in bed as from about 5 in the morning I was being constantly sick with a pounding headache.

Eventually roused myself to cook a choice of spag bol or Shepherd's pie for tea.

DD(12) has a friend over for sleepover.

No joy finding friend's will so may try probate service next week and phone a few more solicitors.

Sold three books on Amazon today ( obviously feeling like death seems to be the secret).

    Hugs to everybody.

Hi Vicky, have a good weekend yourself. How did all the inspection go? (If you put any info. on here I must have missed it.) Thinking of you while you struggle with the career demons.
